Bobby H. says, "After dealing with HVAC issues following the freezing Maryland winter in early 2026, I decided it was time to replace my old system instead of continuing to recharge it and hope for the best. Older systems that use R-22/Freon can be very expensive to recharge, and there is always the risk that it will only be a temporary fix. I first received a quote from Home Depot for around $12,000, which was much higher than I wanted to spend. I later found Phoenix heating and cooling through Thumbtack, and he responded right away. He gave me an estimate over the phone, came out the next day, and, after seeing the system in person, actually quoted me less than his original estimate. He and another worker installed the new inside and outside system, worked for most of the day, and came back the next day to finish charging the system and make sure everything was cooling properly. Since then, the system has been running perfectly. He was professional, knowledgeable, fair with pricing, and explained everything clearly. My only small complaint is that I wish he offered more payment options, but overall, I was very happy with the work and would definitely recommend Phoenix Heating and Cooling for HVAC repairs or replacement."See more

Valerie A. says, "I appreciate the options that were given for the project, but I did not like the fact that the initial end product was left incomplete and I had to pay an additional cost to repair it. I am aware that generally an HVAC contractor may not repair drywall; however, I was not told before the beginning of the project that several holes would me made in my living room. Before the beginning of the project, I was asked whether I wanted to add on a paint contractor who they work with to renovate the HVAC closet. I paid for that additional cost, which was fairly high for a small area especially since I provided the paint, and had the understanding that the painter would repair the drywall after the install was complete. The painter did the renovation before the install, which caused additional repairs needed in the HVAC area after the install. The holes were not patched or painted until I complained about how it was left and then had to wait several days for the painter to come back. I am giving 4 stars because they did respond after I paid, which most contractors will not do after getting paid, but I feel as though this should have been done properly without me having to pay any additional cost or tell them about it."See more
