About

I am passionate about the health, happiness and training of your dog (and other pets)! My professional career with animals has encompassed a wide range of roles that form a strong skill set for the care of your pet(s). After earning my professional dog training certification (ABC14120) in 2007 from the Animal Behavior (I am also a mentor trainer for students getting their dog training certification through Animal Behavior College), I became a veterinary technician to augment my knowledge of small animal health and behavior. These two skills lead me to a position with the behavior management department at The Jacksonville Humane Society. There I had the opportunity to evaluate and train hundreds of dogs needing a little extra help learning to behave in an appropriate manner around other dogs and people. I believe very strongly that each dog, whether he came to you as a puppy or was adopted as an adult (and everything in between), can benefit from positive training, creative enrichment, and a nice, long walk! I'd be happy to speak with you about your pets and how my services would benefit you and your family. I teach puppy, basic and intermediate obedience classes. Deborah & Cliff are very professional and have worked miracles with my two 6 month old GSD. In one session they were different dogs and as training progressed they have become the companions I was wanting. I would recommend Deborah for any type of dog training. She is excellent!

About

I took my 7 year corgi to Pamela's 4 week obedience class and was very happy with the results! I didn't think anyone could break my stubborn bossy corgi from 7 years of bad behavior, but Pamela is incredibly experienced and knowledgeable and gave me the tools to continue training my corgi into a well behaved dog. Anyone who says the training doesn't work is most likely not following Pamela's instructions completely and is not doing the training at home on their own. The most important thing I learned from Pamela is how changing my behavior will change my dog's behavior. I went to the training thinking my dog needed the training, but it was actually me who needed the training! I would recommend Pamela's 4 week obedience class to anyone who is serious about training their dog because you will learn a lot and you will see results. I would caution anyone who expects Pamela to change their dog's behavior for them because it will not happen. Pamela will give you the tools, but you will have to do the work; if you do, you will be very satisfied with the results!

About

My knowledge of canine behavior and training has been independently validated by the Certification Council for Professional Dog Trainers. I began dog training as a hobby 15 years ago, attending obedience classes and working with private trainers. Then, I earned a Canine Good Citizen certificate and a Pet Partners registration with my dog, Maddy, which allowed us to visit at a hospital for four years in animal therapy. I worked as a trainer at Fido's Farm in their board and train kennels and have trained informally in agility and flyball in the Washington State where I am originally from. I began offering private dog training full-time when I moved to Colorado in 2013. Since my move to Jacksonville, FL in June of 2015, I have developed a successful business and earned many more happy clients making dog training fun and easy for the whole family. My clients rave about my skills, both in teaching them and their dogs. I have also partnered with another successful and well-respected trainer in Marge Rogers, CPDT-KA with Rewarded Behavior Continues. I have over 500 hours training dogs and their people. I am passionate about the human-animal bond and have a soft spot for fearful and anxious dogs. I have had the privilege of working with two veterinary behaviorists, one in Colorado for my own dog's storm and noise phobia and another in Florida with a client dog's reactivity and fear issues. In my previous corporate career as a human resources manager, I gained much experience in training people and draw from that in private sessions and group dog training classes. I offer private training in your home, designed for your dog and your schedule. We begin with a free phone consultation, schedule our first session, then usually weekly 1-hour follow-up sessions. I have discounted training packages available that offer savings plus ongoing support through a huge library of over 50 instructional videos.

About

I brought my dog, Ella, to Waylon for e-collar training in spring of 2011. Ella is a hound-mix that I adopted from a rescue. Since she was a puppy, she has had problems with obedience, major food aggression issues and running away. I had taken her through multiple obedience training, agility classes and had her go through a 6 week training with Jana Logghe to work on these issues. She came out of the 6 week training a completely different dog! She no longer had food aggression problems and she actually started listening to us when we gave her commands. However, when we let her outside, her nose took over, and she would run and not come back. We decided to bring Ella back to Northwoods Animal Learning Center and have her e-collar trained with Waylon. I can’t even begin to describe how amazing the e-collar has been for us! Waylon did a fantastic job training Ella. Ella was a dog that could never be off leash, ever. She constantly had to be watched. After e-collar training, we can let her outside, whether we are out there or not, and she stays in the yard! When we call her she comes right away. If she does start to wander away and doesn’t come when we call, all she needs is a quick reminder buzz from the e-collar, and she is on her way back to us. E-collar training has been the best training for our dog. We considered other alternatives, like an invisible fence, but we didn’t want to go that route, because it wouldn’t teach Ella to stay with us when we go for walks, or take her to someone else’s house. We wanted a solution that would be permanent and would teach Ella to listen and not run away from us. I would definitely recommend Waylon to teach your dog e-collar training! I can not say enough times how wonderful this experience was for us. We have a changed dog!

About

My wife and I hired Mrs. Jennifer Cotugno to modify some aggressive behavior in our dog Keiko. Mrs. Cotugno met us at our residence and through her expertise quickly made significant progress in correcting negative behavior in a single session. By the second session, we could have a stranger walk into and about the household with minimal aggression. She taught us on understanding the signs of anxiety and fear in our dog and pointed out Keiko's personal quirks and triggers. Jennifer was also very helpful in offering advice on training aids, collars, and products tailored to our specific situation, even purchasing the merchandise on her own time and dime. Jennifer's professionalism and dog training skills are top-notch, empowering the dog in training and its owners in the handling of their pet with sure confidence. If you are considering hiring Jennifer to correct a behavior deficiency in your dog, I encourage you to not wait but give her a call.

About

"Manfred" and "Risky Business" are the names that were given to my first dog which is loved as a young girl. When a toy apricot-colored poodle was welcomed by my mother and aunt, who were sharing an apartment with a toddler (me), my grandfather asserted that having a puppy at this time in our lives would be a "risky business". Risky was his name from that day forward. Grandpa later got Risky a friend. He was a smooth-haired fox terrier named Manfred (also my grandfather's choice). In 2011, grandpa passed away, but today, I carry on his memory with the business of dogs and training. Deeply ingrained inside me are the memories and fond experiences of training as a child with grandpa. I am a recent transplant from Chicago, where I most recently managed a canine care company for two years. My business is humans and the pets that they love. I am rewarded with the relationships grown and peace it brings me to be among animals. My personal goal is to bring awareness and foster communication between the human and animal species. I aim to assist animal lovers in various ways to facilitate the best possible care for each unique creature. I pride myself on being adaptable and accommodating. Dogs have been my passion since I was able to walk. Much of my professional and personal life has been spent working towards the mastery of understand canines and caring for them with intent. I value respect for animals both domestic and wild. As a result of deeply understanding dogs on a primal basis, I have developed an unspoken language of understanding of the animal on both a bonding and a training level. Some of my services include the following: * Walking * Swimming * Dog psychology * Training of many varieties * Socialization * Trips to animal-friendly stores * Trips to the dog beaches and dog parks * Overnights and middle of the night check-ins * Transportation to and from appointments * CPR and First Aid * Nail trimming * Bathing * Anal glands * Extended stay and home boarding (on a case by case basis for my home) I care for any breed, any size, any age, any temperament, and any animal. I have over 15 years of experience. References are available upon request. I am happy to agree on set daily, weekly, and/or monthly rates. There's a free in-person consultation including estimate and assessments up to two hours in length. I am happy to agree on set per service, daily, weekly, or monthly rates. I do have several local references and a proven track record. I look forward to bringing out the best in your best friend!

Anne Baxter diagnosed my dog's problem and immediately started addressing it. The four weeks stay with her has made a very visible change in him. He's gone from his last chance to being a good dog. Now it's going to be up to me to maintain discipline and make sure I stay with the lessons that Anne is teaching me. I definitely recommend Anne and her staff if you have a dog that needs training. About

I give each dog and their family the personal attention they deserve. My training method is based on your dog's personality, behaviors, aptitude for learning, breed traits, social development and owner goals. My training style has evolved over the past decade. I use an adaptive combination of marker training, leash and collar, and in some circumstances, an e-collar. Overall, it's my goal to achieve your dog's best behavior in the most positive, effective and efficient way possible. Prior to the start of any training, I will evaluate your dog at no charge. This allows me to determine your dog's personality, aptitude for learning, social development, behavioral patterns and any problems. Armed with this information, I can recommend the best training approach with a curriculum designed around your dog and your goals. The evaluation is free of charge, and there is no obligation to sign up for training. Simply contact me to schedule an appointment. Together we can "Unleash Your Dog's Best Behavior!"

I have known Maggie Marshall for about 5 months now and i was impressed the first day she walked into our shop. She knew exactly what to do in situations involving our staff and the dogs. She constantly is adding items that our staff can do and works on ways we can educate and entertain the dogs in our custody. This lady really knows dogs and training!

I am training people from the dog's point of view. I offer in-home private dog training. I am a reward-based trainer, and I do not use any aversive technique. Behavior that is rewarded is much more likely to repeat itself. I teach and reward desired behaviors, as opposed to punishing undesired behaviors.
