I had a few Spanish lessons with Borja, how helped me to deepen my spanish knowledge. As I am living and working in Nicaragua for 6 months, for me the most important was to be able to lead conversations with locals. Therefore we spoke a lot in Spanish during our Skype session where we discussed actual experiences of travelling and the life here and he helped me to improve my descriptions. As I learned basic Spanish by myself I wanted to improve the grammar because I still have problems with the verbs. We are about to solve this problem, "poco y poco". I also got material to train and improve my Spanish by myself and we are reviewing the homework I do after each lesson every week.
I've been meeting with Nando for a few weeks for Spanish lessons and have been very impressed with his ability to personalize informative language lessons to my level. He makes his own materials which are WONDERFUL, and is very flexible with meeting places and times. He comes to you! Highly recommend Nando...amazing service for a great price.
Kristina is a patient instructor and a compassionate and kind person! She makes learning Spanish fun and is able to apply concepts to real-life situations, increasing knowledge retention. I have been seeing her for 6 weeks now to help with medical spanish, and I can't say enough positive things about the experience :)
I took two spanish lessons with Cristian before learning I will be be relocating for work. During our sessions he was a great help introducing me to the Spanish language and challenging me to learn in new and improved ways! I only wish I could keep up the classes!!
They were a great beginner lesson. Initially the classes lacked a bit of structure but towards the end they were more planned and methodical.
Ina is a gifted and patient teacher, especially for a fumbling beginner like myself. She is very accommodating in scheduling sessions.
Sylvia is tutoring my daughters in Spanish. They never had Spanish before, and when they moved to a new school, the level of Spanish is very advance for someone who never had the lessons. Sylvia works with them in getting them up to speed. In a short time, both my children had become comfortable in following the lesson at school, and I have noticed that both of them have made quite significant improvements. My oldest daughter tells me that once she is comfortable with her Spanish, she wants to start French with Sylvia. I am sure that if either of my kids need tutoring in Math, Sylvia would be the one we go to. If your child or children need extra help in academic, I HIGHLY RECOMMEND that you call Sylvia. My children are very happy with how she teaches. Sylvia is also opens to different approaches in teaching. If my kids want more challenge, all they have to do is tell Sylvia and she will give them challenging lessons.
I love the Spanish lessons I took from Paulo he is a great Spanish tutor! His schedule is flexible, programs are customized and lessons are fun! After trying RosetaStone, group classes, apps, I was not sure if Spanish is for me. But after taking private tutoring, I actually started communicating in Spanish!. Spanish from Chile is different from central America is more proper and is better to use with the other Spanish speakers countries. I strongly recommend Paulo is fun Spanish with class lessons if you are looking for an Spanish tutor that work!

I wanted to start learning Spanish while I stayed in US one month and I found Lena through Thumbtack. Although she was surprised that I chose her among a number of other teachers since she didn't have any reviews yet, I felt right after reading Lena's self introduction, that she is exactly that teacher with whom I want to learn Spanish. I encourage also others to choose other starting teachers without reviews and give them a chance, because my experience with Lena is very good. Lena is smart, interesting, friendly, talkative, always on time etc. Probably it is impossible to learn a new language within a couple of classes (at least for me it is), but within this time I hope to get an overview of the nature of language and know some basic things. Learning with Lena is flexible - you can compose your lessons according to your personal needs and level. Lena always contributes my ideas and wishes, also offers them from her side as well.
Ms. Zepeda has been tutoring my homeschooled 4th grade son in Spanish. He is very bright but new to the language, and really needed a sharp, encouraging, supportive instructor to help him along. Raquel has been such a wonderful blessing. Warm, patient, intelligent, dependable, and professional--she's been fantastic for our child. He is learning a lot and is excited about the process, due in no small amount to her fun and savvy guidance. He really looks forward to lessons with her! I would highly recommend you see if she is a match for your family, as well.
I teach Spanish, either oral or written, in 1-hour private classes. I have 2 years experience doing so. Thank you for your interest. I am looking forward to hearing from you soon.
I am an experienced Spanish tutor and native Spanish speaker. I was born and raised in Costa Rica. Costa Rican Spanish is very neutral and clear, as we dont have a very strong accent and dont omit sounds in spoken words. I, myself, studied English as a second language for many years before moving to California. I know exactly what it is to learn a new language, and I am very familiar with all the grammar lingo and rules of my language. Being fluent in both languages allows me to teach you very efficiently, as I can easily draw similarities between the two languages and can find the best way to teach you the new concepts, vocabulary, etc. I look forward to meeting you and helping you with your Spanish! -Esteban

¡Hola! My name is Sarah de Guzman, and I am here to welcome you and your children to the magical world of the Spanish language. It is often said that we learn best by doing. My approach to teaching engages the imaginations and hearts of my students, in a way which leaves them feeling excited about speaking Spanish. It has been said that we discover another soul within when we speak another language. I feel this is true. I offer individual, groups, parent and child, and family Spanish classes. Here are some sample Spanish class designs: * Beginning, conversational lessons at a cafe * Creating fashion catalogs and play acting TV shows * Walking on Piedmont Avenue and talking about neighborhood life * Singing songs and dancing to musical tunes * Writing essays for Honors Spanish * Practicing travel-based scenarios for a vacation to Mexico with the kids About me: I have been teaching Spanish for ten years within the independent, private school community of the Bay Area. Here are some of the schools I have led Spanish departments and/or co-taught at: The Bentley High School, Prospect Sierra, Duck's Nest Preschool, Redwood Day School, and The Aurora School. Currently, I teach in the Kindergarten through 4th grade program at Lighthouse Community Charter School in Oakland. Finally, I recently graduated with a master's degree in Somatic Psychology at John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill. A review: Sarah has a tremendous enthusiasm and passion for speaking Spanish. She put all of my worries at ease, and helped me gracefully transition from a stuttering, insecure speaker, into a conversationalist! She carefully guides you in the direction you need without pushing too hard. I highly recommend her classes!-Former student
