Introduction: When I treat chronic injuries, I go a little deeper than most acupuncturists. I analyze posture and movement patterns and look for structural and tissue changes in the body to reveal the real source of certain types of pain. I identify and treat internal as well as external imbalances. I have a CSCS and am qualified to give exercise advice to prevent further injury or pain. Exercises not only produce strength but helps foster correct movement, which is based not just on muscles, but how the nervous system interacts WITH the muscles. Any particular movement is a symphony of neuromuscular activity, and if something is "off", compensatory injuries can occur. The combination of methods I use reduces pain and increases performance from an anatomical and functional perspective as well as a traditional Chinese Medicine approach. I believe in combining the best of what Western and Eastern medicine have to offer, and I believe that this approach produces long-term results that address the root cause of pain or dysfunction, while remaining minimally invasive. In addition to working with chronic and acute injuries and pain, I also specialize in fatigue, headaches, insomnia, anxiety/depression, and menopausal symptoms. I have also helped patients prepare for and recover from surgery and major physical traumas. I strive to create a relaxing, fun, and educational environment for my patients and really take the time to tailor my treatments to each patient.

I can't say enough good things about my experiences with Julie. First I would like to specify that treatment with her is not just acupuncture: you do acupressure, active release, neuro-muscular, and stretching. For me it's also a bit of a mental therapy/release session, as while we do treatment she asks about my daily life, how my emotional health is, my energy levels and general thoughts about the week. She always has insightful comments and tailors treatment based off this AND my physical symptoms. I work as a career drummer and educator, so my job requires a high amount of physical output. With this type of work, I require a very specialized treatment and need to have someone who has an in-depth knowledge of anatomy. I went to Julie as a means to increase my bodies general health, and ability to revive after long sessions, as well as to increase my focus and strengthen my mental drive. It has done all of the above in ways no other treatment has. I find my hands play more fluidly, my muscles recover faster, my energy level has increased, and my creative output has blossomed, which directed contributed to an overall performance boost. This is all attributed to Julie's vastly applied knowledge, executed with grace. With my weekly session, I know, from first hand experience, that the cumulative effect of my weekly session with her will continue to improve my quality of life. I would recommend Julie's service to anyone, looking to increase their performance, energy, happiness and love for life! "

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

Yes, I treat a lot of back pain. I also have treated patients with foot and ankle pain, plantar fasciitis, hip pain, shoulder conditions, and headaches. I have helped patients recover from accidents and surgery. I have also worked with patients with COPD, anxiety, insomnia, jaw pain and TMJ dysfunction, IBS, and menopausal symptoms. Acupuncture can in fact treat many conditions, not just pain.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure that your acupuncturist is a good fit for you. If he or she is treating sports injuries or back pain, make sure that they have taken the time to learn about biomechanics and anatomy and continue to learn via attending seminars and workshops.
