Ivonne M. says, "WOW! Lauren did such an incredible job in our spare/basement room. We have a lot of big boxes down there needed for a renovation project, and a pile of random things started forming on top of the boxes since the beginning of the year. The space felt clustered and I felt very stressed every time i walked through that room. Lauren was quick to reply and was quickly able to work on the room. The final result blew me away! Of course the renovation boxes needed to stay in the room, but Lauren did an amazing job of clearing the rest of the items on top and organizing everything in categories. I had some half empty built in storage that she made fantastic use of. I would 10/10 recommend her and will probably hire her again in the future!"See more

Marjorie No Last Name says, "Roofworx showed up! In the middle of a downpour, as I frantically bailed buckets in my sons room, I sent a desperate text to my sister to find a roofer who would come as soon as possible. She left messages everywhere, and Roofworx was the only company that called back that night. Mike was at my house at 10am the next day with a drone to assess the damage. His crew came out to tarp the roof the next day, and within two weeks, I had a whole new roof! Mike communicated clearly throughout the entire process, following up with me quickly, and answering all of my questions. The estimate was clear and detailed (with pictures), and included information on the payment schedule, and provisos for any additional damages they might find after starting the project. The crew that did the work was lovely! The guys were professional, efficient, and cleaned up before they went to lunch and at the end of the day each day. I would absolutely do business with Roofworx again. 5 stars isnt enough to describe how outstanding their customer service is!"See more

FAQs

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

It will likely cost between $200 and $400 to hire someone to hang your Christmas lights and holiday decorations. For an accurate cost estimate, ask installers near you to give you a price quote. Let them know if you need them to supply the lights, how many you want to hang and other details about this project.

There’s no set rule of when you should or shouldn’t hang your Christmas lights. Some homeowners wait until after Halloween or Thanksgiving. Others may choose to hang them a few weeks before Christmas or at the beginning of December.

If you want to hang up Christmas lights (or other holiday light fixtures) outdoors, you’ll need the following:

  • Christmas and holiday lights
  • Extension cords
  • Gloves
  • Gutter clips
  • Ladder
  • Power stakes
  • Tape measure

Instead of hanging the Christmas lights yourself, you can hire a professional installer to take care of this project for you.

The best way to hang Christmas lights on your house is to use some type of light clip (sometimes called gutter clips). To help ensure your safety, however, consider hiring a professional installer who has experience with hanging Christmas lights, handling electrical cords and using ladders.

You’ll need to measure your house to figure out how many Christmas lights you need. Some homeowners may want to start with 60 feet of lights — or 200 feet. You can take the guesswork out of it by hiring a professional installer or handy person to help you measure and install your lights.

How much you tip an installer who hangs your Christmas and holiday lighting is up to your discretion. Some people prefer to tip about 20% for services, while others may choose to tip anywhere from $20-$50. It’s up to you how much you choose to tip.
