I am a graduate student of creative writing in San Francisco State's MFA program. I graduated cum laude from Harvard University in 2010 with a BA in English and american language and literature. After graduation, I spent the 2010-2011 academic year living and teaching in the Marshall Islands through the program, WorldTeach. During this year, I was the sole English language teacher for all K-8 students on Namdrik Atoll (approximately 175 students), responsible for the development and implementation of the English language curriculum.
I received my TEFL qualification through WorldTeach. Upon returning to the US in 2011, I studied urban education at Mills College in Oakland, CA and worked as a student teacher in a sixth grade humanities classroom in Oakland.
I completed coursework in curriculum development, adolescent development, and teaching English language learners. During this time, I also passed the CBEST and English CSET. I tutor English, literature, writing, reading, history and college application assistance.
I charge a sliding scale of $50 to $60 per hour.
