I am a novice at conga drums but in 4 weeks I’ve learned so much from Nolan. He is a teacher at heart and that means patience, demonstration, and helpful critique. I do practice at least 30 minutes a day and I get reinforcement on technique from him each lesson. The lessons are fun and I’m learning quickly. I am continuing on from the first 4 sessions I signed up for. He is reasonably priced and on time. Highly recommend.Oct 10, 2018Verified
Drum Lessons (for children or teenagers)
Nolan is a consummate professional, both with his drumming skills and his demeanor. He is able to be firm enough with my 10 year old son (who thinks life revolves around video games), yet never overbearing. This is perfect for a kid with a short attention span! I appreciate the way he challenges my son and encourages him at the same time. I have been a life long musicians playing guitar and singing for over 25 years, and with all the drummers I know, if I was going to take drum lessons I would want to take them from Nolan!Feb 24, 2017Verified
Drum Lessons (for adults)
I have met with Nolan for our first drum lesson. So far so good. I thought I was a little further along than a straight beginner , but he started with the basics. I.e. Finger grips, wrist strokes , and foot pedal hits. Which I obviously had overlooked and have not been doing correctly. That's why I chose to take lessons and am glad I chose Nolan who is very patient and a great teacher. Look forward to progressing with my drum skills with Nolans help along the way 😀Jan 21, 2017Verified
Nolan has training and experience in several areas of music, but I'm glad that he has a passion for teaching. He understands that people take lessons for different reasons and have individual ambitions. I have found that Nolans priority is to identify these goals; to see that his students progress and have fun while they are learning. He gives my daughter constant, constructive feedback during her drum lessons, and works to teach and challenge her. He is always patient and positive, and wants to know that he is helping her achieve her goals. Nolan is professional and reliable, and my daughter is fortunate to be one of his students!Jan 21, 2016

- What is your typical process for working with a new customer? Each private lesson student is different, and I approach each new student that way. Everyone has different ideas of what they want to learn. I start by learning about individual goals, using this information to create an individual lesson plan in which the student learns important techniques and ear training, all while making the lessons fun and relevant to their personal goals.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?I started playing music in middle school, and continued throughout high school, college, and beyond. I worked and practiced hard to learning everything I could about music, including taking lessons from many top musicians in Los Angeles. I graduated from California State University, Long Beach with my degree in Percussion Performance from the Bob Cole Conservatory of Music. The program there was comprehensive, exposing me to music and instruments from around the world which I know get to share with my students.
