Introduction: Hi, my name is Nina and I am the founder of the Nina Kassis Vocal Technique Studio, and co founder of the Manhattan Opera Studio. I have been teaching voice since 2013 and am passionate about bringing out the best in each singer. In addition to teaching, I have produced several operas with the Manhattan Opera Studio, working with singers, instrumentalists and stage directors. My educational background is focused in vocal performance, gaining a Bachelors degree from the Manhattan School of Music and a Master's degree from Hunter College. As a young singer my main aspiration was to learn the proper diaphragmatic support and vocal projection through the bel canto technique which I studied extensively in both the United States and in Italy with Mirella Freni at the Centro Universale del Belcanto. Moreover, I have performed in Operas, Musical theater productions and jazz bands. As a versatile performer, my experience has led me to teach singers of all genres and levels and adapt my methods to each singer's needs. I believe that the key to vocal success is to properly engage diaphragmatic support and find the correct vocal projection, which are things I focus on extensively in my classes. Nina is an amazing teacher. I have been working with her remotely for the past year and she has really helped me improve my diaphragmatic support and vocal projection. She is kind and patient and really takes her time to make sure I understand all the concepts. I currently am working on Operatic repertoire right now but I am happy that I can apply the vocal concepts to other genres such as jazz and soul. I highly recommend her.

I have been working remotely with Nina for the last couple years on Musical Theater. She is extremely knowledgeable and patient and has really helped me reach my high notes. Nina has helped me immensely to expand my voice. Before I came to her I was really struggling with my breath support. This was especially true when trying to reach my high notes. She has helped me open up the top and has so much knowledge on how to project the voice better. I came in wanting to sing Musical Theater and had a little bit of classical training. We can now work comfortably on both genres and I feel very confident for my upcoming auditions for college Voice Programs. Nina is a great teacher of technique. She really knows how to show you the proper breath support and how to have a supported sound. I work on rock and pop with her and she has given me the confidence I never had before. I can now sing comfortably with my band for more than 2 hours at a time and I don't get fatigued. She's patient and knowledgeable and works with you to get the best results. I definitely recommend working with her.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
First lesson is a free 15 minute consultation. Pricing : $60 an hour. Special offer for bundle lessons: book 5 lessons and get the fifth lesson half off.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
I hold a Masters Degree in Vocal Performance from Hunter College and attended Manhattan School of Music, the National Conservatory of Greece, and The American College of Greece, where I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Musicology. I have studied at the prestigious Centro Universale del Bel Canto in Italy and Mozarteum University in Salzburg. In addition, I have participated in many masterclasses and concerts throughout Europe and the U.S., and have worked with teachers such as Mirella Freni , and Marjana Lipovsek, Mark Oswald and Mignon Dunn.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I have been involved in the musical field from the age of six studying violin and piano at the Peabody Conservatory but I always knew singing was my passion. I went on to study vocal performance and realized that in addition to performing, I am passionate about sharing my knowledge with others on the fundamentals of vocal technique and this is why I founded my own teaching studio.
