Neil has been awesome and I have learned so much since I started taking drum lessons with Neil about a year ago. I had been a recreational drummer for many years but was lacking guidance to take my drumming to the next level. Neil has a great program that focuses on reading music, playing rudiments and learning various drum beats for rock, funk and more. Neil also play bass, which has been a great accompaniment for practice sessions. In addition, Neil has given me great insights into practicing better with my band, tips for playing live and how to become a better musician in general. Very highly recommended!!

I first saw Wally at a San Jose drum workshop and was speechless after seeing his playing and explanation of odd meter. Being a guitarist, I wondered if Wally would teach me. Six + years later, my lessons have evolved from scratching the surface of odd meter, learning how jazz chords and related elements work, to employing and using what I've learned in composition. I get excited and look forward to my lesson every week. Wally is one of the nicest people you could ever meet. I highly recommend him as an instructor.

I strongly recommend Diego as an excellent professor of piano, who really motivates students to develop their ability. He gave piano lessons to my older daughter for more than 5 years since she was in high school, until some months ago. I am very grateful to Diego for encouraging Almudena, my daughter, to find a way of expressing herself through music.

I’ve taken multiple drum lessons with Cole over the last few years, not consistently but just whenever I have the time. He has been incredibly helpful and supportive while also recognizing that I can’t take lessons weekly and tailoring the lessons I do get infrequently to be as constructive and useful as possible. A+

Thomas is the best music teacher ever. He's giving our whole family lessons at this point and we couldn't be happier with his approach and with our progress. The great thing about Thomas is that he understands music so well, so inside and out, that he can magically see what you need, and how you need to learn, and then teach you that way. He does not bring a one-size-fits-all approach. Take my family for example... he sees that I enjoy abstract thinking and theory... so we talk about the mathematics of music and song structure and why John Williams sucks. My wife on the other hand is more naturally talented, so he has her composing melodies and learning complicated fingering techniques. My daughter is learning how to read music and keep time, and my mother-in-law is starting with simple versions of Vivaldi. We're all roughly at the same level, but he's helping us each approach music in our own way so that we LOVE it. It's difficult to overstate what a truly gifted teacher Thomas is. He's also just a warm, wonderful person. Good luck finding someone better.

I have been a student of Seinin’s for the past 8 years and she has been a great instructor and friend. She is very knowledgeable in every about drum kits, cymbals, drum sticks and all the other accessories drums come with. She also has drum lessons that teach kids sight reading and music theory. She will always give you the best advice and tools for whatever you need. Seinin is second to none in her field of drums!

I was skeptical initially when going online to seek a professional drum instructor for my son. Thumbtack made this process an experience parallel to buying an item from Amazon online. It was easy and I got immediate results.

My young son, who has some learning challenges and anxiety, has been working with Mike for a couple of months now. When I initially contacted Mike I was concerned he may be put off by these challenges but he did not miss a beat (pun intended ;) and responded right away to his needs without hesitation. Mike's expertise and easy going patient manner make him a perfect instructor. He has lit a fire in my son and made him see that he too can be a drummer. For this I am so grateful! If you're considering drum lessons for yourself or a family member, I highly recommend Mike Shannon!

I am also a Yamaha regional endorsed drummer. I have been drumming for the past 48+ years. I do drum repairs and drum maintenance. I play in bands around the Bay area. I love playing, but I love teaching drums the most.

Hello everyone! I am a local drummer and drum teacher, I teach from beginner to intermediate drummers. I have been playing the drums for a number of years as well as teaching. I travel to houses as well as offer lessons at my house. Students are not required to have their own drum set! My rate is $25/half hour. I have been drumming for 4 years and have fallen in love with the instrument. I have excelled in my drumming and now perform at churches in the local Santa Cruz area. I love drums because it is completely unique to every drummer, each individual drummer gets to express him/herself through their own musical interests and thats awesome!

About

I have a very unique and complicated style that I would like to share with others, also my previous teaching experience gives me an advantage.

My work stands out from others because I focus less on formal training and discipline by centering lessons around what students really want to play. If your goal is to learn how to accompany a big band, I can teach you how to "set up" licks and accents. If your goal is to learn how to "jam" with a rock band, I will teach you. If you simply want to learn how to play your favorite songs, we will break those down and learn section by section. The best part of my job is seeing others feel happy and accomplished after learning a tough beat/rudiment/song, etc. They can truly see and feel accomplished when being guided by laid back, supportive instruction.

About

Hello, my name is Colin Mitchell, and I have been studying music for the past 12 years. I come from a very musical family. My personal musical background starts with jazz and Latin drumming, both on the drum set and other forms of percussion (djembe, bongos, etc.) It's where I built a foundation to learn and grow with all other styles of music, such as fusion, rock, blues, salsa, bossa nova, reggae, metal, indie, folk, trip hop, and basically all styles of music I have strongly adapted to, and I would love to spread the knowledge and gift of all music. I not only teach the dynamics and fundamentals of the drums, but also the theory of music. That would include how to read music and the analysis of music (analyzing music scores or pieces or even just audio), but if that is not part of your goal or is not in your plans, that's okay, too! Anything that has to do with teaching music and even how to just play your favorite songs is definitely something I am strong at. It doesn't matter what style or what it is; I believe that teaching music will always better myself as a person and musician, too! If you are someone who would like help with only theory practice that is 20 dollars an hour, I prefer not to do less than an hour of theory work. I am located in Berkeley. I look forward to hearing and meeting you!
