I wasn't sure how coaching worked and if it would be for me. I was a little shy at first to reach out and talk to someone I didn't really know. After working with Judy, I was able to really express my true thoughts and feelings regarding topics I could barely tell anyone else. I gained more confidence and strategies for reducing stress and learning how to deal with specific triggers that hindered my potential.I throughly enjoyed Judy and her feedback to my concerns. The frequency and timing of sessions was easy to manage with a busy schedule and the resources she provided me will continue to help me in the future. I would definitely recommend Judy's services as she is a reliable, personable and incredible individual who has helped me progress in areas I was always unsure how to correct on my own. Judy has been a pleasure to work with and is really worth a try if you’re in need of life coaching!

Exceptional in every single way! When I contacted the burning zone, the response was prompt. Based on my goals I was match with Ulysse, he offered the first training for free. I had worked with personal trainers before, I could tell right away he was knowledgeable. He heard me out on my goals (strength building and body balance, not weight loss) and at the end of the session he came up with a plan on how we should work out. Ulysse's positivity and attitude towards health and fitness carries over to all aspects of your life when you work out with him. He is a strong nutritionist, adjust the workouts to your body and your needs and constantly switching things up. He watches you closely and ensures you get the most out of every exercise, he knows how to push you hard but not over the edge. Ulysse has a motivating effect which is exactly what you want in a trainer. On days you don't meet, a text message reminder to make healthy choices and will encourage you to stay on track. Ulysse is truly invested in your personal success, this isn't just some one-size-fits all program. I also love that he does not believe in or push products/supplements and other garbage onto you, his method: healthy eating exercise, rest and hard work. Ulysse is energetic, motivating, an awesome person and trainer. I enthusiastically recommend him to anybody reading this who needs a fantastic personal trainer.

Working with Kathy is awesome- I do see myself working with her for a long time. Love her coaching and encouragement as well. Kathy, trianing is all about proper form and no injury! And that is key for proper weight-lifing!!! One can get awesome training without the overly soreness- muscles are worked without the extreme shred. Love it! Great workout and great coach. My fiancé and I hired Lucie in June 2015 to help us get in shape for our wedding and start to lead a healthier life. We are both work full time and had very limited free time, but Lucie still happily agreed to work with our schedules. Lucie completely tailored our workouts, food and supplementation to our abilities and bodies while constantly asking for our feedback so she could more perfectly tailor our plans. Lucie has taken great care in monitoring our progress and making adjustments as needed. Lucie is a skilled professional who knows what she's doing and is also very good at what she does. Lucie is always available to talk if we have any concerns. She has completely changed the way we view our bodies and nutrition. We now view work outs and meal preparation as something enjoyable, instead of a chore. Hiring Lucie as a personal trainer has been one of the single greatest decisions we have made for ourselves. We have truly enjoyed our time working with Lucie and look forward to many more years of training with her.

There are trainers and there are TRAINERS. Stefan at Discipline Training Studio is a true TRAINER. I don't know of another trainer that takes such a personal interest in determining the right program for each client. The ability of each person is different, so maximizing their performance is Stefan specialty. When I started with his program, Stefan told me he was going to give me back my youth, now 8 years later and 70 years old, no truer words were ever spoken. It's never to late to start.

Lisa is extremely skillful and caring. She assisted me in letting go of life long family issues that were dragging me down and keeping me from recognizing that I deserve happiness. She helped me get rid of my lifelong belief that I'm not good enough as I am. She helped me get rid of my fear that the world is in an inevitable downward spiral of disarray and doom. And she helped me flush a very disturbing toxic business contact and neighbor/friend who both turned against me after I got close to them. All of this change was accomplished in 4 visits. My last visit was 9 months ago and the results have been permanent.

I've taken pole dancing classes, personal coaching, and teacher training at various times throughout the years starting in 2011. I've found every aspect working with Ro a safe and nurturing environment. She sees the best in you and encourages you to strive for this level. I always left her classes or training feeling better about myself, which is an invaluable trait in today's society.

I had the pleasure of first meeting Aari at a group yoga class sponsored by a corporation. The session was to assist people with stress filled careers. What a moment! Aari exuded her love of the principles of yoga with both humor and how she assisted us in feeling like we were capable of doing each movement according to our level of learning. Aari excited me to learn more so I approached her about individual yoga classes. She offered classes in the home and my Aari yoga classes began. Four of my friends and I have been her clients since 2003. She has always and I truly mean always been a person of integrity and one of learning and teaching. Her calm and reassuring manner has helped me through several difficult times in my life as well as my friends. She has helped me use the breathing techniques in my yoga practice to move me in to optimal "chi." I absolutely love how she listens to the body. She is the best at what she does! We now have our teens asking for her before they have tests or when they go through crisis. They love how she uses yoga to create peaceful moments. What could Aari be better at? She could make Aari classes for everyone!

My son, my nephew, and myself all benefit from learning about how health and fitness go together. Believe me, I'm somebody who hates the word 'exercise', because I view exercise as physical work that serves only to remind me of how out-of-shape I am. However, 'fitness' is something that I believe requires Body, Mind and Spirit working together to do what they do best...serving to remind me of how good and complete I can feel. Dave has shown us all how the benefits of health and fitness are immediate. His passion for enlightening, encouraging, and empowering people across the board is undeniable. He believes in each of his clients, for he sees beyond that which most choose to. I highly recommend Dave as both a personal trainer and health coach to my family, my friends, and to my clients. Today, make self-care a priority and call Dave at Renaissance Health and Fitness. I'm so very glad I did. Dale Kingsley, LMFT Trinity Therapeutic Care, LLC

Had 4 different coaches and no one like him! He’s always been on top of his game, whenever I train with him he’s been kind enough to throw in my meal plan at the end of every workout and most importantly “educated” me through each workout rather than just train me for that hour.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    What is a life coach?

A professional, accredited life coach works with people to help them make important changes in their life, either growing in their profession or changing gears in their personal lives. They help clients turn their dreams or wishes into realistic, attainable goals. They guide people through the process of making life changes by helping them evaluate the steps they must take to reach a particular goal, then help them decide how — and whether — to take those steps in the most efficient, effective and rewarding way possible. A life coach acts as a motivator, strategist and accountability partner. Unlike a therapist, a life coach doesn’t help solve problems from your past — they’re focused on helping you move forward with new ways of acting and thinking that will help you reach your goals. Some people specialize in particular types of life coaching, including life balancing coaches, small business coaches, executive coaches and personal finance coaches. Some meet clients in person, while others hold consultations over the phone.

Regardless of which type of life coach you’re interested in, make sure the person holds an International Coach Federation (ICF) credential. There are three tiers of credentials: Associate, Professional and Master, which require coaching experience ranging from 100 hours to 2,500 hours.

    What is a health coach?

A health coach is a service provider you can hire to help you realize your wellness goals. You can hire a health and wellness coach to guide you through life changes, keep you focused on weight loss or fitness goals, help boost your mental health, and more. Many health coaches work with their clients for set periods of time as the client moves toward a measurable goal. Wellness coaches come from varying backgrounds, and may have different areas of focus depending on their education and training. Research potential coaches by reading their reviews, researching their academic and personal backgrounds, and learning about any certifications they have earned from coaching institutes. Often, health and wellness coaches sell coaching packages ranging from three to six months or longer, depending on the client’s needs. The average national cost for an individual health coach session ranges from $60 to $90, although prices may range as low as $30 or up to $130 or more, depending on your location and the coach.

How much does a life coach cost?

A life coach helps clients set and reach professional and personal goals, develop positive habits, and deal with stress. Some people meet with a life coach once or twice, while others form an ongoing professional relationship, meeting regularly in person or on the phone. The average national cost to meet with a life coach ranges from $80 to $130 an hour. Some coaches offer per-session pricing, especially for one-time meetings; expect to pay an average of $100-$125. People who want to work with a coach over a period of time to explore life transitions, career growth or lifestyle changes may be able to get discounted pricing in a package. For example, three 60-minute sessions cost an average of $300, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $350, and four 60- to 90-minute sessions plus unlimited contact between sessions cost an average of $400. Some specific types of coaching, such as relationship or marriage coaching, cost more than standard life coaching. For instance, three 60-minute relationship coaching sessions cost an average of $500, four 60-minute sessions cost an average of $550, and six 60- to 90-minute sessions cost an average of $650 when purchased as a package. Training and experience can also affect the cost of hiring a life coach. An Associate Certified Coach, who holds a certification that requires only 60 hours of training and 100 hours of coaching experience, will charge less than a Master Certified Coach, who typically has at least 200 hours of training and 2,500 hours of coaching experience.

What is a holistic wellness coach?

When you want to reach new heights with your health and wellness, consider hiring a holistic wellness coach. Much like a health coach, a holistic wellness coach is focused on your well-being and meets with you in one-on-one sessions to help you identify and reach your targeted goals. A holistic wellness coach will typically have you take all components of your life into account when working to achieve your goals. If your goal is to lose weight, a holistic wellness coach will not only offer recommendations for your diet and exercise, but also discuss your emotional health, your work/life balance, your spiritual side, and each area of your life that affects your ability to follow a nutrition and fitness plan.

Although they are highly motivational and often can help clients achieve great results, holistic wellness coaches are not professional health care providers or registered dietitians. Different institutes and training centers provide certifications for holistic wellness coaching, so be sure to research your coach and read their reviews to understand more about their techniques and training.

    Why get a life coach?

People of all ages and in all careers have called in a life coach. Life coaches are accredited professionals who can help you figure out the tangible changes you can make in your life to reach your goals; they can even help you turn your dreams into goals, if you’re not sure where to go next. A life coach can also help people find their purpose in life. Life coaching clients often have an idea of what they want to do, such as help people or work with animals, but don’t know how to turn that passion into a career. A life coach can help clients work through the options to find a clear path with concrete steps that lead to an attainable goal. A life coach can also help clients make a major career change, such as starting a new business. Life coaches can help clients develop better habits that will make them more successful, acting as an accountability partner. Life coaches also often guide their clients through major transitions in life, such as a career change or other stressful situations that are made easier with guidance from a neutral third party.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
