We were in a unique situation in that we were moving across the country and needed a quick last minute sitter for our cat while we drove our furniture/stuff out to Denver. The services were great - lots of professionals and very informative. They sent updates on the first and last days to show our kitty was doing well and they even left a report card for our cat when we got home (he got an A+ by the way!) - a really unique business structure. I've used many cat sitters and this was by far the most organized system I've seen with great people. I highly recommend them and I will be using them again.

It was a pleasure to work with Moksha and let him care for our dogs. They took to him right away and were excited everytime he came over. Moksha was meticulous in fine tuning details before, during and after the care. I'll definitely be hiring Live Green Denver Pet Sitters again!

Laura has helped me get back in the saddle after 18 years. Her horses are fantastic, well rounded, safe, and offer a challenge for riders of all levels. Laura's riding lessons are approximately 1 hour, however she has allowed my lessons to go over the time schedules when needed. She is a good instructor for learning the basics and more. She takes the time to properly address safety for horse and rider as well as the details required to properly care for and own a horse. The care and time she puts into her horses is reflected by the amazing fitness level and happy attitude her animals have.

Paw N Claws began pet sitting for me in 2013. As a single professional, I needed someone to let my dogs out during the day. They were referred to me by my former pet sitter who retired. They are reliable, cost competitive and you can tell they just love animals. When my dog had medical issues, they gave me some pointers and referred me to my vet - whom I love. I highly recommend them.

Jo sat for our 14month Lab/Shepard mix for 16 days while we went overseas. Some allayed our fears and sent frequent updates and photos while we were away. Our dog really loved having Jo around, and he got lots of love back. When we returned Jo had cleaned our house beautifully! It was a job to come home to such a clean house and a contented puppy. We would totally recommend Jo as a pet sitter and a great house sitter, too!

If you want to truly relax on your vacation and not worry about your animals while you're away, hire these 3 people. They are highly organized and caring dog sitters. They treated our dog like he was part of their family and kept me at ease while I was away with updates and photos. The long: Our dog, Duke, has been asked to leave more than one boarding facility for being "difficult." He has separation anxiety, trouble with thunderstorms and loud noises and strangers. These sitters were the first to actually listen to me regarding his high-maintenance needs and instead of backing out, they completely embraced him for who he is: a lovable pup! They had me fill out a very thorough questionnaire before he stayed with them. It covered everything! They used that info and what I told her about his anxieties and came up with a plan to keep him happy, comfortable and feeling secure. While I was away they emailed me updates and photos, so that I could truly relax and enjoy my trip, knowing that my dog was in excellent care. I can't say enough great things about our experience with them. They truly opened up their hearts and home for our dog and made him part of the family while we were away.

Katie amazed me from day one with her knowledge and understanding of horses, patience with questions, and the effort she puts into fully interpreting and explaining horse behavior and effective riding/training techniques. I have learned more in 3 sessions here than I have in almost a year of work at a highly esteemed barn. I cannot give enough praise to Katie's care, compassion, and genuinely good attitude toward both her horses and her clients.

Cornerstone Farm

New To Thumbtack

    About

Cornerstone Farm is committed to offering top-notch English riding education in small, focused classes. Our goal is to assist people in maximizing their love for horses and riding by constantly enhancing their knowledge of horses and riding ability, conforming to the classic horsemanship principles. A proper position in the saddle produces an effective and strong rider, so we put equal importance on control and position. Our method to flatwork includes basic dressage training: horses are ridden forward, with suppleness, rhythm, and balance. This foundation permits us to jump under control and safely. At Cornerstone Farm, we specialize in bringing along green horses correctly and slowly. We're also available for problem solving or boosting the training of a competitive horse. In addition, we can provide exercise riding or maintenance for schooled horses, and can exhibit horses for owners at local competitions. For riders who do not own a horse, we have school horses available which are willing and sound. They vary from ponies to thoroughbreds, guaranteeing the right mount is on hand for riders of every ability and age. Students riding school horses join in saddling and grooming, and should plan to arrive 30 minutes prior to starting your lesson, and stay for 30 minutes after every lesson to properly care for your mount.

    About

I love dogs and helping people. These are my top two favorite things in a part-time hobby. Sign me up! I've never lived in a house without at least three dogs, sometimes as high as six or seven. So, there isn't much that I can't handle. Why I want to sit? I work for myself from home. I have loads of time on my hands, and I already take care of my dogs. They love it when we have company! Whether I come to your place or they come to mine, your dogs will get the best of care and attention. I may even do some training with them!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to hire a house sitter?

House-sitting can be a lifesaver when you’re leaving town for any length of time. Whether you work remotely, you’re taking a much-needed vacation, or you just want to road-trip for a few days, it’s wise to have a pro keep an eye on your house and pets while you’re gone. Your home is more likely to stay safe and you won’t have to wrangle the kitty into a kennel to travel with you. The national average pet-sitting price ranges between $20 and $30. Pet-sitting and house-sitting costs will vary based on where you live in the country and regional labor rates. Another factor in cost is how long you want the house-sitter to stay. Some people prefer to have the house-sitter stay the night at their house, perhaps to care for an elderly pet or simply to keep a watchful eye on the home at all times. Overnight stays will cost more, ranging anywhere from $50 to $100, depending on services provided. For day visits, house-sitting and pet-sitting prices will increase incrementally the longer the visit and the more service you want performed. For example, a quick 10-minute visit to feed and walk the pet and bring in the mail could be $12.50, a 25-minute visit could be $18, a 40-minute visit $25, and a 50-minute visit $32. How much should you pay for a pet sitter?

Pet sitting provides your precious pet with in-home care. A pet-sitter can make a brief visit during the day to provide snacks, playtime or affection, or stay at your house for one or more nights to tend to your pet. Prices for pet-sitting will vary based on length of the visit. Nationally, pet sitting prices range from $20 to $30, although prices run higher for your sitter to stay the night. Prices will also be affected by where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pet-sitting prices based on length of time and region:

    • 30-minute visit: $17 in a small Texas town.
    • 30-minute visit: $25 in Southern California.
      • 45-minute visit: $28.
      • 60-minute visit: $32.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $50 in Texas.
    • Overnight stay (10 hours): $85 in Southern California.
      • 12 hours: $100.
      • 24 hours: $200. This is a good option for a sick, elderly or brand-new pet that needs constant supervision.
