I hired Mario to install 2’x2’ tile on an outdoor patio of about 1900 square feet, straddling a 5 year old cement slab and a newer 18 month old cement slab. The challenge was that the slope to the existing drains was way too steep, and the slope between the old and new slabs was causing water to pool between the slabs. In addition, the newer slab had settled in quite a few places, creating cracks that I worried would be transmitted to the tile above. Mario and team spent the first week leveling the new slab by ripping strips with a concrete circular saw, then chiseling out the cement with a roto-hammer. He then covered the two slabs with a rubberized Lacticrete and applied fiberglass mesh over every crack and expansion seam in the two slabs. Finally, to minimize the amount of thinset used, he glued 1/4’ thick cement board all around the two slabs in order to create proper drainage slopes to the 3 drains. An amazing amount of prep work just to get to the point of laying tile, which he and his team of 4 proceeded to install over the following 4 weeks. There are beautiful miter joints at the corners and landings, edge pieces that make the slab seem comprised of 5” thick tiles, and tight 1/8” joints all around numerous pillars and other obstacles. The final product is a work of art, and the level of effort and attention to detail cannot be overstated. I have several other projects in mind for Mario and team, and highly recommend their work!

Details: Outside patio • Floor • 401 - 500 sq ft • Concrete • Natural Stone • No, but I will buy the tiles myself

Mario did a great job on a strip of tile that needed to be re-grouted. He is very friendly and personable and easy to communicate with. He did a very neat and professional job and completely cleaned up afterward. I recommend him highly.

Details: Kitchen • Less than 25 sq ft • Yes, I already have the tiles

I hired Mario to install 1900 sf of outdoor patio tile on two concrete slabs poured at different phases of construction. The challenge -- the existing drainage slope was too steep, and the slope between the old and new slabs was causing water to pool between the slabs. He then covered the two slabs with a rubberized Lacticrete and applied fiberglass mesh over every crack and expansion seam in the two slabs. Finally, to minimize the amount of thinset used, he poured self-leveling concrete between the two slabs and covered that with Lacticrete, then glued 1/4" hardiboard as required to create proper drainage slopes to the 3 drains. An amazing amount of prep work just to get to the point of laying tile, which he and his team of 4 proceeded to install over the following 4 weeks.
