Amazing in every way! Couldn't be better! These guys are as good as it gets! Very professional, yet personable at the same time, answering all of my annoying questions as they worked without skipping a beat. They arrived on time, worked like lightning (as only true pros do) and did a flawless job. As if that weren't enough, the price was great. In record time, they replaced the rollers on our extremely heavy sliding glass impact doors which were close to immovable after 12 years since they were installed. Sitting and watching them work in amazement, we realized that if we had called anyone else it probably would have been a nightmare. They had to lift enormous, unbelievable heavy tight doors in order to get to the rollers to be replaced. They used the best stainless steel parts, because it is obvious that they have the highest standards in everything they do and in the materials they use. Now, we can open those doors with 1 finger easily. I am extremely hard to please, and very detail oriented. I was thoroughly satisfied with the job they did on our doors. If we ever need any work done on windows and/or doors Larry is the only person I would ever consider calling. The only sad part of all this for me is that this company only does work with doors, window, and glass. I wish I could find Larry's equal in other areas of home improvement. Beyond grateful to Larry and his team. Thank you from our hearts Larry for a stress-free, perfect job!

Chris is THE MAN to call if your windows are dirty and you need them cleaned. Chris arrived with a team of 3 guys; 2 worked on the inside glass while 2 worked on the outside of the same window glass. Several times, I heard one guy point at a specific spot on the window and say to his teammate, "Here. Get this. It's on your side," and then they'd work as a team to be sure the entire surface of the window was spotless and gleaming! I thought their teamwork was brilliant. I let them know I have white carpet in my bedrooms, and they removed their shoes and worked those rooms with stockings on their feet. Much appreciated. They used pails of water inside the house, and they were careful not to let the water slosh out of the buckets onto my floors. Outstanding experience. Highly recommend CB. Chris is a real pro. I was in awe watching him work. He is like a window artist--but instead of adding product to a blank canvas, he takes everything away and you end up with a pristine glass "canvas." I had checked out his Instagram page and he and his team do crazy high windows. I asked for his business cards and plan to recommend his work to several realtors I know, as well as to my friends and neighbors. If you are not sure which pro to choose, you can stop the back-and-forth right now and book CB. Chris wanted me to be happy with their work, and it's great to work with people who take pride in their craft and really care about customer satisfaction. I asked how long he's had his business and he said ten years. So pleased to have met this outstanding young businessman!

America Group does have the hardest working foreman in the business. I wasn't aware that when I decided on a fence that a prefab fence would have so many issues with splitting wood pieces. The company did stand by it's workmanship and replaced over 30 pieces of wood that had split. Looking back I would have had a fence built piece by piece. The company did what was right. Again, the hardest working man out there.

I hired Ramon Douglas of RD Handyman & Cleaning Services to assemble a "Tillman Media Center" which is an all wood piece of furniture brand new in a box completely unassembled with complicated instructions. Hiring him was a stroke of luck for me & an excellent decision. I am extremely fussy with eagle eyes & great attention to detail. I sat & watched him as he worked. I constantly asked a lot of questions as he worked. Most others would have found that annoying, but not Ramon. He answered all my questions as he worked in a meticulous manner never losing his positive, patient, charming manner. His work was flawless. Just perfect and I was so thrilled with the final product. I am planning to use Ramon for many other home projects knowing for sure that when I work with Ramon there will be no stress. Not only was his work perfect, but his price was great!!! What could be better than Best Price, Perfect Work, Great Person and NO STRESS.

Rooms to go told me four separate times that's a sinkhole in my coach could not be fixed. JC Designs fixed it. I had to window treatment companies tell me that my vertical blinds could not be fixed. JC designs fixed them. I had water leaking into my apartment from a water heater upstairs broke. It rotted The bottom of an expensive commode in my living room. I didn't think that it could be repaired. J C Designs repaired it and it looks beautiful. If you need something done right, and at a reasonable price. Call them. You will be happy you did.

I have to thank Rick Okray for the great job he did on my fence. He came out with a quote the next day. He give me a very reasonable price to replace the fence we lost in the hurricane. Also he replaced the fence that same week and had it completed in two days since the concrete had to set 1 day. He built the fence on site not using pre-made 8 foot sections. Did a great job and couldn't ask for a better person great attitude and very pleasant to work with. Also provided tips on how to take care of the wood to make it last for years. Thanks again Rick very satisfied customer!!!

Leo contacted us promptly after a request for quote and was able to come to our house very quickly to view project. He then provided a quote the same day and started the project quickly thereafter. He was prompt and timely, arriving to the house at the time promised. His workmanship was excellent (installed wood casing around our interior windows). Leo worked with us closely in planning our project and was able to share my vision and bring it to life (beautifully!) We have already started talking about our next project!

We replaced windows in our home we recently purchased in Fort Lauderdale. The Window Guys were not only priced below the other companies I received quotes for, but they were very knowledgeable about the various impact windows which worked best for my home. We were not sure which manufacturer to go with, but The Window Guys eliminated that headache for us and provided us with the best manufacturer for our home at the best price. We will definitely recommend them to all of our friends and use them for future work we will need.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

  • Trim repair:
    • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
    • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
  • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
  • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
    • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
    • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
      • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.
