I had a great experience at Mindzai! I engaged Jason for a 4 session block, primarily for weight loss. I enjoyed our time together and I felt that Jason was very thorough. I could tell he was/is genuinely interested in helping me reach my goals, which is super awesome! The first session was fantastic. Jason had very comprehensive questions, which I appreciated. Initially, we spent a lot of time talking and then he put me under hypnosis. I was pretty excited and, as a first timer, very curious what it would be like. I awoke and felt great. I felt that the session was immediately helpful and transformative. I noticed right away that I was making different choices and they seemed to be happening automatically. I was really excited and, honestly, I could not wait for my second appointment. The second appointment was fantastic, as well, but for different reasons. We talked a lot that session and Jason had some very exciting insights that made a huge impact on me (that are still making a huge impact on me!). However, I couldn't 'get under' for the actual hypnosis part and that was a bummer for me. I felt that the first session was so impressive because he really got a chance to communicate with me while I was under hypnosis. Regardless, the second session was amazing and I walked away with a fresh perspective. The third appointment went great, as well. I know I was able to 'get under' for a portion of time and that made me happy. I don't exactly remember the specifics of that session, but I remember leaving happy lol. I was eagerly anticipating my fourth appointment, since I knew it was the last in the series I had purchased. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to 'get under' for any of the hypnosis part. Although Jason assured me that 'there is no wrong way to do hypnosis,' I was pretty disappointed. I was really looking forward to the hypnosis part so that was a bummer. All in all, I would highly recommend hypnotherapy, and more specifically, Mindzai Hypnotherapy. Jason is great and very easy to talk to. I feel that my sessions with him really helped me and I anticipate booking future appointments with him.

Testimonial for Meghan Meghan was my amazing hypnotherapist for a natal regression therapy. I wanted natal regression because I had questions about a possible connection with my birth trauma and my present day stress levels that I was struggling with. Although I didn't know too much about natal regression therapy I was willing to try it. Meghan is wise beyond her years and that was revealed in her explanation of the regression therapy and how hypnosis works. I had an good rapport with her so I was able to trust in the process. Meghan moved me through all the natal stages while I was in trance with such grace and skill. Once I was in the trance state I relived my soul entering my mother's uterus! This is something that I had never considered or thought about in my adult life. I was so amazed with how vividly I experienced being in the womb. I could feel my own emotions as well as my mother's emotions! I also had a powerful physical and emotional experience after birth as a newborn! All of the regression was so powerful and the experiences were so clear! I surprised myself when I came out of trance that I was able to feel a full and total forgiveness for my mother and father who were very young parents. I can't explain exactly how I let go of years of resentment but I do know that I have a more complete understanding of an old story, the story of my family of origin. I have been experiencing more acceptance of my family as well as acceptance of my self since that session. I have come to the conclusion that this profound forgiveness has helped with my past trauma as well as present day stressors and I am eternally grateful for that. Meghan is a gifted and skilled practitioner and I strongly recommend her to anyone seeking hypnotherapy and natal regression therapy. With eternal gratitude, Lane Bradfield, CNP Albuquerque, New Mexico

As a mason I damaged the meniscus in my knee by lifting and moving very heavy stones. The resultant pain was such that I could no longer jog, something that is very important to me. The sports physicians told me that an operation to cut the meniscus was my only option and would only last a while. When Dr Shmidt suggested I use self hypnosis and send blood to that area of my body for healing I was open to that. IT WORKED! I not only do not have pain in my knee but I am running again. I highly recommend Dr Shhmidt

Dear Mr. Kelly, I am writing to you to let you know the results of our only session. To refresh your memory, I came to you for help to cease drinking... mostly wine. I found you to be very professional in your manner and your dress. I appreciated the way you explained the process in detail. You made me feel relaxed and comfortable. The session was relaxing and very enjoyable. And after just one session... no more berries & twigs! I have not had one drink since and zero cravings. It's wonderful to be free! Many many thanks!

We are the only hypnotherapy provider in the Denver that is utilizing a proprietary interactive process that takes care of the problem, not just the symptom. Most other hypnotists only use direct suggestion hypnosis, which just focuses on the behavior, not the emotional component behind it.

Retrain your brain for success. Through hypnosis, hypnotherapy and EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique), I help people access the power of the subconscious mind to resolve all sorts of issues, such as smoking cessation, weight issues, cravings, habit elimination, preparing for surgery or childbirth, fears, PTSDs, sleep issues, or almost anything that a person wants to change or improve. These therapies are a cooperative effort between the therapist and the client. I can't "make" you do anything; I am just your guide, helping you to release and resolve issues that have been blocking you from your enjoyment of life. I have 10 years of experience, and have helped over 1500 private clients.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      How does hypnosis work?

Hypnosis is a wellness technique that works by promoting positive behavioral or cognitive changes. During successful hypnosis, the client should be eased into a state of deep relaxation in which the conscious mind takes a back seat and the subconscious mind becomes more active. The client is often able to let go of critical thoughts and become receptive to the therapist’s suggestions. In this state of hypnosis, motivating suggestions can bypass your usual mental resistance and internal defense mechanisms. For example, even if you want to quit overeating cupcakes, you may have some level of resistance that your rational mind can’t overcome. During hypnosis, the positive suggestions made by the hypnotherapist can bypass your usual blocks, helping you to achieve the formerly unachievable: stopping overeating, quitting smoking, mastering public speaking, or losing your fear of heights. The goal of hypnosis is to strengthen and empower the client’s motivation, commitment and focus. Consider working with someone who is not just trained in hypnosis but also is a licensed therapist or psychotherapist who can bring their academic background into your session.

What can hypnosis help you with?

According to many sources including the National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) which is part of the United States National Library of Medicine and a branch of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), hypnosis is scientifically proven to help relieve both mental challenges and physical pains. Hypnosis can alleviate stress and reduce pain after surgeries, has been shown to relieve anxiety in children in the emergency room, and can be useful for managing pain associated with everything from arthritis to migraines. Hypnosis is non-invasive and gives you a way to control pain or discomfort that might otherwise seem out of your hands. Hypnosis shouldn’t be used as a substitute for medical care, but may be an excellent complementary tool that is best provided by a trained therapist or licensed medical provider. The University of Maryland Medical Center shares many conditions for which hypnosis can be useful:

      • Irritable bowel syndrome
      • Tension headaches
      • Alopecia areata
      • Asthma
      • Phobias
      • Insomnia
      • Addictions
      • Bedwetting
      • Fibromyalgia
      • Labor and delivery
      • Skin disorders, such as acne, psoriasis and eczema (atopic dermatitis)
      • Stress
      • Tinnitus (ringing in the ears)
      • Cancer-related pain
      • Weight loss
      • Eating disorders
      • Warts
      • Indigestion (dyspepsia)
      • Post-traumatic stress disorder
      • Smoking cessation

How is hypnosis used in therapy?

Hypnosis is a powerful tool to help clients overcome challenging issues such as anxiety, phobias, pain management, hot flashes and more. Hypnosis is also a way to help let go of addictions like smoking, overeating and gambling. In and of itself, hypnosis is not a therapy, but it can be used in conjunction with therapy to empower and encourage the person receiving it to make positive change. Some people are more susceptible to hypnosis and will benefit more from hypnotherapy than others.

According to Dr. Clifford N. Lazarus, speaking for Psychology Today, hypnosis is a “genuine psychological phenomenon that has valid uses in clinical practice … hypnosis is a state of highly focused attention or concentration, often associated with relaxation, and heightened suggestibility. While under hypnosis (i.e., in a hypnotic trance), it seems many people are much more open to helpful suggestions than they usually are.” The suggestions made in a therapeutic setting get deep into a person’s brain, beyond their conscious thinking, leading to behavior change and the ability to overcome challenges that might otherwise seem insurmountable.

What is the effectiveness of hypnosis?

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services recognizes the healing power of hypnosis and its proven effectiveness for anxiety, pain control, smoking cessation, headaches and more. Hypnosis may be safe and complementary way to augment medical attention you are receiving for a chronic illness or pain, or a way to resolve an addiction or phobia that you are otherwise unable to control. Hypnosis does not work on every person. When scientists began studying hypnosis in earnest, a report published by Stanford University titled “The Stanford Hypnotic Susceptibility Scale” demonstrated that different brains respond to hypnosis in varying degrees, and a very few do not respond at all. Working with a trained psychologist, you’ll soon determine whether you are a good candidate for the healing benefits of hypnotherapy.

During a hypnotherapy session, the therapist will bring you into a state of deep relaxation in which the critical, conscious part of your brain recedes and the subconscious mind becomes alert and focused. The therapist will make suggestions, based on your intended goals, that will take root in your subconscious mind. These suggestions should affect your thinking in a positive way and empower you to make change.
