Desiree seemed genuinely interested in caring for my cat every day. She went above and beyond expectations of daily grooming, feeding, and cleaning the litter box by playing with him and sending videos. Not only is she professional, but she's friendly and trustworthy. I will definitely call on her to help me out with cat-sitting again.

We met Tiffany through our local Veterinary Hospital and she came highly recommend from our attending Vet for pet sitting. We have a senior cat with lots of needs who is best left in her own setting when we leave. Tiffany is extremely diligent and trustworthy in giving the best care including medications and multiple visits daily for food and meds. Her text messages keep us informed and relieved our kitty is in the best of care while we are away. She goes above and beyond great service taking her responsibility very seriously and is always professional. Her love of animals shows in her work.

Jeannette is AMAZING!!! She gave THE BEST care to all of our animals while we were on vacation and she went above and beyond to make sure that not only were our animals loved and cared for but that our house was safe and secure. She took out the trash, did a few dishes and even returned a Netflix movie we had left on the counter!!! I would HIGHLY recommend Jeannette for pet sitting and look forward to planning more vacations so we can use her again!

Kelly arrived right on time. She observed the dog and sat next to the dog. Her observations were right-on. Her suggestions seemed probable to "conquer" my dog's problem. We arranged an hour's workout for next week. I feel confident in her. LAAG

We have been using Karen's services for quite awhile, from potty / dinner breaks to pet medications to house sitting. Our two dogs and two older cats are always well cared for and the house is tidy upon our return. We just booked Karen for a week this summer and I am always comfortable being away with her caring for our family. Karen is also very flexible in short notice arrangements and we have had no problems with her sservice. We have referred Karen to friends in the area as it's difficult finding someone of her caliber of care.

I am an owner of an extremely protective 160 pound St. Bernard. She has extreme issues with social interactions with people if they are not family. I was so fortunate to find Coune's Canines. Stacy was extremely brave on that first visit. My dog lunges at her many times and barked non stop. She came back! And we tried her entering the house with my dog in her cage. This went on for many weeks but finally a breakthrough my dog allowed her to pet her through the cage. Now Stacy is easily her good friend! She can walk her around the property play inside with her and when I tell my dog she is coming to visit she is very excited. I never thought I would find anyone that would work with my temperamental girl. But I would highly recommend Coyne's Canines. They care about your pet and treat them like their own.

Are you going on a vacation but can't travel with your loving pet? I can pet sit for you! I love animals. I also walk dogs.

I care for your house and pets in your home 24/7. I have been sitting for over 10 years. I am a retired professional man. I can handle any dog or cat with loving care.

I love to watch pets. I'm obsessed with animals and love to take care of them. I currently pet sit my sister's and aunts' animals.

I am a excellent animal trainer. I guess you can call me an animal whisperer. I do administer meds both orally and internally. I follow directions if given and if needed. I do clean up after the dogs myself and the house, if necessary. I would love to work with you and your animal.

Well, I'm doing this because I just love animals, and I have two of my own. You can trust me with your dogs and cats.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

  • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
  • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
    • 45-minute visit: $28.
    • 60-minute visit: $32.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
  • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
    • 12 hours: $100.
    • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
