I contacted Sean because I had a problem with my energy that was hindering my connection to spirits as well as making energy work more difficult for me. I have always found it difficult to feel energy and I thought it was just that some people find it easier than others and thought nothing more of it. Recently I was made aware of this blocking energy and found Sean via the internet. I had one remote session with Sean via Skype and my problem was resolved. Sean conducted a past life regression and we discovered that a traumatic past life had caused my current energetic condition and Sean enabled me to heal this issue during the session without the need for further remedial work. I am still amazed that this issue was so quickly resolved and Sean's session was my first past life regression therapy. I was extremely pleased with Sean's guidance and results and I have no hesitation in recommending him to others who are considering contacting him for assistance. Neil G, Perth, Western Australia

I met Paul in a meditation group when I was also looking for my first hypnotherapist due to chronic left-sided facial pain. Glad that I came across Paul. He is now a core part of my healing process. During the first session Paul was able to take me to some core areas of myself that were contracted due to unpleasant experiences. Hard to explain. I was able to be with these experiences and actually flip the unpleasant nature of them and shine light on them. This also allowed me to release stuck energy that I held behind my left eye for many years. I would have never thought this was possible since medications really didn't work well. I have seen Paul since the first session due to his knowledge, experience and ability to really connect with areas I'm not able to access on my own that are at the root of my chronic pain. I have recommended him to two friends. If you are looking for NLP/Hypnotherapy then you'll know what I mean when you meet him.

My experience with Ewa's hypnotherapy was fantastic. She really surprised me with the scope of her sessions - we talked about everything from past lives...to current dilemmas...to yummy herbal teas to drink for clarity. The hypnosis portion was always my favorite part...even though I was merely curious if it would work at first. Honestly, I found it to be the KEY for every session. Combined with the tarot cards she used, I received some Very Clear images to help me on my healing path. I highly recommend!!

I sought out Shannon because I have some subconscious blocks regarding relationships and I wanted to see if hypnosis would help me get past them. I immediately loved Shannon. She has a really calming and beautiful spirit that is immediately obvious upon meeting her. I saw her for 8 sessions. I really enjoyed my time working with her and I feel like we worked on a lot of core issues that I am struggling with. My only disappointment was that I was only put under hypnosis 2 times, and we focused on other issues aside from relationships in those sessions. The therapy was actually much more like traditional therapy in that most sessions involved discussing my life and issues I am dealing with. She gave me several exercises to complete that I found very helpful and enlightening. She has a really powerful and genuine energy. I would definitely recommend her, I would just say you should go in expecting more traditional therapy with hypnosis as one tool that she may use, but it wasn't the primary focus of the work. I am very grateful to Shannon for her help and I hope that many others will find her and benefit from her healing gifts.

I liked the peaceful environment in which my welcoming interview took place. I was made completely at ease before my hypnosis session, which ultimately helped me considerably, especially since I was able to tape it and listen back.

Beth is an excellent hypnotherapy practitioner and I have benefitted greatly from working with her. She has expertise in depth hypnosis, a modality that I find to be very powerful. In addition to her skills, Beth brings deep intuition and compassion, creating an environment that is most conducive for healing to take place. I recommend Beth highly.

I had gone through an ugly, expensive lawsuit to protect a musical copyright that had been infringed upon. Ultimately I had to let the lawsuit go, which impacted me financially, emotionally and creatively. Afterwards, I was shell-shocked and disillusioned which took the joy out of my life specifically in the area of creating music. My spirit was broken and I could not seem to fix it. I had never before experienced hypnosis. I came to it guarded but willing to try. Kaia was compassionate and patient in helping me identify the problems, As I relaxed into a dreamlike state she asked questions about where I was going, what I was feeling, and what I was seeing. Soon I just allowed myself to let go, moving into trust, going with the flow. I soon found myself before a locked portal. Behind were a series of other doors, all encased in Gothic arches with sacred energy, glowing with golden light. But I couldn’t enter because it was locked. It could not be forced open, and though I could see what lay behind it, I could not go around it either. Though this was frustrating, I began to realize that those cherished places were at least still there… I just had to find a key, though that would require work, time or whatever. Post-hypnotherapy, I continue to process. Taking heart, I now find I am achieving what I set out to do in that session: to reclaim those lost, battered parts of me, returning to my musical roots and moving on. My session was a cleansing, enlightening experience. I got tangible results upon which to build. UPDATE: The album in question is now up on Amazon and other sites. I continue selling my album and have just released a new one this year. The hypnotherapy was a significant step towards this outcome.

I used Carol's hypnotherapy to manage anxiety before a major surgery, to manage pain after surgery, and to help with a positive outcome. As a result, I went into surgery without apprehension. The doctor told me to expect severe pain for a week after surgery and gave me oxy. I never had to take a single pill as I had no pain at all because Carol taught me hypnosis skills to manage pain. My potentially 3 night hospital stay was only one night because I felt so good. At my 2 week follow-up visit the surgeon released me far sooner than he normally would have he said because I had healed so well and quickly. I credit the work that I did with Carol for preparing me for a pain free outcome and quick recovery. I recommend her without hesitation.

Receiving Alchemical Hypnotherapy was a new experience for me, and I was somewhat anxious when starting. Christina's professionalism and calm presence helped bring me into a relaxed and comfortable state of mind. Because of this and the hypnotherapy meditation I was able to work on some of my deeper emotional and relational challenges. Challenges that I was not able to access through other forms of therapy.

Maria worked with me on my fears using EFT (tapping) and helped me with my fear of stairs, heights, crowds and water. She followed it up with a hypnotherapy session to internalize the new positive associations. As a side bonus, I slept like a baby and didn't have insomnia.

      About

I use a unique combination of techniques, skills and approaches which are evidenced based, that is, shown to be effective in a clinical setting. I have learned these practices over the course of twenty-one years. I have a lot of practice and experience. The practices I use are based on Interpersonal and dynamic psychotherapuetic techniques, Hypnotherapy, EFT (Emotioanl Freedom Teachnique), Transformational NLP (Neuro-Linguistic Programming) which is a therapuetic application method of NLP I learned from a program developed in part by a psychotherapist and NLP practitioner. I am also a Family Constellation Practitioner which is a very unique modality that allows me to adress issues of past generational entanglments that may be blocking you. These "entanglements" are literally ways in which, on a very deep, other than conscious level we have taken on problems and burdens on behalf of a parent, grandparent or other ancestor(s). Most recently, over the past five years I have applied my skills working in a clinical setting for a nonprofit organization within the Behavioral Health Services network of providers of San Francisco Ca. I have over 6000 hours of supervised clinical practice working with people with extreme life challenges (Chronic chemical dependance, mental health and physical health challenges). The techniques and practices I use proved very helpful to the people I worked with.

      About

At Frame of Mind Hypnotherapy we use a technique called "Deep Trance Hypnosis". It puts the client into a wonderfully deeply relaxed state in the body as well as the mind which helps on so many levels. Clients say it feels like they have had a truly great 10 hour sleep, it feels that deep. The Hypnosis actually only goes for 45 to 60 minutes and the whole session is 2 hours but the client feels as if they had a mini-vacation, super relaxed! We call it a massage for the mind but since there is no separation between the mind and the body, the body benefits from this deep trance work as well...feeling so relaxed!

      About

I offer hypnotherapy, wellness coaching, yoga instruction, and life systems for healing, reinventing, breaking habits, and developing new habits. I have special interests in PTSD, rape, sexual abuse/assault, domestic violence, inner child and habits developing from such as well as intimacy, sexuality, performance and trust development. Just like computers need rebooting, so does your mind. Face it; your mind may be tired and need rewiring. It's only been continuously absorbing information since you were conceived, and there may be some bad memories, bad habits, and glitches in your system that are holding you back from your true health, happiness, and success. I offer hypnotherapy as a direct route to the neural pathways you want rerouted. Beyond that, I offer life systems that address your relationship to food, fitness, environment and future. You are a force to be reckoned with, and everything in, on, and around you is simultaneously a product of your thinking and a tool for you to create the life you truly want.

      About

      About

We (Jim and Lynn) have been happy "newlyweds" for over 30 years, sharing common interests and passions. This makes our practice unique, with each of us sharing our special strengths and talents, truly complimenting one another. Clients get "two for one" when they sign up with us, as it is not uncommon for a client to meet individually one time with me and another time with Lynn, making sure the client meets with the person with the specific expertise to assure success. Our clients get the full advantage of each one's unique expertise and specialty services. Both of us are highly skilled hypnotherapists but with specialities in different areas. I have over forty years of counseling experience and specialize in addiction and 12-step support, family and relationship problems, memory/recall (test taking), spirituality and resolution of traumatic events. Lynn specializes in smoke cessation, building confidence and self-esteem, weight management, and professional development (e.g. accomplishing goals, public speaking, procrastination). Of course, both of us handle many other concerns and we consult each other regularly to be sure each client receives the very best we can offer.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      How does hypnosis work?

Hypnosis is a wellness technique that works by promoting positive behavioral or cognitive changes. During successful hypnosis, the client should be eased into a state of deep relaxation in which the conscious mind takes a back seat and the subconscious mind becomes more active. The client is often able to let go of critical thoughts and become receptive to the therapist’s suggestions. In this state of hypnosis, motivating suggestions can bypass your usual mental resistance and internal defense mechanisms. For example, even if you want to quit overeating cupcakes, you may have some level of resistance that your rational mind can’t overcome. During hypnosis, the positive suggestions made by the hypnotherapist can bypass your usual blocks, helping you to achieve the formerly unachievable: stopping overeating, quitting smoking, mastering public speaking, or losing your fear of heights. The goal of hypnosis is to strengthen and empower the client’s motivation, commitment and focus. Consider working with someone who is not just trained in hypnosis but also is a licensed therapist or psychotherapist who can bring their academic background into your session.

What can hypnosis help you with?

According to many sources including the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) which is part of the United States National Library of Medicine and a branch of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), hypnosis is scientifically proven to help relieve both mental challenges and physical pains. Hypnosis can alleviate stress and reduce pain after surgeries, has been shown to relieve anxiety in children in the emergency room, and can be useful for managing pain associated with everything from arthritis to migraines. Hypnosis is non-invasive and gives you a way to control pain or discomfort that might otherwise seem out of your hands. Hypnosis shouldn’t be used as a substitute for medical care, but may be an excellent complementary tool that is best provided by a trained therapist or licensed medical provider. The University of Maryland Medical Center shares many conditions for which hypnosis can be useful:

      • Irritable bowel syndrome
      • Tension headaches
      • Alopecia areata
      • Asthma
      • Phobias
      • Insomnia
      • Addictions
      • Bedwetting
      • Fibromyalgia
      • Labor and delivery
      • Skin disorders, such as acne, psoriasis and eczema (atopic dermatitis)
      • Stress
      • Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
      • Cancer-related pain
      • Weight loss
      • Eating disorders
      • Warts
      • Indigestion (dyspepsia)
      • Post-traumatic stress disorder
      • Smoking cessation

How is hypnosis used in therapy?

Hypnosis is a powerful tool to help clients overcome challenging issues such as anxiety, phobias, pain management, hot flashes and more. Hypnosis is also a way to help let go of addictions like smoking, overeating and gambling. In and of itself, hypnosis is not a therapy, but it can be used in conjunction with therapy to empower and encourage the person receiving it to make positive change. Some people are more susceptible to hypnosis and will benefit more from hypnotherapy than others.

According to Dr. Clifford N. Lazarus, speaking for Psychology Today, hypnosis is a “genuine psychological phenomenon that has valid uses in clinical practice … hypnosis is a state of highly focused attention or concentration, often associated with relaxation, and heightened suggestibility. While under hypnosis (i.e., in a hypnotic trance), it seems many people are much more open to helpful suggestions than they usually are.” The suggestions made in a therapeutic setting get deep into a person’s brain, beyond their conscious thinking, leading to behavior change and the ability to overcome challenges that might otherwise seem insurmountable.

What is the effectiveness of hypnosis?

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services recognizes the healing power of hypnosis and its proven effectiveness for anxiety, pain control, smoking cessation, headaches and more. Hypnosis may be safe and complementary way to augment medical attention you are receiving for a chronic illness or pain, or a way to resolve an addiction or phobia that you are otherwise unable to control. Hypnosis does not work on every person. When scientists began studying hypnosis in earnest, a report published by Stanford University titled “The Stanford Hypnotic Susceptibility Scale” demonstrated that different brains respond to hypnosis in varying degrees, and a very few do not respond at all. Working with a trained psychologist, you’ll soon determine whether you are a good candidate for the healing benefits of hypnotherapy.

During a hypnotherapy session, the therapist will bring you into a state of deep relaxation in which the critical, conscious part of your brain recedes and the subconscious mind becomes alert and focused. The therapist will make suggestions, based on your intended goals, that will take root in your subconscious mind. These suggestions should affect your thinking in a positive way and empower you to make change.
