Arrived as expected. Crew was great, friendly, and customer oriented. My palm trees are tall 25' + so were pretty tough for these guys to do but they got the job done. I'm sure given shorter trees I'd have given 5 stars.

Same day response, quote and job completion. Great price! Had a Royal Palm Tree removed. I was very nervous about having this Royal Palm tree removed because it was so big and so closed to my home. They did a very good job at removing it. Made me feel comfortable about the job. They worked fast, efficient; handled with care and cleaned up after they were done. They were very Professional. Will use them again. It was a pleasure to meet you. Thank you Frank and crew!

My husband and I are so happy we found David. He is very professional and polite. We especially appreciate how responsive he is by text, phone and email. David and his team did the work quickly and efficiently. We hired David to do the front and back of our house (palms, ligustrum tree, beautiful bougainvilleas, green island shrubs, orchids, and river rocks). The results are absolutely amazing and now we feel happy and proud everytime we go in and out of our house. Thank you, David and team!!! We look forward to a long relationship as our trees and flowers grow!

I use sunshine lawn beauty for tree trimming coconuts off a tall tree, that I was not comfortable doing. Jonathan called and gave me a quote and showed up promptly. The job was done in a timely fashion, and he went above and beyond what I had expected. His rates are very reasonable. I would definitely recommend him to family and friends.

Did an amazing job. Everyone else just wanted to remove the coconuts...for more money. Diego can and removed the coconuts, palm fronds, and seed pods. If you want the job done right, use EcoParadise.

Jose is a very nice guy, was on time every time he came. He worked around my busy schedule. When he was at the nurcery getting me trees and palms he sent me pictures to make sure I am happy with what I will have. He planted the palms, trees and trimmed my grass, which was a mess!!!! Over all I am very happy with the job he has done, he is affordable. Now he will be coming every month to maintain my backyard.

I inquired about getting some palm trees and aloe cactus trimmed down. YJ Pro Wash responded quickly and came out the same day to give us an estimate on the work we needed done. After getting other estimates, YJ Pro Wash was the most fair priced so we hired them. They came te very next day, very promptly and began the job. They finished quickly and did a fantastic job. I would hire them again!

Laurie did an excellent job designing and re-landscaping our front yard where two diseased palm trees and surrounding bushes were removed. She is very professional, punctual, and flexible with give-and-take design ideas. She paid attention to the details! The end result is a colorful display that has triggered several compliments from passersby on our "high visibility" street corner. Would highly recommend her services.

I has some minor landscaping completed that included replanting a few areas, a newly landscaped area by the back patio, removal of one palm tree and trimming of a large maple tree. My contact was Sal. He was very professional and courteous each time I met with him. The work started immediately and I am very pleased with the service that was provided. Everything looks wonderful. I recommend them without hesitation and will call on them again for future landscaping needs.

Tony contacted me right away and provided a reasonable estimate to trim my tree. He arrived promptly at the scheduled time and did the work we agreed on. My tree is a very large black olive and he trimmed the tree and thinned out the inside of the tree beautifully. He does great work, I highly recommend him,

I recently contracted Alison from Urban Forester Tree Service to trim back two Oaks, trim three Palm trees, and remove a medium sized ficus tree. I have to say I was very impressed with the overall job. The trees were nicely trimmed, and not "hacked up" like others have done in the past. The price was good and me and my wife could not be more happy with how our trees look now! I will definitely be using Urban Forester again, and am recommending them to all of our friends!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to remove a tree stump?

Once you have a tree cut down, you’ll probably want to remove the tree stump as well. You may want the stump removed for aesthetics, the tree stump could be diseased, you might want to prevent regrowth, or you may find the roots are causing problems and need to be removed. Tree removal costs don’t always include the cost to grind out or dig out a tree stump after the tree has been felled and the trunk removed. The national average cost for stump removal ranges from $150 to $200. There are two main methods for dealing with tree stumps. In grinding, pros use a chipping machine to grind away the above-level tree stump until it sits just below the soil surface. Tree stump removal entails lifting the entire root ball of a tree out of the soil. Removing the stump will leave a hole in the ground and also take more time, labor and money than stump grinding. Here are some examples of average tree stump removal costs:

    • Stump grinding: $2-$4 per inch.
    • Tree stump removal: average of $60-$350.

The final price will depend on the stump’s size, condition, location and condition of the soil around it.

How much does it cost to cut down a massive tree?

If you have to remove a big, beautiful tree from your property, you’ll definitely need an arborist. Cutting down a massive tree without the proper tools or training can lead to major property damage or injury. A huge tree may need to be removed if it is diseased or dying and poses a safety risk, has suffered a blow from a storm and isn’t safe, or is growing into your home, your home’s foundation, your septic system, or your power lines. Removal costs for such large trees will depend on the tree’s height, diameter, and relative safety and accessibility, as well as whether you also need the felled tree and stump removed. The bare minimum for removal of a tree over 75 or 80 feet would be $1,000. This may not include tree quartering and removal or stump grinding. Stump grinding ranges on average from $2 to $4 per inch of the stump’s diameter. There is no set price as each situation is unique, so it’s always best to have an arborist give you a quote and detail exactly which services are included in the price.

How much does it cost to trim a tree?

The national price range for tree trimming is $270-$450. Tree trimming is often done by a professional arborist who is trained to safely trim and prune trees for both the health of the tree and the safety of the residents and their property. Trying to do your own tree trimming is not advisable unless you have the proper know-how. Tree trimming companies may charge an hourly rate for their services. The hourly rate may be higher or lower for different trees to reflect the relative safety measures, skill, equipment or people power needed to handle the job. For this reason, most tree services provide free estimates.

One example of an hourly rate for professional tree trimming services is $150 per hour. Costs may be under $100 or could be higher than $300 per hour, depending on variables such as proximity to buildings, health of the tree, height and diameter of the tree, and type of tree trimming desired. Geography and regional cost of living and regional costs to do business will also play a role in your tree removal costs.

How much does it cost to cut a tree down?

When you’re ready to have a tree on your property come down, it’s time to call an arborist. The national average price range for tree-trimming costs is $270-$450. Tree removal costs can vary based on the height, diameter, location and health of the tree, and on whether you want to remove the stump. Height plays a major role in tree removal costs. Small trees, no more than 30 feet tall, are usually thinner in diameter and easier and safer for an arborist to manage. Removal of a small tree can cost anywhere from under $150 to over $450. Removal of medium-height trees, from 30 feet to 60 feet tall, could cost anywhere between $150 and $850 or more. Tall trees, typically 60 feet to 80 feet tall, may start at $500 or cost more than $1,000 to cut down. As the height and diameter increase, so does the cost.

Location is critical, too. Removing a tree in an open space is quicker and presents fewer obstacles than removing a tree that is growing flush to your house. Arborists can assess your tree and provide you with quotes based on the variables involved. For example, removing a medium-size hackberry tree that was growing too close to a home — the roots were damaging the home’s foundation — cost $1,500. This price included rope-down, house protection, tree quartering and stacking, and stump removal.

How much does it cost to remove a fallen tree?

If you need to have a tree cut down, have you planned what will happen next? Arborists often charge an additional fee to quarter and remove the fallen tree from your property, so anticipate this as part of your tree removal costs. You can elect to have the wood cut for use in your fireplace, or you may prefer to have it hauled away completely.

Tree removal costs may vary based on the height and the width of the felled tree. Size affects the labor required for removal, which will be reflected in the cost. For example, a tree service company may charge an additional $100-$120 to haul away the pieces of a felled tree. The service may cost as little as $75 in some regions and more than $150 in others. Regional labor rates, the cost of living and the cost to do business in your area will be reflected in your tree removal cost.
