Introduction: I bring out the best in each writer and can edit without interfering with "your voice." I am thorough and work very fast. In my first semester internship as an editor, I edited 49,000 words (approximately 1000 words per hour). This is full LINE-editing (heavy and light). In my 2nd semester internship, I edited 28,000 words at the same rate (about 1000/hour). I will be honest with you about your content, your tone, and your conventions (grammar/punctuation/spelling). Don't publish anything without running it by me first! Helping the writer find their own best writing is my goal. I like to edit YOUR words and ideas adding clarity and maybe upping your game a little bit! Yes, I will give you some of my thoughts, but ultimately, it's your work. If you want me to do a full rewrite, I can do that.

No, jobs are hourly or per word. Each project is priced individually; my goal is to do the job quickly for the client to get the work back fast.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Certificate in Publishing and Editing from Florida State University. This is a post- Master's program and was 12 hours (college credit hours) in addition to my master's degree (equivalent to "half" a master's degree).
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I am a teacher and decided to get a Certificate in Publishing and Editing from Florida State University. I am going to freelance until I decide whether to leave teaching to become a full time editor. At this point, I enjoy my students so much, I can't imagine doing anything else!
