We were completely satisfied with the promptness and attention to detail provided by Freeman Billiard Service. They arrived slightly ahead of time at the original location, and worked quickly and efficiently. Carl and his son clearly have years of professional experience behind them. They worked steadily and surely to disassemble, move, reassemble and set up our slate table. Although it didn't need re-felting, if anything, the table was smoother and more level than before they moved it. They were very pleasant and courteous, and very neat in their work. They sited the table for maximum clearance all around, and basically assured that we'll have many years of quality use from this table. We would gladly recommend them to anyone who needs a billiard table moved or serviced.

We had a great experience with Indenpendent Billiards Services. Joe responded to our post within a few hours, asking for some specific details so he could give us an accurate quote which turned out to be very reasonable. We needed a pocket replaced which we already had. He was extremely professional and responded quickly to any and all of our questions. We scheduled for him to come out a day or so later. He arrive right on time and he quickly discovered we had the wrong pocket. He took the time to show us exactly what we did need and even confirmed we had the right one selected before we purchased it. They came back a day after the new pocket arrived and replaced it. Looks beautiful! We will be calling Joe again if we need anything else!! Thanks Joe!!

      About

Hi, I am is Mark, and I have been in the billiard business for more than 45 years, dealing with the pool table enthusiasts from every age group. There is a "funny story" I'd like to share regarding assembling my first pool table: My former partner who owned a bike shop back in 1965 and whose cousin employed for a big pool table manufacturer contacted us one day and inquired us if we had the capability to assemble pool tables. My partner and I, being the odd-job man that we believed we were at the time, stated, "How hard could it be?" Well, we took our first pool table assembly, not knowing precisely what was necessary to finish this job successfully. Needless to say, after eight hours of scanning through the directions and lots of bruises and cuts, we left for the day, having to get back the next day for some other five hours to finally complete the job. The customer presumed all pool tables needed thirteen hours to set up and thanked us for performing a great job. Today, with over 45 years of experience, this job takes a bare 2 hours or less. The lesson of this story is: experience is needed when taking on a task of this magnitude. And, bring a level! Today, with this website, Action Billiards sells and makes hundreds of pool tables yearly, including relocating, recovering, and refinishing in the tri-state area and sales of accessories, such as cues, balls, racks, darts, casino equipment, card tables, lamps, air hockey, ping pong, foosball, and let's not forget rentals. The best part of it is you can purchase all of these and more from this website. Just click back to our homepage, and decide where you want to go. We desire to be your experience. Visit Action Billiards for your entire pool table needs.

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to restore a pool table?

Keeping your pool table in prime condition both protects your investment and makes it more fun to play. If your billiards table has been damaged by age or player misuse, experienced pool table repair pros are ready to help. The average national cost to hire a pool table specialist is $330-$400, but pricing can vary depending on how much restoration work needs to be done and the type and cost of materials you need. Depending on the type of pool table you want, the cost to buy one new can range from $1,000 to $5,000 and up, so investing in upkeep every few years makes good financial sense. Common pool table repairs include refelting the table, replacing cushions and cushion rubber that is has deteriorated or been damaged, installing new pockets or replacing damaged pockets, and fixing chips or smoothing uneven slate. You can also have wood pool tables refinished to restore them to their former luster, which may start around $600 and go up, depending on size, wood type and necessary repairs. Pool table repair pros can level an uneven table, repair broken leg mounts and address other foundational issues. Pool table repair pros can also fix coin-operated parts for commercial tables.

How much does it cost to replace pool table felt?

Owning a pool table, whether for pleasure or business, means investing in upkeep. Keeping the felt in good condition is important to ensure not only appearance but a smooth game. The national average cost to hire a pool table repair professional ranges from $330 to $400. A quality pool table is a major investment, so you want to hire a pro who is experienced and comes with glowing references. Refelting a pool table is a specialized skill calling for technical tools, competence with slate smoothing and repair, and the ability to provide a precision application of the felt that won’t hinder play.

When well cared for, pool table felt can last up to a decade; pros recommend replacing your pool table felt every three years or so, more often if you play heavily. Refelting and pool table repairs can cost more for antique and custom pool tables. Commercial pool table owners are wise to have multiple pool tables repaired at one time, as they can often get discounts for volume work.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
