Absolutely the highlight of our picnic! First, Rick was easy to work with (mostly via email, which make a volunteer's job so much easier), flexible with our changing needs and affordable for a community event. At the event, Moose was professional and took a huge amount of pressure off me, as the lead organizer! I will use Party Pro DJs over and over again!

Karen is amazing! I feel like this review doesn't do her justice. I showed her pictures of arrangements I liked and she went above and beyond to bring my vision to life. Even finding peonies (my favorite flower) out of season for my bouquet. I wanted to avoid typical wedding flowers and she did just that. Her flowers were vibrant, fresh, organic and completely beautiful. All of our guest commented on how beautiful the flowers were. We also hired her as a wedding planner and day of planner. Having a very anxious mother she took all of the stress of my husband and I and we were able to completely relax and enjoy our day. I would absolutely recommend her for any event. She will work within your budget and stick to it!

Jeff was very pleasant, efficient and just really easy to work with. I always enjoy other vendors that are committed to the success of the event and working together as a team! As a wedding planner I work with many vendors and I would be delighted to work with Jeff again soon!

From a service perspective, Alex was incredibly involved and proactive throughout the entire experience. From an output standpoint, her work clearly speaks for itself but we were incredibly happy and amazed with how well she creatively captured the event. Would highly recommend.

Tom We can't thank you enough for recording our wedding. We appreciate the time you took prior to our nontraditional event to understand our needs and guide us through the process. You told us exactly what we needed to prepare and what we needed to have for you. Your setup was unintrusive and we appreciate you partnering with the other vendors and guests to get exactly what we needed. This was a quick turn around in a unique setting. Thank you again Meredith & Sarah

We really enjoyed working with Jeff and Tage! We appreciated that Jeff came to the rehearsal to see SkyView at Fall River Village in Estes Park so that he and Tage would be prepared to take some awesome videos and use their drone before, during and after the ceremony the next day. Jeff was in contact with us regularly before the wedding day and he and Tage were very professional and worked well together and separately. Some videos were even taken in Rocky Mountain National Park! I highly recommend Jeff and his team if you're looking for a staff of thoughtful, creative and professional videographers! The videos captured so many special moments throughout the day and the highlight video had us in tears!

We are so happy that we decided to work with SWdigital. Scott made the process so easy, giving advice and pointers where needed. He really understood what we were looking for in our video, taking the long list of ideas we had and turning it into a beautiful piece of work. He was professional when filming and helped to put the people we interviewed in our video at ease. He also went above and beyond to complete our project way ahead of schedule, with out skimping on the quality of the video. I highly recommend using SWdigital for anyone wanting to create a video for your business. Whether you are new to the game, like I was, or have been working with videographers for years, Scott is an excellent choice, who will deliver the high quality finished product you are looking for.

Eric does beautiful work! He filmed our wedding in October, and the videos could not have turned out more perfect. He takes the time to really get to know you and your vision beforehand to ensure the video turns into exactly what you want. I would highly recommend him for anyone who is looking for a quality videographer to capture their special moments! Plus, he's reasonably priced! I am so lucky to have found him and to have this amazing video that I can treasure forever. Thanks, Eric!

DJ Robin did an absolutely excellent job all around. We hired him as our wedding DJ a week before our wedding. From rehearsal to the last song on our day he showed that he cared and was giving 100%. He had the best attitude, was on time/early, and willing to help to get things done how we wanted. He would be a great hire for any event!

I was back and forth about picking a photographer and videographer for so long. Finally, in our long search a friend recommended Ivywild to us. Hands down these guys are incredible and the best decision we could’ve made. We felt so comfortable with them (so helarious, kind and professional!). The pictures are world class and the experience was one we will cherish. I can’t wait to use them for capturing future special moments in our chapters to come. Thanks guys!!!

Chuck came by and filmed our location for a YouTube ad that we are going to put out. The film came out really well, and he was willing to re-do some of the shots for me. Chuck is a great videographer!

We had an absolutely wonderful experience working with Have and To Hold Photography. From the very start, Neil was meticulous in his attention to detail, making sure that he had all of the various elements of our event. We received the digital images just a few days after the event concluded, which made our attendees very happy as well. We were so happy with the service, we hired the company to capture the memories for another event as well. Highly recommended!!

My husband and I hired David to be our wedding videographer prior to our nuptials in June 2014. While my husband thought it was another expense that wasn't necessary, in the end, he was proven wrong! David's professionalism was great and he communicated with us throughout the time leading up to our wedding. He assured me that everything would go according to plan and he did not let us down. David was on time to our wedding ceremony and did a fantastic job recording our vows as well as our cocktail hour and reception at another site. The DVD that he sent us in the mail about two weeks after our wedding was amazing! He delivered an extended version of our wedding ceremony on one DVD and a combination of our ceremony and "best of" scenes from our reception on another DVD. He was great and I would definitely recommend David to anyone who wants a videographer but not the over-the-top pricing that most others charge.

What a find! The SCI Recovery Project's fundraising event would not have been successful with out Mitchell! Mitchell was brought on to create two videos that were featured at our 2013 fundraising event. Mitchell was such a breeze to work with. His professionalism, skills, and dedication to our testimonial video, and staff confessional video made our fundraising event a huge success! I was overwhelmingly impressed by his ability to immerse himself in the project, and spend extra time needed to make our film one that our donor base is sure to remember. Our client was thrilled by the quality representation of her and her life, and I loved how approachable he was with suggestions and ideas. Thank you Mitchell!!! We hope we'll be working with you for years to come!!!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
