Had a tree removal done. Great job and great price. Showed up on time too, which is an issue I've had with other contractors. Also, licensed and insured which was very important to me. The tree was located very close to the house and they took extra precautions to make sure they didn't damage any of the surrounding plants or the house itself.

Steven and his crew were incredible. Did quick work in the downpouring rain and didn’t complain about it all. I had a tree removed and 2 more trimmed. These guys are great and more reasonably priced than any of the other 3 I had come out for estimates. You’re crazy if you don’t hire this guy. Before and After pics below.

We're very satisfied with John's work, and are glad we hired him. He didn't just do what we asked, but went above and beyond to make sure that our yard looked as good as possible in between visits. He was also happy to help with our palm tree and all the bushes around our house. Great guy, great service, great price. What more could you ask for?

Overall a very good price for the tree removal and tree trimming that needed to be done. Scot is very personable and knowledable and on time. His crew could be a little more careful about where some of the debris falls. There was some "collateral damage" on some of my wife's ornamentals outside. A large amount of leaves were left around the outside air handlers at my business which could have turned into a bigger problem if we had not recognized that and cleared the air handlers ourselves.

Sent out the request. Quick response and fair price. Great communication on short notice and very personable. Showed when he said he’d be here and got right to it. I few hiccups but he took it in stride and got the job done. I would highly recommend. Work Done: Remove Kitchen Faucet and install replacement.

I wanted Mr. Moore to help redo my front yard landscape. He did a great job with his crew. He removed all my existing landscape and also trimmed couple of medium oak trees to increase the visibility of the house to the street. Planted a variety of plants after getting the design approved by me and also transported and put in the fountain that I have purchased separately. Very professional and courteous service. Will definitely hire again for similar work.

The estimate for tree removal was very reasonable considering it was close to the house, power lines, and a new fence. They arrived on time and completed the job in the estimated time frame. The tree and stump were removed completely, and the cleanup was excellent. I will definitely hire them again.

Matt and his crew arrived at the appointed time on two occasions to remove some pine trees from my yard. They did a great job getting the trees cut down and hauled away. Despite the tricky location of the trees adjacent to other trees and structures, they removed the trees without damaging anything. I would highly recommend these guys for tree removal. Great job for a very fair price!

Dewy has started mowing our lawn. We have only had 2 cuts so far but he has been there when he says he will be and has fair pricing And has done a good job. I also had him remove 2 dead trees from my property and 2 beautiful palms were hiding inside. He cleaned it up very nicely and it looks beautiful. Today I had Briana clean for me and she was on time, had her own products and did a good job. i will continue to use Rose LLC for my home projects and really like the 1 stop shoping.

Friendly guy. Works alone, so our big leaf removal project ended up taking 3 different visits. His pricing was fair, but I ended up paying nearly triple the original quote. Also, while most of the leaves were gone, after three visits the yard still wasn't totally clean. One complaint is that we have a garden in our back yard and he blew a lot of leaves INTO the garden completely covering several of our flowers. Best thing he could do is get a person to work along side him.

LJ removed 3 mature norfolk pines and 1mature live oak from my property. LJ's arrived on time with a professional crew and equipment. After safeguarding the property from debris, LJ climbed each tree and removed sections in a controlled manner. Debris was removed the same day. Despite 8hrs of tree removal, no one was harmed nor was property damaged. In addition, LJ trimmed several trees in my font yard. The trees now look healthy and maintained.

Excellent provider overall 1. Communication. Very responsive and actually first contractor that arrived when they said they would be. 2. Work quality. They were extremely careful not to damage the sprinkler’s lines or heads while removing the old sod. 3. Sod quality. 4. Full explanation on how to treat the new sod and they even setup the sprinklers themselves Yes, we do recommend them and we would use them again in the future.

Ivan is very professional and fair in his price quote. He arrived with his guys at 7:30 am and was finished by 12 pm. His crew did an amazing job of cutting back 4 trees and clearing out bushes in the backyard. They also laid down mulch and planted a few plants. I will definitely hire him again and again...I recommend Imperial Landscaping of CFL for landscaping services.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.
