I've been working as an audio engineer for corporate events, large and small, for many years. As a degreed musician with professional touring & performing experience, I speak fluent "musician," and I can relate to the needs of musicians in a way that nonmusicians can't when I mix bands for live entertainment. My rates are significantly lower than the in-house providers in the area convention hotels.
I enjoy the process of being the technical point person for helping presenters be clearly understood, and faithfully reproducing the unique sounds and blends of musicians.
Communication prior to the event is vital. I begin programming my mixing board well in advance to save valuable time during load-in and setup. If live entertainment is involved, I need to know things such as how many band members, what instruments, how many vocalists (male & female), etc. Then we'll discuss the electrical power requirements of my system.
