I was happy with the overall work except that I wasn't made aware that I still would have to remove most of the rat droppings from the garage. I found them to be highly professional and pleasant to work with.

I noticed some bees swarming above an underground irrigation valve box. I sprayed, but the bees stuck around. I chose Enviro-Tech Pest Control Services to get rid of the bees; imagine my surprise when he discovered an active underground hive full of honey! The service consisted of two visits and a 30-day warranty. He was courteous and kept me informed. His monthly/quarterly pest services seem quite reasonable. I certainly will be contacting him in the future for services. Felicia

I am so happy we called Shaun from Bee Patrol out to our home. He resolved our bee removal/relocation same day and responded within minutes. We had someone lined up tomorrow, but cancelled when we found out they were planning to exterminate. Live bee removal is a sight to see. Also, my husband is military so we love to support those who have served in the armed forces. Thank you for your help and your service! Highly recommend this company.

I sent a request for service and they came the same day! He spent almost 2 hours treating my spider infested yard, clearing off the webs and egg balls. He even flipped over the furniture to spray and remove on the bottom. I can actually go out now without fear of getting webs stuck all over me or spider bites. I couldn't be happier!

He came to check on the work and give us quote same day. Our old dishwasher was leaking under the sink... My husband thinks he did a great job with removing moldy pieces of cabinets and replacing them with new wood.

Right on time. Educated me on bees, took time to walk the property. Discovered there is no bee problem currently, but went ahead with some preventative measures anyway. Highly recommend!

Guillermo Castro of Castro Termite & Pest Control came out within the next day after being contacted for a Re-finance Termite Inspection. He performed a thorough inspection of my home including a comprehensive survey of the attic during a very warm afternoon. I was very impressed with his knowledge of termite infestation and how to locate any damage. Fortunately my home did not have any evidence of termites. After the completion of the inspection I mentioned that I had a problem with rodents running around between my house and a neighbor's. He came out the next day on his day off to seal up any entry points to my home and lay traps. His excellent customer service, pleasant demeanor and dedication to his craft have earned my highest marks for a professional. I highly recommend him for any pest problem you may have!

Al the owner was very good. He listened to our concerns and did an excellent job. We were having an ant infestation, tried everything and finally threw up our hands in frustration. Al was able to fit us in his schedule last minute and within hours the ants were gone! He will also come back and retreat at no cost if ants come back. I would recommend to anyone.

If you have a rodent issue in your attic and/or need new insulation and if you don't want to waste your time and money, then I highly recommend you hire 911 Restoration Of San Diego ....look no further! 911 Restoration Of San Diego was the answer to our prayers! Prior to 911 Restoration Of San Diego, we unfortunately hired some "so-called pest control" companies who turned out to be incompetent, know-it-all's, unprofessional, and way in over their heads...those other companies could not solve the "summer of the rats nightmare"!! After meeting Ron who was incredible from 911 Restoration Of San Diego, we knew this was the organization that would finally solve all our rodent issues. The amazingly successful results happened so quickly! 911 Restoration Of San Diego sent us Ron's professional crew to our house, removed our 20 year old filthy insulation, did a clean sweep of the attic and vacuumed, sealed all access points with impenetrable real steel rodent proof wire mesh, eradicated all the rats including the alpha, sanitized the entire attic, and installed top of the line best quality code compliant insulation. Ron's crew from 911 Restoration Of San Diego were respectful, compassionate throughout the process, and professional. Thanks to 911 Restoration Of San Diego, my family now has regained peace, happiness, and once again sleeps normally. 911 Restoration Of San Diego delivered on their promise. They are an ethical company that has your best interests in mind. My only regret is that we should have hired them sooner from the very beginning of our summer rodent problem. We are deeply grateful to 911 Restoration Of San Diego for being there to help during our difficult time of need. The bonus is the 911 Restoration Of San Diego warranty which continues to give us peace of mind. Aetel S.

We were very happy with the service provided by Kirby from Pestmaster Services - we only had a small wasp nest to remove, and after looking at it he charged even less than this original online quote. As a bonus, he removed some snails and other misc. debris from the building while he was here. Quick, prompt response, integrity and going above and beyond - what more can you ask for?? Thank you Kirby!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
      • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
    • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
      • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
    • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
      • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

    • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
      • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
    • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to get a pest inspection?

In general there is no cost for a pest inspection. Exterminators typically provide a free property or building inspection and then provide you with a written estimate outlining the necessary treatment and cost. The home visit allows the exterminator to assess the problem and let you know what your pest control cost will be if you contract with their services. You may need a termite inspection for real estate purposes. This will be a verified inspection showing that the house in question is termite-free (often done before a sale). The inspection may cost a flat rate, such as $125-$150, depending on house size.

It’s hard to predict pest control costs sight unseen due to the variety of factors that go into pest treatment. For example, a bedbug problem for one customer may be confined to one room and be easy to access and treat in one visit if the room is clear of clutter and the bedbugs have been caught early. In another home, a bedbug problem may also be confined to one room, but there’s a great deal of clutter, providing more hiding places for the bugs and requiring more spray and labor for the exterminator, as well as many pieces of large furniture in the room that need to sprayed. Depending on the maturity of the infestation, a bedbug problem may require multiple visits to entirely eliminate. This is why many companies provide a free inspection to determine pest control costs and provide you the most accurate quote possible.
