Being in a weird professional transition back to my profession, Katie worded my resume and cover letter beautifully to gloss over gaps of unemployed time that allowed my skills to be highlighted rather than time spans. The cover letter was precise, professional, and engaging with a clean format and professional style. Hire her, she is fast, engaging, and a bargain compared to other resume writers that may seem cold and brash. I would recommend her to all of my friends.

Hi hired Derrick and Blue Square Writer's studio for the final edit of my vampire novel. The decision to hire was based on both his professional response to my initial post, as well as the reasonable price he offered for the service. And I don't mind saying that I definitely got my money's worth from his edit. He covered the basics, correcting my grammar and spelling, but also provided positive critical feedback regarding character and story development, helping me to shape my manuscript into a strong and marketable book. I look forward to working with him on future projects, and I can absolutely recommend his service for writers of fiction, like myself.

I am in the process of writing applications for graduate school. I don’t want to be a writer, but I want my writing to get better. Andrés definitely helped. He is sincere, diligent, and thorough in his editing; my essays are more impactful for it. I felt encouraged throughout the process and he always responded quickly to my concerns. I cannot think of a better support team and confidence-builder. Writing is hard, especially if it’s not your job. Andrés definitely helps.

Ever since I can remember, Jason has been studying music. A writer, producer, manager, studio extraordinaire, he is everything music. Since we were kids all I can remember is just experimenting, that was the most fun of all because when you are young and you have the same passion as your cousin sitting right next to you, as you experiment with different sounds and styles, you create magic. I will always remember all the times we would stop jamming (him on guitar and myself on drums) and just look at each other like, wow, that was freaking awesome. We always had a chemistry and really I think it's because we just come from the same blood line as our highly talented grandfather who was a very respected drummer in the Delaware County area in Pa. As time went on and we became older, Jason really took off. His dream to open his own studio always stayed in the back of his mind through college and it motivated him and gave him the drive of the musican he is today. The thing about Jason is that he is humble. Sure, everyone wants to get paid but with Jason it's all about the music. He generally just wants to learn off of new artists and their sounds/styles and also give his feedback to them. It's all about bouncing ideas off one another in the studio, that's how the magic happens. Couldn't begin to explain the countless hours staying up listening to tracks over and over but that makes a great producer. I remember the Hobokan, NJ studio session and how accomplished we felt after just a weekend there. We really put in some work but most of all had fun whenever we made music together. Today, Jason would say he still has a lot to learn just because that's how humble he is but I would say he is at his strongest point in his career right now. With his own studio business growing and his ear for catchy music better than ever, I would encourage anyone who was looking for a producer/engineer to take the time and use this guys knowledge. He knows a lot at such a young age and I only wish I could be around more to experience the magic with him.

David had responded to a Craigslist post I had made requesting the services of a writer to formulate my artist biography for publicity purposes. Amidst a slew of amateur responses, the professional demeanor in which David initiated our correspondence made me realize he might be the one, but that he would probably be far beyond my budget. I had never had a proper artist biography before and was overwhelmed by the process, but David guided me through with a fool proof, open-ended survey that would help me describe my life experiences as well as my history as an artist in a succinct manner. He assured me that he would know how to edit my lengthy responses since the survey was the same one he'd become accustomed to using for his company as editor-in-chief of MUTE Magazine, and he was right! When I received the final product, I was astonished! David's turnaround time was so prompt, and he was welcoming of any additional edits I had in mind. When I braced myself for the cost of the bio, David surprised me once again by not bursting my budget, and even asking if he could feature me in his magazine! As I've gotten to know David since our chance meeting, I've learned that he is genuinely the professional that he exudes on a daily basis. By hiring him, you will get the quality you desire with no corners cut!

I first met Lorna after reading her incredible poetry. I was mesmerized by her power of word usage. I was so captivated by her creative style that I had to read all that she had published. Over the years, she has been a very valuable resource because of her incredible ability to direct and cultivate my own writing talents. Recently, she has entered the children’s marketplace. This expanded her value to use and consult with, as her professional approach has been quite enlightening while adding great richness to my writings. I look forward to using her unique talents in all my future writing.

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

          • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
          • Strong writing skills.
          • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
          • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
          • Expertise in your target area.
          • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

          • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
          • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
          • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
          • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
