He was honest and if it was out of his league he referred you to one company who would do you right to fix your ducts if clogged and ours was clogged and Ferdie Mitchell was open and honest he didnt have the tools to unclog duct works but he did refer us to a great company who are just as good as his appliance repair. This guy he specializes in duct work and was only $90 .Verge Mitchell was reasonable to come out quoted us $45 diagnostic test on our dryer. Hope this helps everyone and reviews help us know who's a great company or person to get ahold of and thumb tack site helps.

Al, was hired to install my dishwasher and did a great job. He was amazing and did a wonderful job installing my new Dishwasher and disposal. He went the extra mile when a part was missing to make sure everything worked right. Al, has a lot of experience and very friendly and takes pride in his work. I would recommend him for any electrical job you need done or installing an appliance. Al, had to take a cabinet out to make my dishwasher fit and it looks great.

Wow. The glowing reviews for Orlando are very well-deserved. I initially hired him to remove an existing built-in microwave and replace it with a new model. He was on time, personable, professional, competent, reasonable, and efficient! I then mentioned that I've been having to light my 6-burner gas stove with a lighter. He had time, so he took the stove apart and diagnosed the problem. He's returning to repair that very soon. Orlando is the very first person we will always call for any appliance repairs. Do yourself a favor and hire this guy.

Carcani & Sons did excellent work on water damage done by my old dishwasher. He did the repair quickly and we were pleased with the end product. He also patched some drywall in our master bath. Again excellent work and we highly recommend.

Stan has done more than my original project I set out on thumbtack. He is honest, fair and reasonably priced. He started with minor plumbing then removing my backsplash and counters. Then putting up new drywall where my backsplash was and replacing it. I will hire him next to build a 15'x14' composite deck in my backyard bar area.

I had termite damage in the wall between the garage, bathroom, and laundry room. Rois Narvaez replaced the damaged studs, drywall, and trim, and finished and painted. The work is beautiful - you would never know there had been a repair. He and his helper were courteous and professional, and the job was very reasonably priced. I would definitely work with him again!

Excellent, professional work. Mark and his crew made sure they left our condo very clean and exactly as they found it. They painted, installed laminate flooring and took care of problems that weren't even on the original job quote - it looks amazing! I would gladly refer them to do any home remodel job, even for out of town owners. Thank you again for a wonderful experience. We will definitely call them again for all repairs.

Mr. Alvin West was 15 minutes early for the appointment. The experience was almost like having a friend of the family over to help me out. He was willing to answer all my questions. He removed my old microwave and installed my new one. He was very efficient and did an excellent job. I will ask him back for future work around the house when needed.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
