He did great work, fast, neat and reasonably priced. I will definitely have him back to do more work. I had a fence that needed fixing and it now looks perfect. He is building a ramp in my yard, hanging shelves in my kitchen and installing a ceiling fan next.
While searching the internet for someone to remove our 12-year-old carpet from our two-bedroom flat, I found many referrals for carpet installation and floor refinishing, but nothing for carpet removal only. I then ran across a listing from Thumbtack, and thought I’d give it a try. The site was very easy to use. It asked me specific questions regarding the job, and within minutes I received emails from three people in my area that included price quotes. I chose one (Brian’s Handyman Services) and communicated further with Brian to clarify details. He booked the job for the next day. Brian sent me a text stating that he was on his way, and he arrived on time. He brought Carlos with him and the two of them began working immediately. If you’ve ever removed carpet, you know it’s a tedious job: it includes pulling up the carpet and pad, cutting them into pieces, pulling out all of the staples from the floor, removing the tack strips, and disposing of the carpet and pad. Brian and Carlos not only did that, but they moved our large pieces of furniture around in order to accomplish it. When they left, there was NO mess for us to clean up. Furniture was back into place and floors were swept. Brian even bolted four large pieces of furniture back onto the wall that had to be unbolted and moved in order to remove the carpet under them. Brian stuck with his original quote, even though the job turned out to be larger than expected. I can’t say enough kind things about Brian and Carlos and the professional job they did. They were fantastic! If you want someone who is honest, fair, flexible, and easy to work with, I highly recommend Brian’s Handyman Services for anything you need done at your home—and it sounds like he can do everything. You can contact Brian through Thumbtack on the internet.
Worked with Albino on painting but also a number of other home remodelling repairs he coordinated. Great stuff - very fast - and he's a pleasure to work with - get's everything sorted. He painted my full apartment, retiled my bathroom, installed a new vanity and laid down new vinyl tiling. Great reasonable prices as well.
Matthew was so great to work with. He installed a butcher block countertop over my washer/dryer, (which had some complexities to it), hung some floating shelves, installed window hardware, etc. He has a good eye for detail, let's you know what his approach to a solution will be before doing it so you can be involved in the process, and he does a great job! I would definitely hire him again!
Noel was a joy to work with. He installed a new flagstone walkway and patio in my employers back yard. He did an amazing job. My employers were away when the work was done and completed - they were extremely happy when they returned. LOVE Noel!!
When tasked with replacing a bathroom fan, mounting a tv, replacing an old door and sealing up a newly installed window all before the holidays , I decided these tasks where too much for me to handle. Luckily my friend told me about Fred. Fred was very professional and even gave me advice on some little projects I had around the house. I will definitely be using his services again and I would recommend his services to all my friends.
Jasper was friendly, professional and very communicative. I wanted a custom floating bookshelf for my large collection of art books of which many are very heavy. He did a wonderful job in making the shelf and made sure to fit it into my bedroom's existing style. From quote to installation, it took less than a week. The shelf is super sturdy, looks awesome and I love it!
Richard helped me design and remodel some features of my home before selling. Richard has a great eye for design and is able to construct as well. Richard and his team poured a new (black) concrete driveway, built me a new lateral cedar stained fence and painted the exterior of my home navy blue. This lead to a quick sale above asking, Thanks!
I hired Peter to remodel our porch. Not only did he do a fantastic job at that, but I was particularly impressed with his attention to detail until the very last nail was drilled in. The project was a last-minute surprise for my wife and kids who were traveling and had to be completed within a week. The project involved installing - a) travertine flooring, b) in-roof lighting (4 LED spot lights and a chandelier), c) wooden porch swing, d) a retractable screen door, e) a shoe cabinet nailed to the wall. Also, I had Peter install an extra swing in our backyard that had to be strung from our arbor by installing reinforced lumber to support it. I was thankful to Peter for helping me finish my daughter's room at NO extra cost - 1) he assembled a study table/chair for my 7-year old, 2) painted her room, 3) installed a mirror sliding door on her closet, 4) assembled a toy cabinet. It's not just that Peter did a phenomenal job and completed it on time, he did it with a positive attitude throughout and did not once appear frustrated despite the long hours and the frequent changes I made to the design as we went along. My family was totally surprised to see the transformation when they returned from their travels. Our porch is now among the best in our neighborhood, and we have been receiving our neighbors' compliments on how amazing it looks. I would hire Peter again without any hesitation.
I wanted to get my reach in closet prepared for closet installation. I did a video conf. to show Omar the scope of the work and we settled on price and schedule. He showed up on time and started working right away. He had the right tools. He is very smart and conversational. Overall I had a good experience with Omar and would hire him again.
Daniel has been a pleasure to work with. Quick responses & very professional. Daniel fixed our patio door including aligning door with frame and installing a new threshold. We plan to work with him on other carpentry projects.
Daniel has been working with me 2-3 days a week over the last 10 weeks or so to do odd jobs to finish off a Victorian renovation. He has: installed light fixtures hung wallpaper assembled IKEA furniture and bathroom fixtures installed hardware around the house like door closers, doorstops, laundry drying racks installed nest smoke detectors patched and painted walls installed a cork wall he has hung about 30 pieces of art and he's pitched in with the electrician when needed. Daniel has a dry sense of humor that has been welcome during a stressful renovation when not everyone on the team has been at their best. I also very much appreciated that he knew his own skill-set. He had no hesitation with saying "no, that's out of my depth." He's been great to work with, and he is able to manage expectations well. Daniel was coming to SF from Oakland, and always let me know when he would arrive. I wouldn't hesitate to hire him again.
Peter has the eye of an upscale designer with good insight of what works best. He and his crew have done a master bathroom redo that exceeded our expectations, crown molding install, kitchen upgrades, a hillside tiled deck and storage and we are not finished yet. Quality workmanship.
Really enjoyed working with Dermot Chawke. He did all of the finish carpentry on a remodel of the first floor of our home. He installed doors, hardware, baseboards, other trim pieces, and shelves; rebuilt an interior staircase; and custom built shelves and cabinets for an area under the stairs. He was easy to communicate with, always showed up when he said he would, had great ideas to maximize storage space, and did great quality work. Would be happy to use him again in the future.
Eduardo replaced one of the 15 custom windows in our front door. He was incredibly responsive, professional, and so polite. My wife commented that the framing of the window he installed looks way cleaner and better than the original ones. We look forward to using him for future projects!
I hired CFI Construction to frame a new 501 sq ft building on our property to be used as a sewing studio. Today, they started and finished framing the walls, and enclosing the entire building with shear panels. Next week, when the trusses arrive, they are going to install them and install roof shearing. I learned of CFI two days ago on Thumbtack. Having observed their work today, I feel like the A team just fell out of the sky into my project. They are phenomenal in every respect. Their work, honesty, and work ethic are models for the construction industry. They have years of experience framing large projects, both residential and commercial. I was humbled that they chose to work on my project. They are not solely a framing company. They can build a building from start to finish, I just happened to hire them for framing. Having enjoyed today's experience, I'm going to use them for more phases of our project. Both the owner of the company (Steve) and one of his sons (Drew) were on site the entire day, as well as their crew of 5 framers. I wanted to write this review now, even though they still have trusses to install and the front porch to frame, because I want other users of Thumbtack to have the same benefit of a 1st class, licensed, professional construction company, as I did today. I strongly recommend that you seek out CFI Construction for your projects. They are the real deal. Thank you Steve and Drew.
