Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I began teaching only a few years after beginning to study seriously myself, and through the past 30 years of teaching so many people of all ages and all levels, I've learned how to help students make the most of whatever practice time they put in. I can not only show you what I do, I can show you step by step how to develop the same abilities yourself. Even after all this time, I continue to learn and grow as a musician. I've never stopped being a student myself, so when you work with me, you work with someone who understands the process and how to develop as a musician.

I have been a rudimental drummer for 50 years and decided to learn to play the Djembe, a West African hand drum. A friend pointed me to Ken Anoff, a percussion teacher and an expert in playing everything from a drum kit to the Congas, the Bongos, the Djembe or the Cajon. Ken’s breadth of knowledge is unsurpassed. His calm manner and patience are all that one would expect from an excellent teacher. During the 18 months I have been a student of Ken’s, my technique and knowledge have grown exponentially. I am especially proud of having accomplished a very syncopated rhythm from India that Ken taught me in a private lesson. If you are a parent of a child interested in learning drums or you are an intermediate or advanced drummer wanting to expand your skills and breadth of knowledge, I strongly recommend Ken Anoff.

I highly recommend Ken Anoff; he is a brilliant instructor and musician. In addition to being professional and patient, he is passionate about his work and helping others uncover their gifts. His talents and abilities flow endlessly from a deep well of inspiration (of Divine influence), which is contagious! His style of teaching is open yet structured, flexible yet methodical, making learning easy, fun and enjoyable. “No man can reveal to you aught but that which already lies half asleep in the dawning of your knowledge. The teacher who walks in the shadow of the temple, among his followers, gives not of his wisdom but rather of his faith and his loving kindness…leads you to the threshold of your own mind.” Khalil Gibran Thank you Ken for your faith and loving-kindness. Many Blessings! Reggie Embracing Spirit

I am an advanced student of Ken. His expertise in different drumming styles and implementation of various techniques on the djembe is remarkable. One of his biggest strengths is his unmatched ability to convey simple and complex ideas to his students very effectively (students of every age group). I have had the opportunity to assist Ken in his recitals and drumming workshops which are great learning experiences. I would recommend Ken to anyone - a novice or a virtuoso.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Studying a musical instrument is rewarding and challenging. It is essential to find a teacher that you are comfortable with, and who knows how to show you the proper technique and approach. Teaching is a very different set of skills from actually playing the instrument, so make sure you find an instructor who knows how to break things down and help you understand exactly how to practice to achieve great results!
