Rob was great. He was able to fit us in on a Sunday and was on-time and very personable. He quickly diagnosed the problem and provided us with a path towards getting it resolved. He also went above and beyond by showing me some easy, but overlooked washer and dryer maintenance that I could do on my own. I will definitely call Rob first the next time I have an appliance repair.

The workers are polite and come promptly and work very hard. I hired them to do one job at first... to demolish a 14 X 18 foot wall of bricks/entertainment center in a new home that I purchased. My husband and I were very pleased and then re-hired the crew to do a dozen more things to renovate and update this home. Among the tasks they removed tile, removed a 3-way facing gas fireplace that was awkwardly placed, remove brick facing off some columns, move a few floor outlets, take out dated shower sliding doors and move chandeliers and some utility cabinets (so I'd have more space for my large washer/dryer). And more! This is an excellent company that I will continue to use for smaller projects. No one on the team even flinched when I changed my mind about things, they just go with the flow... and do what I ask like true professionals. Pricing on my original project was the best on thumbtack, and continues to be very fair.

I would highly recommend AAG Appliance Repair! Adam came out to our house to repair our refrigerator and he came out within 24 hours and fixed our issue right away. He doesn't try to upsell and offered us very sound advice; we felt he was very fair and competitive with what he charged us. We definitely appreciate that when so many others try to sell you things you don't need. Adam is extremely professional and we will always use his services for any appliance repair we have in the future. Thanks again!

Part of the heating component went out in my dryer, so I called Blue Frog and Nick was able to come out right away and fix it for me. He brought the part he thought it might be with him so that way I wouldn't have to wait or so he wouldn't have to come back. Nick is very nice, friendly and respectful. I really appreciated his time and hardwork!

Randy was awesome! Our 31 year old Maytag dryer had stopped tumbling and we weren't sure if it was worth repairing. Randy said he wouldn't charge us to come look at it. 15 minutes after getting here (on time or maybe a little early) he showed us the broken belt. He said our old dryer was still good and replacing the belt was the best way to go. He left to get a replacement belt and came right back. Fixed it and vacuumed the insides of the dryer. Here and gone (with the trip to get the belt) in about 2 hours. $100 later and we are extremely happy! Great guy - definitely recommend his services, he's conservative, honest, fast, friendly - and good! Really seemed to know what he was doing.

Tim did a nearly full remodel on my condo, updating it from the 1970's to a modern look and feel. His work included demolition, restructuring/reframing areas, dry wall, countertops, installation of a washer/dryer (plumbing and venting of it), updating of all plumbing fixtures in bathrooms and kitchen, and a ton of electrical work as well. He is a great carpenter and also very well-rounded as a maintenance guy, knowing how to do plumbing and electric repairs. Although I had to manage the project (he is not a general contractor) and our timeline got a bit behind, Tim got the work done with good results. The place looks beautiful and truly feels like a modern condo. We love it. My only criticism is the project would have gone more smoothly with better communication regarding timeline, expense and expectations. The project was massive and got a bit out of hand. I would have liked a more detailed, discussed and methodical approach to such a project. But I can't complain too much - it gone done and at a fair price. I would recommend to anyone seeking one-off repairs or needing a skilled carpenter for remodeling projects. Tim's great at what he does, very knowledgeable about all things constructioney, and a very nice guy. Thanks Tim!!

I had two items that needed repair, my freezer wasn't making ice and my washing machine was out of balance. Paul was on time and took care of both items in a few hours, which included having to go pick up a part. I would gladly recommend him to anyone else in need of appliance repairs.

A few problems with appointment timing at first but, then they did a great job. We felt like the price was fair and they got the job done--our dryer heating element went out. We would call them (Gerry and Mason) again.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
