As a student composer, I took private lessons with Dr. Ciach in both music composition and electronic music synthesis. I have to say that they were some of the most rewarding and educational lessons I have ever taken. Dr. Ciach is perfect at offering the perfect direction to your compositions without taking away from your own personal artistic voice and character. His breadth of knowledge and deep compositional understand make for one of the best mentors I have ever experienced. I highly recommend him to anyone interested in studying music composition.

Dr. Ciach was my professor over the course of a year for Music Theory 1 and 2. He has great teaching strategies. Dr. Ciach cares about each of his students and he takes the time to help students that have trouble understanding the lesson. Being in class with him, I could feel his passion and enthusiasm for music. Theory has always been enjoyable for me, but being able to watch him play the piano excerpts we were using in class made theory all the more enjoyable. I even got to hear him play his Third Sonata in Theory class! It was a privilege to have Dr. Ciach as a professor!

I came to study with Dr. Ciach after hearing him premiere his own Sonata no. 3. I was impressed with his ability as a communicator of music and I wanted him to be my teacher. I brought some Scriabin Sonatas to study with him and he was able to illuminate each piece by providing context with regard to form and harmony. I felt as though he gave me a 'composers' insight of the pieces and I achieved my goal of gaining understanding of the inner workings of these incredible pieces. He is an outstanding educator and one of the finest pianists I have had the pleasure to hear in a live setting.

Being a former theory student with Dr. Ciach, experiencing his teaching was an absolutely phenomenal and unforgettable experience. Dr. Ciach has the passion to make everything you learn from him interesting, creative, and fun. Being a brilliant composer and musician as well, not only captivates you, but also makes you appreciate learning from him as well as the privilege of being a pupil. It is a true honor to say that I was able to be a student of his.

I'm 54 with no time for frivolities. I needed a serious instructor who understood my pace. My dollars are hard earned. My money spent is well spent. I'm progressing rapidly, thanks to Brian. I see the end to my tunnel, the reality to my dream.
