Steven and his crew did a phenomenal job trimming my large oak tree, palm tree, and Holly tree. A week ago, I had another tree trimmer work on several oak trees on my other house, but I realized after Steven's work, I regretted not contacting Steven at Supreme Landscaping for that project. He puts great effort in making sure everything is done correctly, and more importantly his pricing is upfront and more than fair. A lot of other trimmers that I requested quotes from would either give me outrageous quotes or will only give me an estimate after they see the tree. When the other trimmers come over to give me estimates, they would pressure me to do the work since they had already brought their equipment and crew. Steven was different, because he was able to give me an estimate that beat other's quotes just by looking at pics that I uploaded. Great job, Steven!! We will be in touch.

These guys are knowledgeable and professional. I highly recommend this company. I had a large dead tree removed with stump grind and a palm tree trimmed. Everything went smooth. The tree was removed without any damage and it was in a tight spot. The trimming looks really nice as well. The site was left clean and clear of debris. The price was very reasonable.

Maple Valley trimmed my palm trees and also trimmed the fruit tree that was growing next to my pool cage. The yard is so much sunnier and the trees look healthier getting rid of the extra weight.... I highly recommend!

Mike removed a 35 ft palm tree that was very close to my house. Mike replied quickly with a quote and was able to fit me in the next day. It only took about a hour to cut and remove the tree. I didn't need the stump removed. Mike and his crew dropped the tree exactly where they said that they would. They cut the tree up, loaded it in their trailer and cleaned all the debris from the yard. Mike and his crew were friendly, efficient and did a great job. I highly recommend them.

I hired Ironclad to uproot and replant some palm trees. Multiple other people told me it couldn't be done, but these guys had the confidence and were willing to tackle the challenge. The trees were moved successfully and are now thriving in their new location.

I am very pleased with H&D. The quality of the work was top notch. They were quick to respond to my request for help and came out to take a look even though it was raining to give me a quote. My husband was It was amazed I found someone that was so friendly and really knew what they were talking about so quickly. They were very honest, had good pricing, and got my husband’s approval after meeting him by chance which is pretty difficult. Truthfully we were a bit skeptical when they showed up with a truck and trailer and some chain saws to do the work. I would have thought they would bring in a bunch of heavy equipment that would tearing up the grass. However, they took to the trees with ropes and harnesses and I was absolutely amazed at the level of skills that they maneuvered from one branch to another. I really think that their method gave them a better eye on what they needed to get done because they were right in there on top of it. They climbed and took down a large dead tree at the corner of our dense and ground it down with no damage to either fences and surrounding other trees. I have an enormous oak tree in the front yard that I was worried about because I had found mistletoe on it. Come to find out it was infested with the stuff so I am glad I did not wait any longer to have to hire someone. They were able to save it and I swear every little bit of it out, they left with practically a whole 6x10 trailer full of mistletoe. What I was most amazed about was the removal of numerous large oak tree limbs above our newly screened pool enclosure without any mishaps. Screen had no damage at all. They did a ton of work in a very short time with amazing results. Much appreciated guys!!! I would highly recommend giving these guys a chance.

We had about 20 established palm trees pruned this past August and APS Tree Service did an outstanding job. They were punctual, pruned the trees as instructed, cleaned up the tree debris after the job and charged a reasonable price. You don't have to waste precious time comparing the price, work performance and reviews of other tree service companies. I did that research for you and wanted to share my exceptional experience by taking time to let others know through Thumbtack. Maureen

All Around Lawn Care and Landscaping did an excellent job trimming and shaping the 20 palm trees on my property. Dylan, the owner, came out the same day I inquired about the job and sent me a quote that same evening. He came when he said he was going to come and finished the job in a timely manner. I would highly recommend All Around Lawn Care and Landscaping and give Dylan 5 stars for excellent customer service and his high work ethics. I will definitely use his services again in the near future. Thanks Dylan for a job well done from start to finish.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

  • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
  • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.
