Stephen is an absolute stand up guy and stands behind his work. I hired him for one carpentry project, and he continues to impress me time after time. From the craftsmanship and quality of his work, to being dependable on time frames and budget of the project Stephen is on point every time. He is an incredibly trustworthy guy whom I trust working inside my home while I am at work, and also trust with my personal credit card. I give him access to this all the time and he is spot on with all receipts and accounting information. He does an amazing job and stands behind his work. If anyone has any questions feel free to ask me and I will personally vouch for him. -Alex

1000% CONTENT! I am so happy I found Pete and his team. Sincere, Genuine and honest. You can tell he is very knowledgeable and experienced. He is happy when you are happy and will not just do a job until you are. Includes you in the process to ensure you understand what is being done and welcomes your feedback and ideas as well. He removed a Master Bathroom I had from the 70s and installed a new one I had bought. The vanity itself was not big enough to fit in the space and I really needed someone who could also give me options in such a case. Well he did and built some great shelves which made the vanity a perfect fit. I am so happy with my new bathroom and have so many other upgrades I plan to do to my home. Great to know I no longer have to look for someone, as Pete is my new go to person for any home upgrades and repairs and will refer him to everyone I know. THANK YOU PETE!!!!

Angel and his wife were amazing. Angelbis a true professional who takes great pride in his work. The flooring job he did was so beautiful. There was a slight issue I wanted to be looked at and he was very responsive and informative in educating me to the care and maintenance required. I would recommend Piloto Finishing Carpentry to anyone who wants a reliable, responsible, and talented carpenter

I am remodeling my master bedroom. Juan Carlos and his partner, Carlos completed the job with all my requirements and requests. They removed an entire mirrored wall, removed a wall to wall soffit, moved outlets, moved can lights, created a large black frame around my closet doors and sliding doors, painted one wall gray and the other walls and ceilings white. They were professional, courteous, very committed to doing a first class job. That also included questions about the dimensions of the headboard ( ordered, but not here yet), and night stands so he could position the lights correctly. They were always on time, worked all day and finished the job exactly on time. I plan on having them do additional remodeling in my home. So glad I used Thimbtack and Five Star Finishes.

I cannot say enough about Moses, if I could give them 10 stars I would. Contracted with Karma to redo the master bath. Quality of the work exceeded my expectations, showed up on time, and left the bathroom cleaner than what it was. Professional, hard working and the price quoted was the price, no games. Job was done on time. Lastly, I will never use any other company, they are truly the best!!

All in 1 Handyman Services was hired to remove wallpaper and paint a master bathroom along with several other repair in a rental property. We reside in Wichita, KS. They were professional and gave a detailed quote which rewarded them the job. Karen did an excellent job communicating with us on the project including pictures. We did run into an unforeseen issue which did set us back while we dealt with how to proceed. Ultimately I was thankful that Robert had the expertise to repair the issue. They did come to the house at 9pm and worked late so if you are looking for traditional 9 to 5 hours you will need to communicate this. I appreciated their hard work to ensure that my tenants could move in on time. I would recommend them and use them again.

I worked with Ariel and his team at Full Service Corp for a master bedroom/master bath addition at my house. He also remodeled the kitchen and dining room area. I cannot say enough good things about the entire experience. From the first day to the last, Ariel's communication, reliability and professionalism was an A+. He went above and beyond to bring us design ideas to better utilize our space and make our home beautiful. This was not an easy job and there were a lot of challenges that he helped us though. I am very appreciative for all his hard work to make it happen. My family and I are very happy in our "new" home.

Richard is one of the most professional finish carpenters I ever had the pleasure of working with. We told him our ideas and he had a drawing in a few days of exactly what we wanted and then he went to work. I am still amazed with what he has created for us which by the way was a huge wall unit with lights, stereo, glass shelves and television insert. People who come to the house are amazed at what he did for us. We give him an A+++++++. He gets our 100% approval rating. Don't pass this guy up or you will regret it.

We had a great experience working with JCS construction. They were professional and easy to work, not something I would expect for a construction job! We used them on several projects after our flooring was damaged from hurricane Irma. They installed our Bona hard wood laminate (our home was half carpeted and half tile) and a replaced our base boards. We also renovated our master bathroom by updating our shower, removing the dated tub and replacing the vanity to an upgraded double sink vanity. It was a fun project to work on, I was able to choose the flooring, hardware and details in the bathroom to my exact specifications, and when something would not work, Jonathan was open about alternatives. My family and I are very pleased with the outcome. JCS construction comes highly recommended.

Brandon responded quickly to my post and was able to perform same day service. He removed two bathroom vanities; a master and guest. He was helpful in moving some furniture in preparation for some upcoming flooring improvements. He was open for anything I needed done that hadn't included in my original request. I look forward to partnering with him for future handyman needs!

John performed a complete remodeling of our master bath in which he took in an adjoining closet into the existing bathroom roughly doubling the size of the bathroom. This involved relocation of the toilet waste line, installation of lines for a double sink and relocation of the shower pan drain. The bathroom walls and ceiling were down to the studs and joists. John offered great ideas in terms of the redesign and the work was performed to the highest standards. John was on site every day and the work was performed on schedule and on budget. We are extremely happy with the job and the end product. John's attention to detail and satisfying the customer is excellent. We would recommend John McFarland without hesitation.

I can highly recommend Mr. Sampaio of Euro Homes Solutions. His work and standards are exemplary. When I was selling my house, he worked on some renovations in preparation for the sale. Mr. Sampaio worked within my budget and even worked on a Sunday to install a new granite counter top and two sinks in the master bath. He was cheerful, enthusiastic, and had great ideas to improve the house at a reasonable cost. When I ran into an unexpected plumbing issue, Mr. Sampaio came over immediately. He knew who to call, what needed to be done, and had the damage repaired in no time. I would like to add that his crew was terrific too. They were polite, unobtrusive, and incredibly neat. I would not hesitate to hire Mr. Sampaio again.

In general, major upgrades, such as a bathroom remodel or a family-room addition, run $100 to $200 per square foot. 2. We find out how much you have to spend. Once we've zeroed in on a project, the next question is whether you have the money. If you're paying cash, that's easy to answer. But if you're borrowing, you need to assess how much a bank will lend you and what that loan will add to your monthly expenses. 3. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who is a carpenter and what do they do?

Carpenters are skilled craftsmen who build things out of wood. Depending on what the carpenter builds, they may be referred to by various names. A framer is a carpenter who puts up the framing on a house. A trim or finish carpenter installs the finishing touches of prefabricated or custom trim and detail work once a house has been built and the walls are up. A furniture maker or woodworker builds furniture — such as tables, beds and dressers — out of wood. A cabinetmaker is a carpenter who builds custom and semi-custom wood cabinets. If you’re having a home built or remodeled, your general contractor will either provide or subcontract the carpentry work for the framing, cabinets and trim. You can hire a carpenter directly to update the trim in your home, build you a piece of custom furniture, or repair or replace your wood cabinets.

    Do carpenters build houses?

Carpenters are trained to work with wood. That means that any part of your home that is built of wood is very likely to involve a carpenter. Framing carpenters will put up the wood that makes up the bones of your home. If you’re having a wood floor installed, it may be done by a carpenter — although being a carpenter is not a requirement to install flooring. Trim, baseboards, wainscoting and any other detail work is typically installed by a finish carpenter. The wood boxes of custom cabinets will be built and installed by a carpenter.

Although all of these components in your new or remodeled home are built by carpenters who specialize in building things with wood, a general contractor typically oversees construction of the entire house. If the general contractor is also a carpenter skilled in all these areas, they may well construct your entire home. More often, the general contractor subcontracts out the various building stages to different individuals, including carpenters.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
