FAQs
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
Our first few lessons will consist of learning basic instrument parts, posture, and stance, as well as the bow and its proper hold. Also during this time, we will examine note placements of the different strings and note lengths. Over the next few months, the student will learn to play nursery rhyme classics and beginner performance pieces, leading to advanced material and confidence to play in front of an audience.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I have been playing the violin since I was about 4 years of age, and have been teaching since I was in high school. I have attended a local School of the Arts, and am continuing my education in my profession.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
My whole family is in the classical music industry, and I was exposed to professional musicians, teachers, and performances from a very young age. My love for playing the violin developed after mother's zeal for teaching, and my father's pursuit of depth and passion in his violin making. My brother and I learned to appreciate our God-given musical talent and I chose to pursue teaching as my career. Today, I work at several music schools, and run a private music studio during the day. It is a joy to see each student bloom into their unique talents with each lesson.
