Ive seen two sides to Lanas teaching, and theyre both wonderful.
As her tuner, Ive seen her interact with her students. She uses many creative methods (including visual aids and recording) to convey her lessons, depending on what level the students are. And her students have told me that they improve more quickly with her than with their other teachers.
She makes the time fun to keep people interested (no rulers on knuckles), but she also wants them to learn as much as they can. I like that she is flexible enough to teach someone just to play around by ear if thats all they want to do, but that she can also discuss the complex issues of concert pieces from the masters. After all, she was trained at the Russian Kazan Conservatory.
From the personal side, she was easy to work with concerning my own lessons. When Id miss a note, shed gently ask if maybe that note should have been played a different way. When I couldnt take lessons every week, she encouraged me to just come as much as I could.
I recommend Lana to all my customers who ask about teachers in the area, and Id recommend her to you too.

Lana is a fantastic teacher. I came to her as a lapsed, advanced pianist and she has motivated me immeasurably. Her knowledge of technique, theory, and general musical appreciation is unsurpassed in my experience--and she communicates that knowledge well. However, not everyone is advanced. I have seen her teach both beginning and intermediate students. I have never seen a teacher, either music or school, motivate students as well as she does. Would I recommend her? Don't make me laugh! She is the best.

Lana Smith is a fantastic piano teacher. She is aware and adaptable to different learning styles, is creative, and also refers to traditional teaching and classic pieces. Her instruction is timeless, ageless, and can take you as far as you are willing to go.

Lana is incredible. She's patient, loving, and kind to her students, and because of these rare qualities, her students learn extremely well. I highly recommend hiring Lana for all of your musical needs.

Lana is so patient with her students,is a highly skilled piano teacher,with a passion for teaching others to play piano.Lana loves what she does,and it shows in her enthusiasm for music.Lana's love of music is contagious,and you or your child will be very lucky to have her as a teacher.
