I am a 2005 graduate of Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, AL. There I studied Music Education with a Concentration in Piano. I have been officially teaching piano in Orlando Florida since 2008. Prior to teaching I acted as my church's choir director and assisted in directing the music for their musical productions. In addition to teaching, I also enjoy acting as a piano accompanist. I continue and enjoy being available for Solo & Ensemble competitions each year as well as accompanying middle/high school choirs for concerts or rehearsals. Piano lessons will include basic to advance skills, music theory (which is the foundation to all music), technique, and ear training. As a member of my studio, you will also be able to participate in recitals throughout the year. It is a great way to show off your skill and enjoy music and performances from your peers.

  • Mr. Jeff's Music Academy

My name is Jeff Althouse, and I am the founder and owner of Mr. Jeff’s Music Academy. I have been teaching music privately and in group settings for over twenty years. I enjoy sharing my ideas on how to successfully master an instrument with all age groups. I believe that the education of the student is the first priority, not the retail environment or the sale. My staff and I offer instruction on all instruments. I offer 30-minute lessons which cost $22.00 per number of lessons in the month. Hence, if there are four lessons in a month, the fee is $88.00; if there are five in a month, the fee is $110.00. Books are not included. There is also a one time $25 registration fee. Payment for lessons is due in advance on the first lesson of each month for the following month. All fees paid are non-refundable. Though it is not recommended, single lessons may be booked at the rate of $20.00 per half hour. Weekly students have priority on available times. The time scheduled for each student’s lesson is reserved for his or her exclusive use; rescheduling is not guaranteed. Notification by the student of inability to attend a private lesson does not excuse payment for the lesson which must be paid for, whether taken or missed. Unavoidable absences will be made up when possible and if common courtesies of notification were followed. If the lesson is not made up in 30 days, the student will get 11$ credit on next months tuition.

I love teaching how to perform with different musical instruments. Music is a powerful language. I am very good in connecting with people, in this case students. I can help you learn to play guitar or piano quickly. It also depends on how much my students desire to learn how to play an instrument. Passion is an essential key.

    The Place for Music

    (12 reviews)

Hello! My name is Kevin, and I am looking forward to teaching you everything I know about music! I've been singing at Walt Disney World for over 22 years with the Voices of Liberty, the Dapper Dans of Main Street, and Four For A Dollar. I have a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Penn State University. Even more than singing, playing the guitar, arranging for a cappella, and playing piano, I love to teach! Ever since I was a sophomore in high school, I've wanted to be a teacher of music in various capacities. My favorite aspect of teaching several private students each week is that every individual student has a different story. What is it that you want to accomplish? Would you like to sing, play piano or play guitar? Would you like training in music theory? Do you want to eventually have a career in music? Will this be a hobby for you? Whatever your goals are, I am excited to know your story.

I enjoy teaching people of all musical backgrounds, whether it is the young grade school student just beginning their musical journey, middle and high school students who want to become stronger musicians for their own enjoyment or to audition for school musicals and other performances, or the adult who is learning for the first time or is picking it up again after many years away from it. I simply enjoy sharing the gift of music and helping others to discover it and express themselves through their music. As Hans Christian Andersen said, "Where words fail, music speaks."

Words cannot express the gratitude my family has for Miss Liana. She has taught someone in our family for the past 6 years or so. My daughters began taking from her first. My oldest daughter had done well in piano lessons with a previous teacher, but I knew that she wasn't learning correct technique or good sight-reading skills. That is when we switched to Liana. After watching how quickly my daughter progressed with her, I decided I would like to take piano lessons again. I had 10 years of lessons as a child, but I had so much more to learn! Liana very quickly saw where I needed help. She is direct about your skills or lack of skills. However, she knows exactly what she is doing and HOW to help! She can be in the next room getting her tea, and somehow she knows whether I am using the right fingering, or which note I missed. Not only that, she is very encouraging. She is quick to praise you for trying or finally "getting" something. Many times, one passage of notes can seem insurmountable to me. Liana will watch me try, then often it is just a small suggestion she makes that does the trick. She is very attentive to details and her love of music is contagious. She has become more than a teacher to me and to my daughter. We truly love and adore her. If you are looking for an excellent teacher, classically trained, who thoroughly knows the piano and how to teach it, please call Liana. You will see your student or yourself grow in so many areas of music. Oh, and that oldest daughter of mine is an accomplished pianist now, studying piano performance at Samford University. So far, she has received all As for her piano performance grade during both semesters. She was also awarded a scholarship for her talent. Though my daughter worked hard, it would not have been possible without Liana!!

I am an 80 year male, live with my wife. I took lessons at Professor Messers for several years but must start over again. I have a casio keyboard in my study with my computers and exercise equipment. I decided to take piano lessons because it is therapeutical for my hands and fingers. I am not musical but I read music (some) and have studied music history. My wife's children (by a previous marriage) were musicians. I am a retired history professor and I write and edit history books. I do not expect to develop much in musical technique; what I am looking for is the discipline regular practice will promote.

I'm training as a flight student in Daytona 7 days a week. This is something I've always wanted to do (learn piano). I do not own a piano, but I could buy a keyboard to practice on at home. I am wanting to start something new and this is something I've always wanted to do, to get better at. I started when I was younger and dropped it and have always regretted it. Thank you.
