MMM Flooring is the best - I would definitely recommend (and use again) for any flooring or tile project (big or small). I hired Marcos Alves based on a recommendation from another customer. He was quick to respond to my request for a bid and his price was incredibly competitive - while still maintaining the highest level of quality. Because I was still residing in TX during the install, it was important I hired someone who was responsive & someone I could trust. Marcos Alves is both. He responded very quickly to all of my texts, phone calls and emails. I entrusted him with the keys to my home and he insured it was always secure at the end of the day. He was willing to go out of his way to pick up extra materials that were needed and maintain the receipts for me to pay later. Thus was so helpful as I was not residing in Naples, FL yet. His payment schedule is reasonable and fair. He stands behind his work - which is impeccable. I was so impressed with the quality of his work I hired him to remodel my entire master bathroom which included a shower and bathtub area. I hired him to do the remodel without getting his bid or getting a second estimate because I was that confident in the price he would quote and the quality of the work he would do- and I was not disappointed with either! He was able to handle the plumbing needs as well as install a light above the shower. He also has great ideas & suggestions as to where to purchase various materials. I also needed beadboard be put in the bathrooms and again his skill at woodworking was amazing - he is so multi-talented. He completed the 2400 sq ft of wood like tile floor installation in schedule and to perfection. He even made sure the closets were trimmed out with quarter round to give everything a very finished look. Many of my neighbors stopped by during the 5 week project to see what I was going - and 3 were so impressed they hired him to remodel their bathrooms and install tile throughout their homes! If I could give a 10 star review to MMM Flooring I would - and I am a VERY picky customer who expects perfection. If you hire MMM Flooring you will not be disappointed.

Nice guy-knowledgeable, skilled, punctual, highest rated but lowest bid. Very pleased with the work! Tyler ripped out and removed ALL 30 year old ugly outdated original 2 inch baseboard, replaced throughout home with new Tampa Bay Millworks 5 1/4 which he painted pre-installation with CR Best Buy Behr Premium semi-gloss enamel. He recommended TBM because they sell 16 foot lengths (less seams, many design choices, low prices, great salesperson, ask for "Fitz"). Will be my first choice for future projects.

Kevin was able to see my vision of what I wanted … it is not easy to paint dark furniture white and know exactly how to finish it. He did an amazing job! The best part of the move into my new home was seeing my new painted furniture delivered !!! Besides Kevin skill of a woodworker he is a really nice man!

Jose responded to my project request almost immediately and was very attentive throughout the entire bidding/quoting process. He and his crew showed up on time and did a fantastic job wainscoting my bathroom and installing crown molding. The clean up was quick and efficient. Great job all around. I'd recommend JDB Woodworking to anyone with carpentry needs.

Where do I begin? I never give 5 stars but for once I have a reason to. Markus and his wife did an amazing job refinishing my 21 year old Ethan Allan solid maple table. From their prompt pick up, to choosing a finish that would match the new Ethan Allan chairs, to the careful drop off of the finished table! Markus had taken one of the new chairs to match up the stain and it too arrived undamaged. The whole refinishing process took about 2 weeks but that included the Thanksgiving holiday. I was not in a rush to get the table back since I didn't need it for Thanksgiving and I wanted them to keep it as long as necessary to get the job done right. I feel like I have a new table. It looks beautiful! I found Baltic Woodsmith on the Thumbtack website which was very helpful since I am still new to the Tampa area. I'd hire Baltic Woodsmith again. They were professional and VERY knowledgeable about wood and how to best refinish an item. Nothing went wrong it was an overall wonderful experience!

EXCELLENT WORK - HIGHLY RECOMMEND! Painted Interior Home and Ceilings, Installed Crown Molding, Sheetrock and Vanities. Kevin and his Dad are Trustworthy and Affordable. They show pride in their work and care about *you*, they'll do everything in their power to help you the best they can. I am a single parent with my first home, I hired them as simple painters to begin with and I was so impressed with their professionalism that I hired them to remodel my entire home. If I ever need "anything" done in my home, Eller Painting is who I'm going to call. These guys are the best!

Keith was amazing to work with on this project. After discussing what I wanted he said if I had changes it wouldn’t be a problem. He is a man of his word. I changed things multiple times as the project progressed. All of which he embraced. On the day of installation we also tweaked things so as to have the piece look its best. Keith is master craftsman and his work proves it. He also kept me updated with calls and photos and always showed up right on time even though I was almost an hour from him. In addition he gave me pointers on diy projects I am attempting. I can’t wait for the next project and will highly recommend him to family and friends. Thank you Keith.

Paint wood furniture and lacquers The use of lacquer for protection and decoration of wood produces a glossy, extremely smooth and uniform surface, in which it hides the original wood grain. The use of coatings has significant advantages over the paintings. When varnished or painted furniture, lacquer should know that is brighter and more durable than paint and drying time is less. Color hue obtained with lacquer application lasts longer than that obtained with paints, invariable over time. Furthermore, because the drying rate, prevents sticking during application dust particles from the environment, which results in a finished lens. With the lakes can get any color finish (RAL color charts, NCS and Pantone), which allows us to combine the furniture and woodworking with any other embellishment. They are also an economical alternative to restore antique furniture, because they allow us to hide the cosmetic defects of furniture that have been degraded. There are three elements that must take care of to get a good coating: the type of board on which we want to apply the paint, cleanomh the surface prior to application, and the quality of the lacquer. Although it can be painted on any type of wood or board, to get it smooth and homogeneous, MDF is often used. With Fine Touch Restorations synthetic lacquers and ecological use of the highest quality. Thus, we avoid the most common problems associated with coating: non-adherence, the lumpy or "orange peel" effect and appears yellowish over time. The lacquer furniture is a practical and economical solution to give a new look to the decor, making it cozy, simple, and bright.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

Who is a carpenter and what do they do?

Carpenters are skilled craftsmen who build things out of wood. Depending on what the carpenter builds, they may be referred to by various names. A framer is a carpenter who puts up the framing on a house. A trim or finish carpenter installs the finishing touches of prefabricated or custom trim and detail work once a house has been built and the walls are up. A furniture maker or woodworker builds furniture — such as tables, beds and dressers — out of wood. A cabinetmaker is a carpenter who builds custom and semi-custom wood cabinets. If you’re having a home built or remodeled, your general contractor will either provide or subcontract the carpentry work for the framing, cabinets and trim. You can hire a carpenter directly to update the trim in your home, build you a piece of custom furniture, or repair or replace your wood cabinets.

Do carpenters build houses?

Carpenters are trained to work with wood. That means that any part of your home that is built of wood is very likely to involve a carpenter. Framing carpenters will put up the wood that makes up the bones of your home. If you’re having a wood floor installed, it may be done by a carpenter — although being a carpenter is not a requirement to install flooring. Trim, baseboards, wainscoting and any other detail work is typically installed by a finish carpenter. The wood boxes of custom cabinets will be built and installed by a carpenter.

Although all of these components in your new or remodeled home are built by carpenters who specialize in building things with wood, a general contractor typically oversees construction of the entire house. If the general contractor is also a carpenter skilled in all these areas, they may well construct your entire home. More often, the general contractor subcontracts out the various building stages to different individuals, including carpenters.
