This was a wonderful moving experience! From the moment I spoke and booked with the owner Mike he made the process too easy. I was never disappointed. The guys he sent out were such hard workers. They never took a break and just wanted to focus on getting the job done quickly while being careful. They also had wonderful personalities! I am 7 months pregnant and the movers were so considerate and concerned to make sure that I was comfortable. Great pricing- totally worth it!!!! I would highly recommend Mike's Movers to anyone who is considering moving.

Phil was amazing before my actual move. He was extremely personable and reliable whenever I needed to call and ask questions. The actual movers were extremely friendly and EFFICIENT! They moved and reassembled some of my furniture in about 2 hours. Some of my furniture definitely isn't the easiest to put together, but I heard no complaining from the guys throughout the process. I can't say enough good things about Phil and his team. I would highly recommend to anyone!

PROS: Fast, friendly, and efficient. 1Bdrm 3rd floor apartment to a 2Bdrm 2nd floor apartment. Kept it right at 3 hrs, even after one of the movers twisted his ankle. He was clearly hurt, but they got it done! CONS: While they were fast, a few of the boxes busted; but I must admit, some of my boxes were heavy as $@#&*! I highly recommend; money well spent. I appreciate cha' guys, be blessed!

The headway movers were efficient and professional. When they fell behind on their way to start the job, David sent an extra person to help pack at no extra charge. They made the moving experience as pleasant as it could have been and I would definitely recommend them to anyone else.

I had never used Thumbtack before. I'm glad I did. It was easy, I entered the information and I received multiple quotes within minutes. I hired Strongman Movers because they had a flat hourly fee which included the truck. They were fantastic. All my furniture was wrapped in moving blankets and plastic. They were both quick and efficient. Would definitely use them again.

I had a really old rusted broken down riding lawn mover taking up space on my patio slab. Matt got that thing out of my backyard in no time. He responded quickly once I contacted him. I will contact Executive Landscaping again.

I’m writing this review because Pick Up Movers earned it by being so honest with me at every step of my move. Their quote wasn’t the lowest. But the guy on the phone explained exactly where my money was going. They could have easily lower their prices and send inefficient movers. But their movers provided great value for my money. They were excellently trained and very skilled. I got the proof when all my belongings were delivered without any damages. Unlike many other companies, they didn’t add any hidden costs to the final bill. Thanks guys!

These guys are awesome. I couldn't believe how easy it was. Went on Thumbtack and requested a quote from them, and minutes later Scott called me up and got me setup for the next day. It really was easy to get setup. To top it off, they offer a very clear and simple pricing structure. No hidden fees or anything. What was really solid was the fact that if your movers finish before the time you're booked for, you get prorated for only the time they took. The movers are punctual and very friendly. Mike Surdis and Sondisa Obie helped me out for my job, these guys are on point and didn't have any problems at all moving my furniture. I moved into my new place downtown and these guys got the job done very quickly, as we were minutes away from getting caught in the rain. They are very friendly and I'm a recent graduate so it was cool helping out fellow students. Easily the most hassle free moving experience I've had to endure, I'm recommending this service to all of my friends who are also recent grads that need movers in the area. Thanks guys.

I am beyond happy with the fact that I chose to go with Moving Forward Relocation for my move. From the moment I first spoke with Dylan I was given a completely honest explanation of every step of the move. From how long it would take for delivery to how much it would cost. He was 100% transparent with me about everything. The movers were very respectful and courteous. And when I had any questions, their customer service team went out of their way to take care of me.

I was in need of a mover with a very short notice. These guys scheduled me in the very next day. I required a pick up at two locations and it was no problem with no extra charge. Note that the first pick was minor. They were on time and prepared to work the hours needed for my 200+ mile move. I had some abnormally heavy items and they viewed it as it was all in a days work. The price was very competitive and they should be first on your list to call. Thanks guys for such relief in a very stressful time.

Amerapex was recommended to us by a friend. We thought we could do this move on our own but figured out in the middle of it we were going to need help. It wasn't just last minute it was during the move that we called for help and Alex was able to get a crew to us in no time!!! I cannot thank them enough and will recommend to anyone needing a moving service!

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

      • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
      • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
      • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
      • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
      • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.

How much does it cost for long-distance movers?

Long-distance movers transport your belongings across the country for you. No more renting a trailer and road-tripping from state to state with your entire house hitched to your bumper. Long-distance movers make the move happen so you can fly to your new home, suitcase in hand, and wait for your furniture to arrive. Nationally, the average price range for long-distance movers is $1,490-$2,230. The distance you are moving and the number of cubic feet the movers have to transport will both affect cost. Another factor in long-distance moving costs is whether you choose to pay for an exclusive move or a consolidated move.

In an exclusive move, which is more expensive, your belongings are the only cargo on the moving truck. The movers travel directly to your new house and deliver your belongings on a scheduled day. A consolidated move is more affordable because the movers transport your belongings along with those of other people, saving them time and gas — which means you save money. The downside is that your belongings typically arrive with a two-week delivery window rather than on a prescheduled day. Read reviews to make sure you can trust the company with your possessions to ensure a peaceful moving process.

How much does it cost to move a one-bedroom apartment across the country?

Professional movers can handle the hard work of moving your one-bedroom apartment across the country for you. You can determine what your move will cost by learning the rate your movers charge per cubic foot and how they factor distance into the total cost. Cross-country movers typically charge based on your belongings rather than apartment size because that determines how much work they will have to do. For example, a studio apartment that is crammed full of things will take more work and moving truck space than the contents of a three-bedroom apartment with very little furniture.

Cross-country movers may also have varying rates, depending on where in the country you are moving. For example, a company may charge $5 per cubic foot for consolidated moves along the East Coast and $6 per cubic foot for consolidated moves from the East Coast to the central states or the West Coast. A one-bedroom apartment costs approximately $1,500 to move across the country.
