I really liked Yanier. He is an electrician by training - with some course study in HVAC repair. He was timely and professional. There were some language barriers as I am not fluent in Spanish but we were able to move forward. I would definitely use his services as an electrician. The only negative is that he didn't have the contacts on hand to get a part I needed but We were able to resolve that through my contacts. His price was fair- it took him a lot longer to complete the job because he didn't have the contacts to get a particular part but he only charged me for his actual labor time and not the time he spent looking for the part. PS Yanier if you are reading this- I am writing it with the intention of it being a positive review .

John Yacoub is a fabulous find & unusual in today's environment of expensive and frequently disappointing home repair. His work ethic, attention to detail, and superb execution is rare. I hired him to mount a new 48" television to the wall in a somewhat tight space; his price was extremely reasonable and he did exactly what I wanted and did it perfectly. John, "thank you" ..."job well done". I have already hired him for another project and gave my building management his contact information, because I think he is really THAT GOOD.

The washer and dryer stopped working for my tenants. Smart Tech Appliances was the first to respond to my request for assistance on Thumbtack and they remained responsive throughout the process of having the units looked at for repair and even came to install when I decided to replace the units. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!! I will reach out to them for any future appliance needs.

A Plus’s responded my online repair inquiry almost immediately. The technician they sent, Henry, has a lot of experience in fridge repair that help him identify the issues right away based my description of the problems. Repair is done fairly quick and price is reasonable. I would recommend the company to other people.

I have not used Thumbtack before and the whole experience was great! Came home from vacation to find our Kitchenaid built-in refrigerator was not cooling. It’s 18 yrs old so knew we could potentially have bad news=meaning time to buy a new refrigerator for $8-10k. David quickly responded to my request on a Sat morning and then my call. Gave him the refrigerator model number and he stopped at the parts store before he arrived so that he would have all that he might need to repair the refrig. Thankfully what he thought the problem was right and within 20 mins he had the new part installed all for under $200.00. I was thrilled! Overall the experience was great! Prompt, professional service for a fair price. Will definitely call Beach Breeze Appliance Repair again.

All in 1 Handyman Services was hired to remove wallpaper and paint a master bathroom along with several other repair in a rental property. We reside in Wichita, KS. They were professional and gave a detailed quote which rewarded them the job. Karen did an excellent job communicating with us on the project including pictures. We did run into an unforeseen issue which did set us back while we dealt with how to proceed. Ultimately I was thankful that Robert had the expertise to repair the issue. They did come to the house at 9pm and worked late so if you are looking for traditional 9 to 5 hours you will need to communicate this. I appreciated their hard work to ensure that my tenants could move in on time. I would recommend them and use them again.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
