I was a little hesitant to train with Geoff at first since he owns a martial arts gym & I wasn't that interested in the sport. I saw an image in my head & wondered what training with him would be like. In my head I saw a scene from the karate kid & didn't think he'd give me the kind of workout I was looking for. I am SO glad I decided to ignore my initial hesitation & try things out. The workouts we do change every time & I'm constantly challenged & out of breath. He incorporates a boot camp style approach with weights, lunges, running & several surprises that will keep you guessing walking into each session. Geoff will push you but be right there with you, encouraging you the entire way. I came home from the first workout so sore & spent & was instantly addicted. My sister listened to me detail the session & signed herself up to train with Geoff the next day. My body is already transforming & my endurance is increasing. I won't be giving up my training time slot with Geoff anytime soon.

I first came upon Mehran about 8 years ago when looking for a karate program for my daughter. I had visited a few dojos in the area, and was concerned that the rigid, almost militaristic atmosphere would not be a good fit with my daughter’s easy-going, easily distractible nature. The first time I visited Mehran’s Okinawa Karate Academy’s kids’ workout he was immediately open and engaging, inviting my daughter to join that day’s workout. I was struck by his great rapport with the kids while also encouraging them to do the exercises with the proper technique. I liked it so much that after watching a few classes I joined the dojo also, and have been happily having him encourage me to correct my techniques ever since :-) Mehran is an extremely skilled martial artist. His many years of experience and willingness to work with people of all levels make him a great asset to those of us fortunate enough to be able to work with him. I highly recommend to everyone interested in learning karate to visit Mehran’s Okinawa Karate Academy, and join us for a workout.

Sensei Sanjit Mandal is well schooled in traditional Goju Ryu Karate-do, and is also involved in sport karate-do through the U.S. Olympic Committee's National Governing Body (USA Karate). If you wish to train in traditional karate-do, sport karate-do, or both you will find that his instruction is right for you or your children.

I teach basic self-defense as well as basic fundamentals of karate and a bit of sparring techniques.

Having lived in Japan for 8 years does not make me a better instructor, in and of itself. Nor does having been a tournament champion. 35+ years doing Karate and several years doing other martial arts helps my level of understanding. Having a deeper technical knowledge than almost anyone else outside of Japan helps as well. But what really sets me apart is the passion that I have, not only for Karate-do as a way of life, but for teaching it in a way that helps students progress as quickly as they are capable of.

World-Wide Jiu-jitsu & Karate-Do with over three decades of teaching experience focuses-on and develops Mindfulness, Self-Awareness, and Self-Discipline. As a result, the training and attitude of the individual becomes stronger in mind, body, and spirit. This martial system is built to cultivate inner strength through practical and effective self-defense techniques.

Karate is for everyone! We are a family-oriented martial arts studio that has served the Oakley and Delta community for over 9 years. We offer classes for students as young as three years old, with group classes based on age and skill level. As we focus lessons on positive life skills as well as physical skills, our students are often recognized at school and home as leaders. Call for more information about how we might be able to serve you.

Our dojo teaches authentic Renbukai karate. We are not a commercial dojo. Our dojo is limited to 20 kids and 20 adults. We are a traditional yet family-oriented dojo. We do not have long-term contracts and only charge $75/month for adults and $70/month for kids. Sensei Mario is the main instructor, and sensei JB teaches the kids' Thursday class. The adult classes are 1 1/2 hours, and the kids classes are 1 hour. We instruct not only the physical part of karate but the mental, philosophy, anatomy, and the history of an art that has been around for hundreds of years.

I'm hoping to continue to learn and grow along with my students. I recognize that we're all students, some of us have just been training for a little longer. You can learn something from everyone, and I hope to learn from you while teaching you something new.
