We planned a 50th birthday celebration for my best friend in less than a month in Orlando for 18 people, all staying in the same Airbnb house. We had activities planned at different locations Friday night, Saturday morning, Saturday night and Sunday midday. We knew we needed food at the house in between Saturday morning and Saturday night activities. Chef Damion was recommended to us by Chef Keith in South Florida for his delicious Jamaican cookery, which was perfect because we all used to eat together at a Jamaican restaurant in Melbourne, FL, when we all lived there over 20 years. The delicious food brought back so many memories, not just from the stories of living together, but also of our taste buds because the atmosphere was nostalgic from those times and the times some of us vacationed in Jamaica. The oxtails were so tender they melted in your mouth; the fried sweet plantains were the perfect combination of a little crisp on the edges and soft throughout; and the steamed cabbage were seasoned just right plus the added touch of a pop of color from the sweet peas and carrots. We also had jerk chicken, not to spicy per my request, that literally fell off the bone when you touched it. We ate the whole meal with just a fork, no need for a knife. We hoped to have leftovers for late night / wee hours in the morning eating, but that was a no go because we ate it all! I highly, highly, highly recommend Spice House Catering and we will definitely use them next time we are in the area. And if I didn't say so earlier, the food was beyond delicious! We were very lucky to work with Corwin for our wedding. We had met with two caterers prior to meeting Corwin, but after our tasting and discovering how reasonable the pricing was, we couldn’t say no. His team was prompt, professional, and dynamic (my guests had very memorable experiences with his team that they were still raving about days later). Despite how busy Corwin’s business is, he always made time to answer my texts and calls, and customized my menu several times over the months leading up to the wedding as changes presented themselves. They prepared two beautiful plates for my husband and I following our ceremony so we could enjoy a private dinner before all the craziness started. And several random guests approached me on the dance floor letting me know we definitely didn’t waste money on the food :)
We hired Chef Katie to prepare 5 meals a week for our family right after we had our third baby. Chef Katie and I spoke prior to the baby arriving to discuss our families likes and dislikes and she devised a healthy and delicious weekly meal plan. My husband, who is my pickiest eater, loved the variety of meals. Chef Katie prepared seafood, Mexican, Asian and comfort foods. I loved that we were able to taper the meals to be healthy and nutritious for our children on top of being delicious and super easy to prepare. Most meals just needed to be heated or quickly cooked. Chef Katie went above and beyond cleaning up after cooking in our home. She was always on time, very sweet and kind when in our home. I would not hesitate to hire Chef Katie again and plan to in the future! She really did help me keep my sanity during those first weeks home with a newborn and twin toddlers. I am very grateful for her services & the time it gave me to spend with my family & our new baby.
I had the opportunity to have Ariel come back to my home in Maryland after relocating to Orlando and cook a dish for her mother and I. I could taste the love in the food that she prepared for us that Sunday evening. I never knew she was watching me cook as a child. Love Dad.,,
Breaking Bread with Mira provided dessert catering for a wine tasting event we had. She went above and beyond to pair the right desserts with the different wines we had. She even used the wine as an ingredient! Talk about custom! Plus everything was delicious and looked beautiful. We will definitely use her again!!
June 4, 2016 I was planning an anniversary party for 12, and a friend recommended Special Plate Catering and Sandy. It proved to be a great decision to hire her for the party. Sandy is a professional chef, had a background in menu planning and helped plan a great meal within our budget. It was a formal, sit down meal and Sandy and her staff served a plated meal, in courses. The Butternut squash soup was top restaurant quality, salad was so fresh and beautifully presented, but the beef tenderloin and wild mushroom sauce was the best beef we ever tasted. We chose to have a cheese course and fruit for dessert, on her suggestion, and our guests raved. I didn't have to worry about anything and Sandy and her staff left the kitchen very clean. Susan is a great chef, and great person all around! She took the time to make sure we got exactly what we wanted and had a preprinted menu with her to review on the first visit. She is responsive, prompt, flexible and plans everything in advance including preprinted reheating instructions- she knows exactly what she is doing. Most importantly, her food is spectacular! We even requested some of the same dishes because we were so impressed with the first batch! She also does a great job of balancing healthy and deliciousness- we definitely want seconds when Susan is cooking in our kitchen! The chicken is tender, the potatoes are cooked just right and even the salads have that special something that we can't get enough of. We can't wait to try more of her delicious food! We highly recommend Susan on every level.
I was lucky enough to host a cooking class/dinner party with Lindy recently. I had homemade unsweet chocolate from a farm in Ecuador, and Lindy taught me how to make it into an unbelievably delicious and intricate molè sauce, a recipe which she developed from her molè experiences traveling throughout Oaxaca. She has a wealth of food knowledge and experience from around the globe that she shares with great patience, generosity and some humor thrown in for spice. Lindy creates with diverse flavors in her palate and with local and healthy ingredients in the foreground. You will thank yourself for hiring her!
My girlfriend and I had Chef Lionel over to teach us how to cook. He was absolutely amazing! He arrived on time, was very patient, and helped to break down steps so we can both understand. The food turned out fabulous! We can't wait for our second class. :)
I regularly go to food truck events, and near my work they cycle through a variety of local food trucks for lunch. Having had most of the popular trucks as well as many of the lesser known ones, I can say with confidence that Louie's Bistro is the best. There are three main factors for my reasoning: 1) Quality. Louie takes pride in his truck. You can food is his passion and he doesn't want anyone to leave without a great meal. 2) Quantity. It's rare that a a service has both great quality and quantity. But the portions I get for the price are way better than any other truck in Orlando. The meals almost always come with sides like fries or rice. Most other trucks charge you extra. This is an incredible value. 3) Creativity. Louie constantly has "specials" outside of his regular menu. These keep me coming back and curious to see what he has next. He's had some of the most incredible duck confit, risotto, sriracha chicken, and you can't miss the filet mignon sandwich if it's there. He can cook any type of cuisine, including French, Cuban, Asian, Caribbean, etc. He knows how to bring the best flavors from these cuisines and integrate them into amazing tasting meals.
