Anthony from Wilbur and Sons did such a great job. He is definitely dedicated to his work and it shows. We hired him to do a bunch of things for us including some major landscaping work and he exceeded our expectations on all. Anthony was a pleasure to work with. I would recommend him for any landscaping or lawn care work.

Hayden with Down to Earth Landscaping was wonderful to work with. He and his crew did an exceptional job! I am so pleased! He listened to and answered all my questions/concerns/requests. The job entailed flagstone, crusher fines, edging, polymeric sand, sod, and garden areas in the front of my house. I have had many many compliments from people in the neighborhood and those just walking by :) I'll add photos later when I get plants in the gardens.

Actually dealing with Jones lawn care long distance. Needed someone to cut grass in Longmont, Colorado. I've arranged everything over the phone. Friends have driven by and said the lawn looks great. It's nice to know I've found an honest person. I highly recommend this company. Can't reply to punctuality because I told Mr. Jones to just stop by once a week, any time, to cut grass.

I needed my lawn aerated and he quoted me a very reasonable price. He was able to get the job done within a couple days of my request, which was nice. He showed up on time and was very quick and professional. I was very satisfied with the work. He even fertilized my lawn. I would definitely recommend him for your lawn care needs. I will be using him again for sure.

Steve has been terrific to work with. As an out-of-town property owner, it's hard to find someone reliable to take care of maintenance issues. Steve has been highly responsive, great communication, responsible, and does good work. Highly recommended!

Did a great job at a reasonable price got the job done when he said it would be done unlike two other companies that either didn't show up at all or showed up two days later and couldn't do the job since I decided to leave my dogs outside after two days. I would highly recommend Mow-Z-Along Lawn Care.

Fabian replaced several old, overgrown bushes and a large plant bed in my front yard. He also repaired a collapsed window well for me, which was a tricky project. It all looks great! Fabian and his partner worked very hard, and completed all the work quickly for a reasonable price. I highly recommend him and will hire him again.

We hired Jim to do a very big partial basement finish in Johnstown, CO of almost 1,000 SF. It included a recording studio, exercise room, hallway, half bath, and large entertainment room. Jim and crew member Glen did all work except electrical which Jim subcontracted out. Jim took care of pulling the construction permit and inspections. The job was started in Nov 2014 and finished the first week in Feb 2015 even with the off-time I requested during Thanksgiving and two weeks around Christmas. These guys were always on-time, every day, and diligent in adhering to their own elevated work ethic. It's something very refreshing to see. I've too often experienced the polar opposite when dealing with construction guys. Jim sticks to his words and promises. I never had to worry that he wouldn't. I never thought this fairly big project would actually have an element of fun to it, but Jim and Glen have the attitude that often made it that way. I think Jim's work speaks for itself. He takes care to do things right, and is skilled in virtually all aspects of home construction. There is no doubt I will be asking Jim back for future projects as they come up. Trust is a mighty thing, and I have plenty of it in Jim.

Jared & his assistant had a big job to do. Our yard & the rest of the property had gotten way out of control - lots of weeds & tons of trimming to do. The place looks great again, thanks to the Lawn Police. Jared kept in good contact, showed up on time, and was very professional, too. Definitely hire the Lawn Police!

This guy works his ass off. He makes it work. I mean if he needs so much per hour instead of billing me more he worked harder and faster so that the agreed upon amount would equal out to that amount per hour he definitely isn't afraid to get his hands dirty

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to have landscaping done?

Professional landscaping can help reinvent your outdoor space, boost your curb appeal and get a major return on investment with. Landscaping can encompass anything from adding new plants, trees and shrubs, to leveling the ground and laying sod for a lawn, to building in hardscaping such as sidewalks, water features or retaining walls. The national average landscaping price is $10,160. Landscaping prices can be far lower (with hourly rates ranging from $50 to $150) if you’re only seeking professional help with softscaping or seeking consultation on landscape design. Softscaping means adding or changing horticultural elements, such as planting a garden or adding a hedge. Hardscaping is where costs can really start to rise. Hardscaping requires labor and heavy equipment to excavate the earth; you may need to pour concrete, or you may need a pro who can transport and place gravel and other inorganic elements. Your total landscaping cost will vary based on the amount of work you want done, how much labor is required, and the cost of the materials you are using. A good rule of thumb for a major landscaping project, according to the American Society of Landscape Architects, is to budget 5 percent to 10 percent of the value of your home.

How much does it cost to landscape your front yard?

Prices for landscaping your front yard can range from a few hundred dollars to tens of thousands of dollars, depending on the scale of your front yard project. Your landscaping price will reflect how much change you implement, how much labor is required, and the cost of materials.

Landscaping is typically made up of softscaping and hardscaping. Softscaping refers to selecting trees, bushes, flowers and plants to achieve a desired aesthetic and to meet goals such as having a drought-tolerant yard. Hardscaping refers to moving earth, installing structures, and putting in decorative stonework, sidewalks or lighting. For softscaping, you may want to hire a landscape designer to consult on your plants and layout, and then do the digging and planting yourself or hire a gardner to handle the heavy lifting. A landscape designer’s hourly rate may range from $50 to $150 or more. If you want a turnkey approach, meaning someone who works with you to create the vision and then executes all the work, landscaping pricing will typically come down to a cost per square foot rather than an hourly rate. It’s a solid investment: Great landscaping can add up to 28 percent value to your home.
