If you're dealing with a pest control issue in your home Adam from Organix is the best most affordable option! I needed him out to us immediately and he fit us right into his schedule the very same day we called. He has several different payment options, he was so friendly and knowledgable, he took care of the issue the very first time, and I legit would never use anyone else! If you have used someone else...scratch them and try Adam at Organix!

Very happy with Brian's services. He helped me get rid of termites in 2014, and rats in attic just recently in 2015. He is hard working, dedicated to the job, trust worthy, his services are very reasonable priced, much lower compared to all the big pest control charge for much less service. I am one of his happy customers and I highly recommend Brian MacIntosh to all in need of any kind of pest control services! Best Regards, Gabriella

My management company uses Pest Pro for all our pest control needs. One of our highrises had a massive pigeon problem - within weeks of his treatment - our balconies are pigeon free - no feathers, no mess. The entire building is ready to give him a medal. Another customer when a tenant moved out had an infestation of roaches. I called him and he set the appointment less than 24 hours later and he arrived on time, treated the property and advised that if we saw any more after 3 days he would come back free of charge. I can go on and on - regarding rat's that had been a problem in another oceanfront building- he told us what to do to prevent them from getting in- he solved that problem. He and his team are amazing and friendly and arrive ON TIME. They are also very reasonable and stand by their work. PEST PRO makes part of my crazy property management life much easier. Thank you PEST PRO.

Having to deal with several pest control companies in the past. I can not express how disappointed most of them are. The tell you everything you want to hear, delivery very little and cut you short with half fast service. I was very pleased to have found All Florida Pest control. They took their time from the initial inspection. They answer all my questions accordingly and was very fair in their pricing. Start up service went smoothly. I am very impressed with their knowledge in pest control and the extra length they go to make sure the customer get what they are paying for. I will most definitely recommend them to all my customers, friends and family. Lee Ann K. Wellington, Fl

I have been in the real estate industry for 17 years as a real estate agent and real estate investor. I have finally found the right company for Pest Control. Ryan has provided the best service I've ever received regarding Pest Control. Other companies have fallen short many times. He actually takes the time through the home. Other companies just come in the gome for two seconds. He actually is very professional and has passion for what he does. I recommend him to everyone and will use him for all my properties.

I posted and had a response with a 10am appointment almost immediately. The pest control product is safe for humans and dogs to remain in the home during treatment. I’ve noticed many dead ants (yay!) and time will tell how effective the outdoor treatment is. I found a few cockroaches which prompted me to hire an exterminator. I haven’t seen any in the house since treatment 2 days ago. They guarantee to come back if needed for no charge in the first weeks and that gives me peace of mind.

Within 24 hours I was put in touch with a highly knowledgeable and professional from Pest Doctor Inc that explained and addressed my home's ticks & fleas issue along with the solution. They truly did a great job to eliminate the pests in my home and was relieved to know I didn't have to spend so much money on such treatment. I def wouldn't hesitate to contact Pest Doctor in the future!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How do you get bed bugs and how do you get rid of them?

The increase in bed bug infestations in the U.S. is a result of increased travel, lack of knowledge about preventing infestations, increased resistance of bed bugs to pesticides, and ineffective pest control practices, explains the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). It’s easy to mistake bed bugs for carpet beetles or similar-looking bugs, so infestations are often not noticed when they first occur. Prevention tips include keeping areas free of clutter, regularly washing sheets and mattress covers in hot water (and don’t forget to wash the laundry bag, too), and vacuuming regularly and safely disposing of the sealed vacuum bag. Not everyone has reactions to bed bug bites, which also may be mistaken for the bites of other pests such as mosquitoes, so timely bed bug extermination depends on identification of bed bug activity. If you notice physical signs of an infestation, contact a bed bug extermination professional as soon as possible to learn about chemical and non-chemical (such as heat) treatment options. An integrated pest management plan may incorporate one or more methods.

How do you get rid of termites?

The best way to get rid of termites is to act fast. Termites are a problem that will only get worse — and no matter how much you want them to, they usually don’t magically move out on their own. There are three main types of termites: drywood, dampwood and subterranean. Drywood and dampwood termites sneak through cracks in your exterior paint, nail holes, and gaps near windows and other openings and begin to eat through your wood. Subterranean termites enter your house from the ground up by creating mud tunnels. In all cases, they survive by eating the wood of your house. The type of termites you have can steer the treatment plan.

Methods of termite extermination include fumigation, use of pesticides, and use of natural elements that are poisonous to the bugs. The extent of your termite infestation will help determine the treatment method. If you have drywood or dampwood termites that have infiltrated all aspects of the wood in your home, the pest control pro may recommend enclosing the whole house in a tent and gassing the termites via fumigation. If you have subterranean termites, often the entire footprint of the home must be treated by drilling liquid treatments into the slab or foundation of the home to exterminate the colonies. In any case, once you see signs of termites, it’s time to take action and call a pest pro.

What are the signs of termites in your home?

When you see signs of termites in your home, call a trusted pest control professional as soon as possible to handle the situation. Termites feed on wood, meaning they eat through the wood that makes up the frame, floors and other components of your house. Most people don’t know they have termites until they discover the damage done, because termites remain hidden underground or inside the wood they are eating. Keep on the lookout for these signs of termites:

  • Water bubbles in your interior or exterior paint: If you poke at what look like paint bubbles and find termite droppings inside, it’s a sign of termite infestation.
  • Frass: This is a fancy term for termite poop. Keep your eyes peeled for what look like six-sided salt and pepper droppings.
  • Mud tubes: Subterranean termites move between their earth home and your house by building mud tunnels. Mud tubes under or along the side of your house or foundation are a sure sign of a termite infestation.
  • Wings or swarming near your home: As a new colony is looking for a home, they fly (swarm), then shed their wings and burrow into nearby wood.
  • Softening of wood or hollowed-out wood: Termites don’t like paint, lacquer varnish or other wood finishes, so they’ll eat inside the wood and leave the exterior finish like a shell.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

  • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
    • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
  • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.
