I hired Karen to help us with my newly rescued cockapoo that had a serious issue with aggressive behavior and biting. The first session with Karen was in my home for three hours. In that time Karen explained her background, philosophy, and approach to dog training, where I am the pack leader, not my dog.. The information she gave us was invaluable, and we worked with Jax, using everything Karen advised us to do. When we had our next session, Karen first sat with us to hear how things were going, and I was so excited to tell her of Jax's progress! I would definitely recommend Karen of Bow Wow Method to help you train your dog. She is friendly, professional, experienced, and reasonably priced. 👍🏼😊Apr 13, 2017VerifiedThe Bow Wow Method of Dog Training's reply
Hi D.F., How is everything? Please let me know if there is anything else I can do for you like playmates or boarding? Karen
Karen has been an invaluable help to Hank and me! Before Karen, I was feeling quite overwhelmed and anxious with Hank on walks and he was barking and growling at other dogs. Karen helped reassure, calm, and contain both of us. She explained her philosophy very clearly and was kind, encouraging, and patient while being strong and direct with her approach. Hank already feels so much calmer on walks and I am feeling so much more confident as his pack leader. Karen provided me with a sense of relief and hope and I would absolutely recommend her to anyone needing any sort of assistance with their dog. Karen has been incredible and I can't wait until our next training session!Feb 21, 2017Verified
Karen Mangini said that she charges $ 60.00 per hour and I said that I can't afford more then 3 to 4 hours. I figured it would be a hour a day. but after I hired her she said that she will come for 3 1/2 hours the next day for $ 200 and then come back another day for 1 hr. for $ 50. She arrive late because she made known that she came from woodland hills and I am in Monrovia. than after 20 mins she said I don't know if I can help you, kept stating that I need to be the leader of the pack and to spit in my dogs food, and that my dog don't respect me. she did show me how to walk him. she told me I was too stressed and my dog feels it. she also said that she is telepathic with dogs. any way it was not a good experience for me and she only stay 2 hrs. and I gave her 200 dollars in cash. I felt like I wasted my hard earned money and didn't really get anything for it. she spend most of the time telling me stories. shelly BeckerOct 24, 2016VerifiedThe Bow Wow Method of Dog Training's reply
I am so sorry that you were not happy Shelly! You told me you were?! I explained my pricing to you on our first phone call, perhaps you dont remember? I agreed to come back to you at a discounted price because I understand that money was an issue for you. If you would like a full refund, let me know and I will mail you check. I am truly sorry that you are not happy.
Karen from the start very professional and friendly. She is very knowledgable and at first I did not pay attention to the reviews about "hitting". I don't believe everything I see or read till there in front me. There's 2 sides to every story. So we hired her, and the first session she taught us how to train our dog. She gave us the tools to be our own trainers. We embodied that information and it worked!! 2nd session we walked, worked hands on. It went great!! Yes she did show us how the mother would use her nose to push off her pups and we did it, and guess what... He no longer jumps on us. 3rd session we walked and yes it takes time, but what a difference. We love Karen and have gave us the knowledge to move forward with our dog. Can't wait for the 4th session at the dog park. Thanks Karen!!!May 11, 2016Verified
Karen came to our home to help us with our two mutts, Lily and Boris. They are dear sweethearts but have bad behavior like leash aggression and not respecting boundaries at home. We were running in circles and went to thumbtack for professional help. Karen responded to our inquiry quickly and offered to do private sessions in our home. We knew we'd be training ourselves in addition to the dogs and Karen showed us how to be the Alpha dogs. After our first session, the dogs were already responding to us differently. Over the next two weeks we used what Karen taught us to change the dynamic of the pack. It feels like we live in a different home now! Somehow our sweet dogs are even sweeter, we get to enjoy more personal space, and all of our anxiety about their behavior on the leash is under control. Karen gave us the tools we needed to put our home in order. We had a great experience with Karen and have already recommended our friends to her.Jul 24, 2016VerifiedThe Bow Wow Method of Dog Training's reply
Thank you Evan!! Good luck in your new adventure. Remember that I can also help you over the phone, if you need it.
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)? My fee is $90 an hour. It usually takes about 3 sessions, depending on your needs and your dogs issues. We spread the sessions out over a 2 to 3 week period. When YOU change, your dog will change, so the first session is the longest. I will be educating you so you can train you're own dog. The next sessions take only 1 to 2 hours. That is all you need to have the kind of dog you have always dreamt of having! But remember, I am extremely flexible and I work around your schedule and your budget.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? If you begin to implement the techniques with your dog that I walk you through step-by-step in the first session, you will see changes in your dog right away, which will give you the incentive to be consistent, follow through and mean it, until your dog relaxes, feels safe and respects you. Once a dog feels safe and respects you can get them to do what ever you want.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I have an deep, innate understanding of dogs and all of their behavior that I will share with you. I have a background in psychology. My formal dog training was with "efils god training" which involved all matters of dog obedience, boundaries and how to communicate with dogs. Dogs communicate from their hearts and they need someone to respect. I will show you how to do that! I call it "No more somethin' for nothin'" and how to embody the "Pack Leader Mentality" (with a mothers' touch). I derive a lot of my methods for my mother, she was a child psychologist.
