Introduction: As a Professional Organizer with over 16 years of experience, I offer many services. I service the Los Angeles, Ventura, and Santa Barbara County areas. I do not charge for travel time and there are NO contracts where a client is required to pay for a large amount of hours up-front. I charge an hourly rate and it is only for the time that I am actually there working in the residence/storage/business, etc. We offer: 1. Organizing 2. Packing/Unpacking 3. Downsizing 4. Decluttering/Organizing A Home to List for Sale 5. Assisting Clients with Special Needs (ADD/ADHD/Dementia/Alzheimer's to name a few) 6. Organizing is a passion and I enjoy sharing this with my clients. I have always enjoyed helping others and no two projects are ever the same. Are you overcome with clutter? Downsizing? I can help you with the sorting process and the decisions regarding what to keep and what to let go of. We pack according to the needs of your move. Is it a local move? Out-of-state? (an out-of-state move requires additional detail.) We include the packing paper. room labeling tape and tape for the boxes (no extra charge.) The labeling of the rooms will provide a much quicker way to organize the boxes for unpacking at your next residence. Everything is clearly labeled (room labels are color-coded) and there is special labeling for anyboxes that you will need within the first 24-48 hours. (please see my photos.) Unpacking? Have you just moved into your home and do not have the time to unpack? Do you want the added touch or a Professional Organizer? It is a pleasure to offer this and we still include items at no additional cost. We can not only unpack and organize your items, but we maximize every bit of the space you may have. When I complete the organization of a room or home, many times it will provide a life-changing experience for my client, especially those who have been dealing with clutter for many years. For those who are dealing with a lack of space, I am able to maximize that space In ways you never thought of and show you how to keep it that way. Special Needs? I have many adult clients with ADD/ADHD. Over the years I have come up with many different solutions to help solve the problem of clutter that you are dealing with. I have raised a child with ADHD and have taken care of someone with Parkinson's/Alzheimer's. I can honestly state that I relate to what you and/or a caregiver may be experiencing. I am here to help. For clients or caregivers who need assistance with Dementia/Alzheimer's, I also have helpful ways to relieve some of the issues you may be facing. Laurie is the best professional certified organizer out there! She so sweet and caring and gets the job done without any hidden fees. She provides organizers at no additional cost. Doesn’t charge for mileage or assessment consultation. She organized my living room, cabinets and kitchen and we are very happy with her work! I had boxes of stuff I had not gone through in years and she help sort and organize everything which created a lot of more space for us to move around. She makes things very accessible. I wish I could hire her all the time. We definitely plan to hire her again in the future. For anyone looking to hire a professional organizer I highly recommend Laurie at A Time to be Organized! Don’t waste time with anyone else, trust me, I looked around and talked with others and saw a difference where others are out to make a profit. So glad we hired A Time to be organized to help pack our home for a move. From beginning to end, communication was great. Laurie got back to me right away as soon as I made an inquiry and we were able to set everything up. I sent photos of everything that needed to be packed so that they knew how many boxes (roughly) were needed. Shauna came to our home to pack everything and did such a great job! She was cautious with our belongings and asked questions when needed. She’d also bring up things I hadn’t even thought of which was so appreciated. On top of all that, she was so pleasant and easy to talk to. I didn’t feel at all like I had a stranger in my home. Would definitely recommend and hire them again. Thank you!

Laurie and Rhonda were fantastic to work with! Rhonda arrived on time and immediately got to work. She is organized and works very hard. Because of the work Rhonda did at my home, I felt a peace when all the junk was cleared and the closet was organized. On top of all that, she was so sweet and kind. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I offer a discount for clients on Thumbtack. It is difficult to specify an exact quote because every project is different. Someone may contact me to organize a closet and I also have clients that are downsizing from a large home that they no longer need to a smaller one that is more manageable. During a consultation, I can walk into a room with 50 boxes to organize. I have no idea what is contained in those boxes and most of the time, neither does my client. There may be boxes with as few as 4-5 items while others may contain thousands of pieces of mail or paperwork. I never know how much or how little I am dealing with or how fast or slow a client may work at sorting through the items to decide what to keep, donate, etc. There can be a lot more involved in this and this is the reason that I cannot provide an exact quote. I will do my best with an estimate if I have a client that insists on one, but I am trying to be fair with my response.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
I begin by speaking with the potential client over the phone and discussing their project in detail. I will find out what is involved, (how large is the project...does it involve a closet? room? entire home? garage? I will ask for their time-frame for the project. I will be looking for details to help me answer their questions. Because of the number of years in my profession (Organizing, Moving, and much more) I can look at a space and maximize the space to its' fullest potential. I take pride in this because in many homes, space is limited. My clients want to arrive home and feel proud of their surroundings. I can help them do this and very quickly! It is the end result and the happiness of my client that has kept me doing this for as long as I have. I truly love my work and what it does for others and they will see this. I also have many referrals a new client can speak with.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have 16+ years of experience as an organizer and I am certified. I regularly take classes to stay on top of the latest and greatest but most of my experience is hands-on and I have so many different ways to work with my clients. I also teach classes and speak to groups on topics such as Organizing, Downsizing and Hoarding.
