I hired Dave to introduce my 7-yr old daughter to the piano. In just a short time of weekly classes, Dave taught her to become more comfortable reading & playing rhythms. He taught her how to read notes on the stave and helped develop her musicality at the keyboard.
As a Longy School of Music alumn, he is likely overqualified to teach a young student, but I feel anyone would be hard-pressed to find a more patient teacher! (And we needed just that). Dave is a true pro! He’s extremely respectful, professional, reliable and trustworthy. When hiring someone for in-home work, I feel like these are often as important or even more so than somebody’s skill set. I had the pleasure of studying music with David 10 years ago. He's a gifted and dedicated musician with a lot of heart and patience. Without him, I would not have progressed so much with piano. He has a way of explaining everything from music theory to musical technique and beyond. I highly recommend him as a piano teacher and a generally exceptional person to be around!

Mr. Negrete’s approach was very practical. He tied the technique along with the musicality of phrases all into one, to help me practice more efficiently.
As a singer himself, he pushed me to find the lyrical phrasing in pieces, which made it that more exciting to practice. He would often accompany me by singing and would help draw out my musicality, otherwise I’d be playing it like an etude. Such tremendous help!
Overall, I learned a tremendous amount under his pedagogical approach. Very thankful to have been taught by him. -J

David Esteban was my first piano teacher, and every teacher since him has said that my foundation was wonderful thanks to him. He cares so much-about you, the music, and your connection to the music. He is extremely patient and has a wonderful way of explaining things that might not make sense at first. He is attentive to detail, articulate, yet relaxed at the same time. I teach piano myself now, but would still love to take lessons from David Esteban if I had the chance to.
