Tiffany did a great job taking care of my cat Rufio. She sent videos and photos of him during her visits and took in all of our mail/packages. Tiffany clearly loves animals and her knowledge of animals put us as it ease with her in charge. I would not hesitate in hiring her for future cat sitting needs.

While away the person taking care of my dog went into the hospital. At wits end I call a friend who gave me Roseanne's number. I called and spoke to her as she was driving to pick up my dog and bring her back to my home where Roseanne ended up staying for three weeks! She called me everyday for updates and to let me know all was great with my puppy! I had not met her but when I arrived home I met an awesome Lady!!! TRUST is the first word that comes to mind! I didn't know Roseanne but she had my precious girl and the keys to my house! I returned to a very happy American bulldog who was in beautiful condition. Roseanne is in control of the situation and has compassion for the job she is doing . She does it well. She took beautiful care of my girl as well as my house. Roseanne is neat and tidy and kept my house and yard as if it was her own. I will highly recommend Ms. Roseanne Farinacci to anyone that needs pet care or even just home care. As a person Roseanne is trust worthy, respectful, kind, caring, loving and most of all Happy. If anything that's the best part because the your pet will be Happy.

My husband and I hired Heather To help Us with our pup Summer. Heather was great at assisting us in overcoming summer's anxiety with her leash. Heather's caring and patient work with Summer successfully cured her resistance to being walked. Heather also worked with Summer on some basic commands like sitting and staying. Heather was wonderful with the work she did with Summer.

Sue has been working with me and my two min pins, Coco and Tootsie on behavior modification issues. I was at the point of contacting the breeder to give one of them back - basically at the end of my rope. I'd worked with other dog. trainers, but Sue explained and showed how to manage and modify behavior that was easy to comprehend and made sense. I am not exaggerating when I say she has literally changed my life and helped me rethink how to interact with my girls. I am very grateful.

We are so lucky to have found Vanessa, she is absolutely wonderful and so great with all our animals (Guinea pigs, tortoise, chickens and three labradors) she also waters all my plants out back and is just very caring and qualified. I feel so happy to know she is staying at our home while we have to travel to love and care for all our animals.

I've known jason for about a year now. Within that time I don't know what I would've done without him. He helped me pack, organize and move at s very reasonable rate. He was professional and funny which took the stress of moving down quite a few notches. He's also stayed in my home to watch my very high matinence animals, two 30+ cats, that will eat your eyeballs out if not fed in time and my crazy English pointer who has to have none stop exercise. I don't know how this guy does it but I highly recommend a Jason. This is coming from a high matinence princess herself. If you need a verbal reference I'd've happy to give one 916-390-5416. Sincerely Desiree. I give him 10 out of 5 stars 😀

My work stands out because of the love I have for animals and the fact that I am very honest and dependable.

I have a great amount of experience, as for 2 years, I helped my daughter found her support and rescue service for abandoned pets in Texas. I have a huge love & appreciation for all animals. I have two Rescued dogs of my own (1 Blue Nose Stafordshire & a Dogo Argintino) who are my husband's & my "kids" now that our 2 legged kids are grown. We have always had pets of all kinds throughout life, including, but not limited to, sled dogs in Alaska. I spent the last year & 1/4 taking care full time of an aging disabled Great Pyrenees who walked with the help of a wheel chair.until he passed on to the Rainbow Bridge a few weeks ago. 1 hr. a day I still feed & care for his little "brother" a Boston Terrier. That leaves a number of hours a day/night to love & care for your fur babies. There's nothing I enjoy more about being retired than how much time it gives me to hang out with so many precious & interesting characters.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is house sitting?

A house sitter watches your house while you are away for work or vacation, or if you have to be away for an extended period. House sitters can also provide pet-sitting services, staying in your home and caring for your pet while you are away. The house sitter can say overnight in your home while you’re gone, or stop by once a day to ensure everything is in order if your pet doesn’t need overnight supervision. Reptiles and most cats are just fine with daily visits and feeding.

House sitting provides major advantages to the homeowner. A regular presence in your house deters break-ins and theft. Home safety issues such as water leaks get noticed and dealt with right away, so you don’t come home to big problems. A house sitter can bring in your mail daily, care for your houseplants, and provide home safety and peace of mind.

How do I find a reliable house sitter?

House sitting can help keep your home safe and well cared for so you can be worry-free while you’re away for work or play. There are several steps you can take to make sure you hire a trustworthy house sitter and do your part to be a responsible host. One of the best ways to ensure a safe home is to hire a professional house sitter. Here are some key points to look for when hiring a house sitter:

  • Reviews and referrals: When searching for a house sitter, always read reviews. Previous experiences will indicate how the house sitter will care for your home while you’re away.
  • Contract: Sign a clearly written contract outlining services to be provided (e.g., mail in each day by 5 p.m.), the daily rate you are paying, and how long the services will be provided. You can also include any agreed-upon house rules in the written contract.
  • Your part: Leave important phone numbers (vet, emergency contact, etc.) and information on where to find emergency items like the circuit breaker and the fire extinguisher, and have a credit card on file with the veterinarian in case of emergencies if the house sitter is watching your pets.
