When I tell you that it was 110 degrees outside, and John worked upstairs, non-stop without complaining!... He not only assembled my TV cabinet, but he also put together the TV, and programmed it. Never complained, never stopped working, and was totally pleasant, and responsive. We need to clone him! I loved the finished product, and I will use John continually.

Bogdan hung curtain rods and curtains in 4 bedrooms, and also did small extra jobs involving woodwork. He worked very neatly, cleaned up everything, was very polite, did a great job, and made me a very happy customer. Will surely hire him again if ever I have another job!

I would highly recommend Todd for wood furniture refinishing. I had a table that I wanted a curio cabinet to match, even though they were different woods. He explained my options given the cabinet wood type and table finish, disassembled the cabinet, brought over two test colors to confirm my color preference, completed the cabinet on time and reassembled it in my home. It came out even more beautifully than expected -- thanks for your expertise!

G.O.R Construction did a fabulous job in my kitchen. I hired Gerardo to install 3" x 6" subway tiles from the countertop to the ceiling. It looks spectacular!!! He and his associate Geronimo also installed some floating shelves and pendant lights. Our kitchen has been transformed. We have received many compliments from friends and family. Gerardo and Geronimo are hard workers who take pride in what they do. Geronimo installed most of the tile with Gerardo making cuts. Geronimo is a true craftsman when working with tile. All tiles and grout lines line up perfectly. G.O.R Construction did a flawless job. I would highly recommend their services and plan on using them again.

He measured & hung 5 wall cabinets in laundry room, created a dryer vent through an outside wall, hooking it up to dryer, built a step from Gazebo floor to ground. All work was done very well. Used him before, for all kinds of jobs, in fixing up a house for sale. I find him a versatile & talented man.

Kurt suggested instead of just doing Cabinet refinishing in the kitchen to do the cabinets throughout the entire home since they were identical throughout and all could use the upgraded look.

Josh did an amazing job on a custom cabinet and shelves for our dining room! We had those annoying cut outs in our wall that builders used in the early 2000s. He came out quickly to give us a quote, followed through with everything he said he would, and got our project done in time for a get together we were having at our house. We just underwent a remodel and I'd have to say out of all of the professionals we worked with Josh was the most reliable and dependable. We are so happy with our finished product that we plan to have him build us a hall tree next! I absolutely recommend him to anyone looking to work with a professional that respects your time and is a true artist and craftsman!! The before and after...

Mark is absolutely amazing! I wish all contractors could be like him. He is professional, friendly, very courteous, and his work is beautiful. I hired him to make custom cabinets for the bathrooms and he walked me through each step to customize my design. When he was unable to find a matching color for the countertop, he contacted a company he works with so I could look through pieces of granite and find a match. He installed the cabinets this weekend and the workmanship is beautiful. Solid wood, matching stain, and soft closing drawers. The price is on point as well. I would venture to guess that something of this size would be about the same price at Ikea, or some other cheap furniture place that uses particle board and laminate. I will be using Mark for all my custom woodwork needs - and there will be plenty.

These guys are great to work with! Brandon took pride in his trade, really listened to what we wanted, and made sure we were happy with the results. What started as a backsplash removal job turned into removal, replacement, and even some custom cabinet work that we requested. This was all because of Brandon's work ethic, customer service, and trade skill. If you're looking for someone to do some remodel and repair work around your home, you can't go wrong by calling Brandon.

Greg and Matt did a great job putting new doors on old 1959 cabinets that had solid boxes. They also painted them. The painting process they use makes the cabinets look brand new and smooth as silk. These cabinets had been painted at least four times. They sanded them to original wood and put several different steps in to get the finish. They look gorgeous. They installed all the new doors and the knobs I got as well. They are very responsive in getting back to you. Matthew went out of his way to help us with a couple other things. He is very knowledgeable about things. We really liked all of the crew.

Tom Mann was very professional from the beginning. He showed up on time for doing the job bid and was very thorough and complete in the bidding process. No surprises. He and his crew were very polite and punctual. The work they did was excellent and I am happy every day with the quality. They always explained what was happening and did a great job containing the paint fumes & dust so the rest of the house was odor and dust free. I had my old oak stair banister, hall cabinets and bath vanity done in white. Everything looks new and beautiful! I was able to save money with NHance instead of replacing the cabinet or banister and end up with a job that looks brand new and has a long lasting finish. I will definitely use them again on future projects.

Beautiful work, on time, great pricing. This guy knows his stuff! He built a corner of cabinetry to match our vintage kitchen, and I will go back to him for more when we are ready to continue re-arranging our cabinetry. He keeps up with the new trends, but knows the old-school craft, too.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      Do you tip cabinet installers?

In general, home service providers such as electricians, plumbers and contractors are professionals who don’t expect tips. They expect to do a job for you for the specific price they quoted. Of course, they may appreciate a tip for a job particularly well done or for which they’ve gone beyond what’s normally expected, such as completing the project early or under budget. Even better than a tip, it’s always appropriate to leave a positive review online after a good experience.

      How much is custom cabinetry?

Custom cabinets can be built for any room, including bedroom closets and built-in armoires. Measured carefully and built precisely, custom cabinetry can increase storage and beautify any room. The national average for building custom cabinets ranges from $500 to $1,200 per linear foot. The cost is highly variable because there are so many styles, colors, glazes and other options. In general, the linear footage of the cabinets, the materials used to build them, and the cost of the labor will determine the cost. Solid wood costs more than plywood and wood veneer, and costs vary among different types of wood; maple and cherry cabinets are more expensive than pine. Glass-front cabinets can cost more, as can decorative hinges, handles and door pulls, which can cost $2-$45 each; choose carefully to stay within your budget and pull off the exact look you’re going for. Some carpenters also charge for installation, on average $100 per cabinet box. Additional molding and trim, such as crown molding at the ceiling, cost an average of $70 per 8-foot section, and adding finished ends to exposed cabinets averages $100-$200.

How much does it cost to have kitchen cabinets installed?

In any kitchen, the cabinets are the main focus, so you want to make sure new or replacement cabinets are installed correctly. A professional carpenter can properly, securely mount new cabinets to the wall; the national average cost for this service is $7,725, although the cost varies widely depending on the type of cabinets, their material and their size, and the accessories you add. A typical fee is $70 per linear foot to remove existing cabinets and assemble and install new ones; the cost is less if you do the demolition and removal yourself. Stock cabinets are the least expensive to have installed, ranging from $75 to $400 each; semi-custom cabinets range from $150 to $900 each; and custom cabinets cost from $500 to $1,400 each. Wood cabinets are more expensive than those made from plywood or medium-density fiberboard (MDF) and finished with a laminate. Wood cabinets range in cost from $80 to $160 per linear foot. Laminate-finished cabinets cost $35 to $75 per linear foot, on average.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
