Working with john was a great experience. He is punctual, professional and most importantly skillful. He wants to show case your brand better than ever. He also put in extra work for us because he knows we are a start up. He was willing to take the time, bring his team and get some video and audio to do a voice over for our event last night.

I've used Ivan multiple times for all kinds of shoots, he surprises me every time there is nothing that he can't do. I always know I have someone to count on and call when I need help and it doesnt matter if its a small or huge production. He has his own equipment everything from Pro cameras / audio / lighting / steady cams / drones etc. Here are some behind the scene pictures of Ivan in one of my shoots.

I strongly recommend Heiga Audio Visual for a professional and inspired creative experience. We worked with Heiga Audio Visual on our latest EP project. As an artist based in the Washington, D.C. area, I made a trip down to Miami specifically to work with Heiga hoping to take our sound to the next level and we were more than impressed by the team’s level of professionalism and the creative insight they brought to our project. During a marathon recording session, we managed to record a high quality 5 song EP (hip-hop genre) in less than 12 hours. At the outset of the session, Adrian (the engineer) efficiently arranged our production and prepared the tracks so that I could move seamlessly though the recording of the songs without wasting much time. During the recording of the songs, the Heiga team quickly picked up on my vision for each individual song and was able to provide insightful suggestions that added to the finished recordings significantly. Most importantly, they know how to present helpful suggestion to elevate your music without being overbearing and they know when to back off and allow the artist’s magic moment to develop. We moved so efficiently throughout the process that I ended up with extra time that we were able to conveniently use to shoot an in-studio video and conduct an impromptu photo shoot (that will produce the cover image for the EP). All of this was thanks to the Heiga team and their connections. We have already started to get the final mixes in from the recording session and the sound is certainly equivalent to or exceeding the powerful yet crisp mixes that you would hear on your typical Urban format commercial radio station. Adrian mixed the music and our vocals with the care and attention you would expect from the most notable mix engineers in the business such as: Young Guru, Manny Marroquin and Marcella Araica. The studio has a fantastic laid back atmosphere that radiates with good energy, allowing the artists and musicians to stay comfortable and focused. Also, if that’s not enough, just tack a quick trip to the beach to get your mind right! Needless to say, we are immensely pleased with our experience working with Hegia and we strongly recommend them to any artists, band or musician that is seeking to work with a team that has the know-how to help the artists explore the heights of their capability and reflect that magic onto the record! Bitton Events put together our entire production with audio, video, projection, and lighting at our 5K charity fundraiser. With 7 different speakers and over 1,200 participants, it was one of our largest productions and they handled everything without any errors. Looking forward to raising even more money at next year's event.

I needed a promotional business video shot and edited in a short span of time and Eric Fuhrmann of SURMOPRO not only got it done efficiently with new, state of the art equipment, but my video turned out like a work of art! And for the background, he even produced original music design! My colleagues and clients were completely impressed and I know it helped me close a number of deals. I can't say enough about Mr. Fuhrmann's talent, professionalism and his all around film making skills. Cynthia H. Carter

I have used Doug Tessler's services on many occasions and wanted to take this opportunity to let the South Florida community know just how talented this gentleman really is. He was hired on 4 or 5 occasions and each time we meet he just amazes me. On one occasion he assisted my company in recording an audio feed for a promotion which resulted in increased sales for us and assisted in acquiring many new clients. On at least 2 other occasions he was hired as a musician at some events which we sponsored. His musical talents and love of music overall just shined and people were talking for days at just how wonderful his performances were. Doug, aside from being multi talented, is an exceptional individual who is kind, always willing to help others and who is a genuinely good person. What really blew me away was when I had issues with my Macbook Pro. When Doug heard that I was on the way to the Apple store his reply was "I am a certified Apple Tech, why wait in line for hours". Once again, Doug Tessler to the rescue. Within an hour my Apple system was like new again. Is there anything that this man cannot do? He saved me the better part of half a day standing in the Apple Store. South Florida....you need to call Doug Tessler. You will not be disappointed.

My background: In 1969 I was in twelfth grade. I was George Benson's Bass player. I designed and built special effects pedals for guitar and bass, which later became famous with brands like: Dod, Boss and Vox. 1970 to 1975 I booked @ 30 of the most famous Rock Bands including: Yes, Steve Miller, James Taylor, Mama Cass, Chicago, Steppenwolf and others. In 1978 I spent $50,000 to buy the finest stereo equipment on the market, (you could buy a nice house for $50k in 1978.) I had Mark Levinson amps and Dayton Wright Electrostatic speakers. I got know Mark and Mike Wright personally. In the 1978 to 1986, I got to know and work with a few of the finest Recording Studio engineers in the World. In 1985 Mark Levinson hired me to sell his new $1 Million "Cello System". He was forced to sell the "Mark Levinson" name to Madrial by his shareholders (which later sold the name to Harmon Kardon). So Mark started "Cello", which made the "Audio Palate" (a $250,000 equalizer). $250,000 for the pre and power amps. And $250,000 for the speakers. The whole system was $1Million. He sold less than 10 systems World wide. I tried selling them to recording studios, but I didn't sell one. lol So producing the absolute finest sound has been in my blood for 50 years. My ears are extensively trained and experienced. So are my taste buds. I started making wine with my grandparents 54 years ago in 1962. I started brewing beer in 1970. I studying Cognac making in France in 1998 with three 95 year old "Master Distillers. I am producing an educational TV show about wine. I am producing a feature film about a sailboat that I won over 100 sailboat races on. My resume is available upon request.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
