Twice a week, I immerse myself into Spanish, the differences in Latin American cultures, including cuisines, dress styles, and more with my favorite tutor. Since February, I have taken a minimum of two Spanish lessons a week to not only create more professional opportunities, but also because I am a travel junkie, and South American countries are on my radar. Sara uses a variety of helpful aids to make learning Spanish fun and engaging. She incorporates fun videos, TV shows, exercises, games, and group chats with friends to make the learning process easier. She's very patient and puts so much effort into my needs. In just a few months, I've learnt so much that many of my friends, family members, and workmates are quite astonished at how well I'm speaking. Sara is fun, patient and best of all, in-tune to one's needs, which is important considering that learning a new language as an adult isn't the easiest thing. I'd absolutely recommend her if you want to learn Spanish conversationally or for professional reasons.

My daughter was trying hard, but really struggling with AP French at her competitive Manhattan school. She was also resistant to the idea of outside help, at first, but Seamus' approach put her at ease. With his help, she caught up with her class and developed the skills/confidence to reach her AP score goals. Because of his results, I decided to use him to finally brush up on my own rusty Spanish, something I've known for a while would help with my career, and it wasn't nearly a hard as I'd feared. I wish someone like him had been around back when I was learning the first time. Highly recommended.

I have been teaching both Spanish and Italian for about 7 years now and love it! I am a native Italian, I grew up in Southern Italy (Naples & Sicily). I love what I do and I'm good at it. I love languages, I went to the Middleburry Language Institute (a total emersion program) to earn my teaching certificate. Language is what I know, I am passionate about it. I know I was born with this gift for a reason :) I love being emerced in another language and I love being able to teach it to others. I present the language in a way that is easy for people to learn for long term memory storage. I use a lot of visuals, audio and online resources to teach any demographic.

Most teachers, like me, are professional musicians who supplement their income by giving lessons. However: I genuinely love teaching and would happily do it even if I didn't need the money. My students can see the passion and excitement I have for my work, and that does wonders in their ability to learn and develop. It is one thing to play an instrument well, but it is another thing entirely to know how to teach it well. Everything. I love working with people, especially children. I love making others feel proud and rewarded for their accomplishments. I love using music to facilitate such positive experiences in people's lives.

I am a Spanish teacher who loves helping others learn! I have worked with students with all different ability levels including students with special needs, gifted students and all levels in between. I believe that all students can achieve their goals and enjoy learning! I make learning fun and help students make valuable connections that help them succeed. I have completed 60 credits above my Master's and have focused on teaching literacy as well.

I offer any services needing Spanish and English bilingual skills such as the following: transcription, translation, interpreter, tutoring, media services (closed caption, subtitles, and proofreading). I am a native Spanish speaker and perfectly fluent in both Spanish and English languages. I lived in the US for over 35 years. I know the nuances and colloquialism in both languages. Consider myself a perfect "hybrid" between both worlds.

I teach French the best that no one can teach. I teach from scratch so that everything flows easily and you learn.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a Spanish tutor do?

The goal of a Spanish tutor is to help students improve their Spanish reading, writing, comprehension, and conversation skills. The tutor’s approaches may vary, depending on whether the instruction is individual or a group class. Many Spanish tutors practice immersion — meaning they will speak only Spanish with their pupils. For students with little to no Spanish experience, the Spanish tutor may use a mix of Spanish and English to accustom their students to speaking the language.

A Spanish tutor can offer a wide range of services to their students. For students currently enrolled in a Spanish class through their middle school or high school, a Spanish tutor can help them with homework and language practice, as well as expanding their understanding of their current school curriculum. For adults, Spanish tutors will have different approaches based on that student’s need. Academics and those seeking high-level professional development for their career will often have more intensive and targeted lessons, drills, and interactive speaking tests. For adults who wish to learn conversational Spanish for fun or for travel, lessons may revolve around learning commonly used phrases and practicing speaking in relaxed settings.

How much do Spanish tutors charge?

Nationally, the average cost for a Spanish tutor ranges from $30 to $40 per hour. The cost for a Spanish tutor can vary depending on whether you choose private instruction or group lessons. Geographic location can affect cost; tutors in expensive cities and pricier regions command higher rates than in rural areas and small towns. The experience and education of the Spanish tutor will also affect their rates. For adult education, many people learning Spanish choose to join a Spanish school with tutors who teach group classes and also offer private tutoring for students. Typically these schools charge a monthly tuition that gives students access to a set number of classes per week, with private tutoring available at an additional cost. One example of an average cost is a monthly tuition of $200, which includes five 90-minute group lessons per month. Monthly tuition can vary depending on the school and the teachers. Short-term workshops are also a way to learn Spanish. Students may work with a Spanish tutor and group of other students at their skill level for a short period of time. One example of an average price is $100 for an eight-week course, with one 60-minute group class per week.
