I could not have been happier with Jim and his team. They installed a new wall (including installing the baseboard and crown moulding), retiled my entire bathroom (floor and shower stall), retiled my kitchen floor, and installed the backsplash in the kitchen. Also, they demo'd and prepped my kitchen countertops and then hookedup all the appliances after the countertops were put in. The ONLY reason that I didn't have Jim do the countertops as well is that I had to go with a full slab of Marble, and I had to go with someone who could do the fabrication.. Otherwise, I would have had Jim and his crew do everything.
Start to finish the project was about a month, but keep in mind this is only because I changed my mind to go with a full slab midway through the project. Otherwise, it would have been about a week start to finish.
All three projects turned out better than I could have hoped.
There were a couple unforeseen events - typical of any construction project (ie, the change to full slab of marble, and my want to have a custom shower handle). Jim took care of everything immediately and professionally. He was completely upfront about any additional costs (since I changed my mind after the initial quote, this was not a surprise) and let me make the decision. There were no surprise bills at any point in the project which was a refreshing change from previous contractors I have used.
Besides the construction skillset - Jim is a really nice guy. He's extremely honest, fair and responsive. He replied to countless emails and texts from me throughout the entire project. He showed up every day on time and worked efficiently and effectively. The same is true for the 3 guys on Jim's crew who worked on the projects.
I would strongly recommend Jim and his crew to anyone wanting a quality job done by someone they can trust at a fair and honest price.

My patio doors were leaking which caused both exterior and interior damage to the Sheetrock and wood. I also had a window taken out of my bedroom and a new retrofit installed. In addition, I needed a leak in my bathroom fixed and a new diverter installed. The initial quote was around 8hours of work. I took a day off from work and thought the job would be done in one day. The job ended early one day and went to the next day after I returned from work. Texturing was done after work on another day. All in all, work performed was quality. James is very nice and explained what he did. I would recommend him as a contractor. He shows up when he says and explains if he has to come back in order to finish to his standards.

Jim and the James Gang rehabbed an old, dilapidated carport in our backyard and transformed it into a beautiful new living space. While several other contractors told us our only choice was to tear this structure down and re-build it, Jim immediately saw different possibilities, and was able to retain much of the existing structure and fix the structural deficiencies, which made working through the city's permitting process much easier.
The James Gang worked to replace retaining walls, tear out old concrete and put it in a new concrete floor, replace studs, install new siding, paneling, windows and doors. Jim is a laid back guy, but also an excellent communicator, and is devoted to good craftsmanship and getting the job done. The guys worked very hard, often putting in 10 hour days. The project is fully permitted and passed inspection by City of San Rafael Bldg Dept- Jim managed this entire process for us from start to finish.
It has been a pleasure working with Jim and the James Gang and I highly recommend their services. In fact, we are already re-hiring them to do a few other jobs on our property, including installing a new gate and replacing wood retaining walls.

I would Highly recommend Jim Folan and James Gang Construction. I had a new home purchase that needed Kitchen Counters, Windows, Demolish a Garage and concrete pad, Building Fences. Jim's matched my lowest prices, communicated very well and very quickly, gave a lot of good advice. Very versatile guy. I had a couple of complaints along the way, but Jim responded to them immediately with professionalism. I plan on hiring him again.

Our new fence looks great. The crew worked quickly and they cleaned up after themselves. Price was reasonable.. would use them for future jobs.
