Introduction: We offer the ultimate overnight dance training camp in beautiful mountain resort locations! ADTC's dance training camps are open to girls ages 8 to 17. Dancers of all levels and disciplines are welcome; no prior dance experience is necessary to attend! Our top-notch instructors bring to ADTC the coolest combinations from some of the best national and international dance studios, schools, and performance groups. Classes are organized by age and ability level, and instruction is carefully tailored to fit the ability level of each student, from beginners to experienced performers, with lots of hands-on help and individualized attention. In addition to ADTC's core jazz/funk and hip-hop classes, campers are exposed to a variety of dance disciplines (such as lyrical, ballet, and tap) during each session week. Each girl takes four dance classes per day, and at week's end, campers get to show off their new moves in a big Friday night performance for family, friends, and fellow campers. ADTC has four locations, all just minutes from renowned mountain destination resorts: Western Carolina University, NC, Squaw Valley, CA, Stratton Mountain, VT, and Winter Park, CO. Our unique locations mean that ADTC campers have access to all the traditional activities you'd want to enjoy at summer dance camp, as well as all of the amenities you'd expect to find at a luxury mountain resort. At ADTC, we have just as much fun outside the dance studio as we do in class!

I wanted to like this camp and have my daughter attend on an annual basis. Unfortunately, our first experience was so bad that we will never return. The ADTC website stresses 24/7 supervision and zero tolerance for bullying. That was NOT the case. My 10 year old daughter was unsupervised at night after curfew and was continually bullied by a roommate. My daughter told me that each night at 10PM their counselor left her and her four 10 year old roommates alone in a hotel room. The lack of supervision enabled an older camper to run away. My daughter was bullied verbally by a roommate all day which was reported to the counselor and was viewed by the counselor. No action was taken by the counselor or the camp. I communicated this experience to the ADTC owner and she informed me that 24/7 supervision doesn't mean "handholding." DO NOT go!

My daughter just returned from this camp and though she loved the staff, enjoyed the horseback riding, paintball & kayaking and made new friends, this camp DID NOT give her the challenging dance experience we expected. She had lots of fun but for the $1500 that it cost us we expected to have much more technical and challenging dance instruction but sadly this camp did not deliver. If your daughter is a serious dancer looking for a challenge this is NOT the camp for you.The Squaw valley camp facilities were very disappointing. My daughter chose ballet as her core class but the dance studio consisted of mats taped down to the asphalt in the parking lot....no studio with a barre or mirrors. Not what we paid for :(

From out first contact with ADTC to the middle of the 2nd session, Shannon and her staff were empathetic, communicative, supportive and flexible. We faced a few challenges to enrollment - financial and emotional (our daughter’s previous sleepaway camp experience was a disaster) - and Shannon was flexible and responsive, even over the course of an everlasting game of phone tag. I think for any parent who gives his or her child to someone else to care for, the most critical tool to a successful experience is communication. I heard from the camp director regularly, and even a few extra times given our daughter’s need for additional support. The camp director listened and extended considerable effort to accommodate our daughter and help to ensure her experience was robust and memorable. But the most telling and indicative sign of our fabulous camp experience was Sophie’s immediate commitment to return the following summer. I know that every dancer at both sessions with her shared her positive experience, and it was very special to see girls who didn’t know each other create such a strong bond over shared passions. This was a result of the skilled and talented staff who touched the girls every day. Kudos to Shannon and everyone at ADTC. They far exceeded the expectations we had.

This camp was a disaster! Shannon over promised just to get us enrolled and under delivered. Promised me there were other 8 and 9 year olds (6 in total) enrolled for the same session as my daughter and there was only 1 other. And the other one came with her 12 year old sister and their 4 other dance team. The other 9 year old slept with her sister and left my 9 year old ALONE in her room (only 2 to a room) ALL NIGHT LONG and the counselors were aware of this! My daughter slept under her bed with the lights on because she was so scared! She had to go to therapy immediately after leaving camp because she was so traumatized and she refused to go back to dance. We had to slowly bring dance to her at our home through a therapist because she was so devastated. They were left alone after dinner. NO NIGHT TIME ACTIVITIES AS PROMISED! NOT ONE CAMP FIRE! The girls just ran the halls and had "dance parties" in their rooms and they were clicky and much too advanced for my daughter. She knew this and would stay alone crying or reading in her room. The camp is also very expensive and there are lots of upcharges for activities. Drop off is Sunday at 3 and recital is Friday at 7 andmost kids leave on Friday night. It cost about $1,500 for 5 nights and no activities after 6 pm and no counselors to integrate kids that feel left out? Thats just highway robbery! I contacted Shannon several times to discuss the problems but she has yet to return my emails or phone calls. There is no accountability. If your daughter goes with a group and is clicky and you encourage that behaivior and you expect her to be the stand out and treated like a star because she will b the best dancer there than this camp is for you but for the average dancer and non acrobatic child who is trying to branch out and have a summer experience on their own. Don't do it! It will destroy them. All the negative reviews I have read are true thus far! The kids that were happy there were the super stars that would be happy anywhere. All children should feel like super stars at camp. It's suppose to be fun and interactive and busy. Busy so they aren't home sick.

We love Dance Attitude! The entire studio has a welcoming, family environment. I've danced since a child and never felt as comfortable and involved as I have at Dance Attitude.
